I dont know about the other vets in the office, but Dr. Louis Gotthelf (the owner), who claims to be a dermatologist, is not a dermatologist. He is not board certified, and he doesnt know what hes talking about. He shouldnt be masquerading as a dermatologist. Hes dangerous. Dr. Gotthelf doesnt know the classic symptoms of middle ear infection. Any dermatologist would know this, but maybe one problem (besides his lack of education and experience) is that Dr. Gotthelf also doesnt listen. My dog walked with his neck stiff and low, shook his head when he barked, and stopped mid-yawn like his jaw hurt. This guy blamed it on two or three different things, when, in fact, those are classic symptoms of middle ear pressure. Even humans have these symptoms. The pain radiates into the jaw so you cant open it wide without pain; it hurts to chew, or even swallow; it hurts when you jar your head so you use your neck like a shock absorber to keep your head still; it causes headaches, etc. Middle ear infections dont always affect the semicircular canals, so there arent any balance problems until it gets so bad it spreads to that mechanism, yet this guy claimed that it wasnt a middle ear infection because there was little or no balance trouble. Maybe since he doesnt know the symptoms of a middle ear infection and lets his patients suffer with it, his patients eventually do get balance problems so in that case I suppose hes right. Dermatologists should recognize middle ear symptoms because skin problems and allergies often cause ear infections. The dermatologist/allergist I brought my dog to in California recognized the symptoms immediately just from my description before she even saw him. Thats because shes a real dermatologist, and she listens to her clients. Dr. Gotthelf was so far off the mark with the middle ear infection that I wouldnt trust him with anything else either. He thinks he knows more than he does, and that makes him dangerous.

Hello; I am Dr. Gotthelf. I am amazed at what gets put on the internet without any validity. I have been in veterinary practice for 36 years and I am sure that not everyone we have served has been 100% happy with us. Please do not believe every bad thing that you read on these reviews. We have had clients that get angry when we ask them to pay their bill for very sick or injured animals that we have attended to. We try and work out a way for them to pay, but after several months of hearing excuses for why they will not pay their bill with us, we let a collection agency handle these accounts. Unfortunately, we cannot treat animals for free. I do not hit animals!!! We sometimes have to deal with aggressive dogs and cats and for those we try and use chemical restraint rather than trying to fight with them. We know that this comment was put on the internet by an employee that was fired. To answer another review, I am not a Board Certified Dermatologist and I do not tell people that. But I have written 2 books on ear diseases and I have done over 300 lectures at veterinary continuing education meetings all over the US and in several foreign countries on ear diseases. I am a member of the American Academy of Veterinary Dermatology. Over the last 25 years, I have studied ear and skin diseases in depth. I have written many scientific journal articles and I have helped develop ear and skin products that are in widespread use. In addition, I have done several clinical trials on products in the testing phase for future market release. We have Montgomery Pet Skin and Ear Clinic so that people will know that I have some expertise in this area of veterinary medicine.

If you love your fur babies DO NOT go here. My 6 yr old dog became violently ill overnight, I rushed him to this " hospital" as they were opening. As I walked to the door carrying my best friend, who was very lethargic, the lady unlocked the door, looked at me, and walked behind the counter. She did not even open the door for me despite the obvious bundle in my arms. They gave me paperwork, and took him away without letting me say goodbye as if I was bothering them. I called that afternoon to check on him, and they said he was still on IV and would be overnight, which led me to believe that he at least had not gotten worse. I never heard from a " doctor" until the next morning, when he coldly called to say he had not survived the night and what would we like to do with him. I called later to say we would be there to take him home. When I arrived, they made sure to make me pay for " services rendered" before giving me his body, which come to find out had been put in a trash bag, I understand that he needed to be contained in case of contagion, but I expected at least a medical waste bag. I never once saw a doctor, except for when he he passed by the hall as I was crying while signing my card receipt, and he never said a word. I still do not know what happen to dog, and they made no attempt to give me compassion or closure .

I brought my cat in she had milk fever, a calcium deficency because she has a 6 week old litter of kittens and while nursing they took all of her calcium. She had fever of 108 , dr gotthelf brought down her fever with an ice bath and gave her calcium he said she might have brain damage because of the high fever and he wanted to observe her over night. He didnt observe her noone did they left her alone and called me the next day and said she was dead. Then becuase I dont have a checking acct to give them a check to hold until I pay the bill in full they wouldnt give me her body. I gave them 40$ all the money I had to my name and they wouldnt even allow me to see her. I begged I cried and that man was cold and heartless. And worst of all she died all alone and they wont bury her for me even though they wont give her to me. They saud she will be in a cooler until I pay them. My sweet baby will be in a cooler until I can scrape up 300$ to pay for a treatment that didnt work. This is the worst vet ever. He is so cold and heartless he doesnt have any compassion for animals or humans

Unfortunately I can only give this place a single star. If I could give them negative stars, I would. We had an appointment for our dog here in a week and he was having severe diarrhea and the vet said well he has an appointment next week and said well see him them. They gave our dog a green heart shaped pill to treat hook worms and no other vet I have spoken with has EVER heard of this pill. We paid up front everytime we went here and the one time we went in and didnt have all of the money they said we couldnt be treated because they "dont do payment plans". I would highly recommend anyone and everyone take their pets elsewhere because I would rather trust my pets health to a quick Google search than to these pathetic excuses for veterinarians. Like I said Negative stars.
