Major miscommunication! My dog had a tick. I pulled it off, a few cm below the tick there was a bump. It was mainly under the skin, but it apparently itched so the top of it was ulcerated. The bump didnt go away so I went to Dr. Pruitt. I told Dr. Pruit about the tick, he didnt take that into consideration. I was convinced it was a bug bit reaction so I had him lance it because if the tick above the area. He said that he would but by how it felt he knew it was a tumor. He said it would grow and grow so he gave him a steroid shot & said it should be removed. He looked at the cells under the microscope, said to remove it, send to lab to see what type, then we would know a plan of action: radiation or chemo. OMG my dog has cancer, a moms worst nightmare! Of course I schedule the surgery, I had no choice! It had to come off since it was well a TUMOR! My dog is my child, the love of my life! He has his surgery. I pick him up & he is whimpering & chirping. I was told: results in 3-4 days. Im stressing, &planning on how I am going to afford ongoing care of my dog. 8 days go by and I dont hear a peep from them. No followup, hows your dog doing, nothing, so I finally call them! Bug bite reaction. Bug bite reaction. I worried sick about my dog for weeks. My dog went under anesthetic. Was cut open. Stitches. Suffered the effects of anesthetic. Whimpered in pain.Because Dr.P didnt even consider any other possibilities of the lump. Because he just opted for the most aggressive solution. And the most expensive. And the riskiest. 10 days the stitches were removed, I entered the office & Dr.P was working in the lobby, he looked up & didnt acknowledge us. No, how is he doing/feeling? I guess thinking a bug bite was a tumor created an awkwardness. No empathy over my stress and concern that my dog went under an unneeded surgery. He removed the stitched and showed me to the door. Yes opened the front door for me to leave. A "dont let the door hit ya.." A few hrs later the incision split wide open. Resulting in a $300 visit to the Emergency vet. (Per ER vet, stitches in his spot shouldnt be removed at least 14 days) This was an awful & expensive experience. I feel so awful for my sweet dog that had to suffer so much through this for a bug bite reaction.

I would never recommend anyone bringing their pet here, especially cats. My kitten was hospitalized with them for 5 days and when I initially brought him, the Dr. said very carelessly "Cross your fingers he pulls through". They did not call me once to let me know how he was doing. When I asked if they could call me their response was, "You can call us once we are closed." They were very short, rude and defensive every time I called, just to see if he had made any progress. Since it was over a holiday weekend, I asked them to call me when they were closed since I didnt know what time they would be in to check on him. The Dr. said he would call early in the morning. By 1:30 pm I had not heard from him and so I called and he was just then there taking care of them and did not acknowledge it at all. When I was able to bring him home, I asked for his records and they said they just gave him fluids and anti-biotics and had nothing written down that I could take with me. Which makes me think they werent really keeping track of his daily progress very well. Plus he came home with a wound on his arm with fur missing where they put his catheter in! Ive never seen this lack of care from a vet before, you dont put tape directly on the skin. In addition to their lack of customer service and their bad attitude in caring for my kitten, their office does not appear very clean at all. When the Dr. was going to look at my kittens ears, he wiped out the instrument with a q-tip, nothing else! Plus I didnt see any signs of them wiping or cleaning anything down from the dog that was in there before us. It is very small and unorganized. If they knew anything about cats, they would carry wet food to offer their clients and they dont. You will regret it if you go here!

Ive been taking all of my pets to Four Peaks Animal Hospital for years now. We have 2 cats and 3 dogs ... one of our dogs is special needs. • I love that exams are done in the same area as lab/testing room. So if anything needs to be done, they dont whisk your pet away to some other room. They do it all right there in front of you. • Dr Pruitt is a bit of a talker, so you end up getting more information about your pets condition and overall knowledge of a situation. • He tends to go with the least aggressive treatment and see how your pet responds before going on to more invasive/expensive options. • Sometimes the cost is about what youd expect, but sometimes it seems low. Nobody likes spending a ton at the vet, but I can honestly say Ive left their office before thinking - they really didnt charge enough for that. Bottom line, theyre nice folks who care about pets.

Dr. Pruitt and his lovely wife, Sheila are the very best friends my pets could ever want. They are kind, compassionate, competent, caring and knowledgeable. Dr. Pruitt ALWAYS takes the time to do a thorough physical, and explain everything plus cleaning ears and skin folds (we have 2 pugs) and most importantly talks to the owner about the lifestyle ...diet, coat, teeth, exercise, any behavior problems. We are extremely pleased with the Pruitts care. Any Rxs that are needed and necessary are at a reasonable cost. Plus they also board. We have never utilized this but I would not hesitate to leave my pets with them. They are absolutely wonderful. We actually moved from Scottsdale to the other side of the valley and I gladly drive to Dr. Pruitt for his care.

I have been taking my dog to Dr. Pruitt for 2 years now, and I have been thoroughly impressed. Having experienced vets that push products and suggest superfluous tests and treatments to rack up a bill, Four Peaks was a breath of fresh air. He has a very common sense approach to the care he suggests. With every diagnosis he lays out options, makes recommendations on what is best for the animal, and when prompted offers opinion on what is most cost effective or worthwhile. The rates are more than reasonable and I always leave feeling like I have gotten a very good value for the care provided.

Would never take my animals any where else. I like how you can see everything that is going on so you know what they are doing to your pet. The price is beyond reasonable. They care so much that you can call them after hours and get a phone call back. Will not go to anyone else. Dr. Pruitt took on caring for our sick puppy in the middle of her treatment because we could not afford another week of expensive hospital stays and they monitored her and made her feel like she was at home not a scary hospital until she was well enough to go home.
