NOTHING OPTIMUM ABOUT THIS PLAN! Always ask yourself the question: "Would insurance (type) plans exist if the insurers could lose money long-term?" People, save yourself a large headache down the road, and simply DO NOT EVER CONSIDER PURCHASING the Banfield Pet Hospital Optimum Wellness Plan. They bill you ridiculous amounts for routine visits while under the plan. "But wait" you say, "Why does that matter, isnt it just included in the plan?" Well, not exactly. You will ALWAYS be running a "balance owed" based on what you wouldve paid if you didnt have the plan (according to them), and they string-along that balance against you. This makes it near impossible to ever cancel without basically paying the (catch-up) balance, and youll be surprised how substantial that is. And within a week of your auto-renew -- they call you to schedule your dog for his "mandatory" vaccinations. Theyll print out a bill for over $300 for that visit! Would you go to a Vet who charged over $300 for a routine check-up and vaccinations? They try to warm and fuzzy you and actually act as if you "saved" that money by being on the plan. Now they know have you sucked you in for the rest of the year at $34.95 per month, because you owe it anyways (according to their inflated bill) if you cancel. Do you see the scheme here? BTW, its not like were degenerate folks who didnt give them more than our fair share of $$. For 2+ years, we had only two visits (each for routine check-ups and vaccinations) and paid them ALMOST $900 on the plan, called in and cancelled (which they ignored) but we had to stop our credit card to get them to stop billing us, and now of course, they say we still owe them $80. And how does Banfield thank thee for the $900 payment (for about $250 worth of service)...? By placing our account with a collection agency asking for $80 more... thats how! So as you can see by Banfields priorities, its all about your dog! Well maybe their vets are just downright amazing...? Nope, doesnt seem so. A Vet there actually recommended a low-fat diet for our dog. Fat is a highly critical nutrient for all of us and ESPECIALLY for our beloved dogs. We used to patronize PetSmart (for food, grooming and supplies) and decided to try Banfield, but now due to their money-grubbing "wellness" plan and its despicable business model, both have lost our business entirely. So far, weve stopped 3 others from continuing business with them, and they will certainly not gain anybody else we can spread the word to as well. I really dont get a charge out of writing bad reviews like some people do... but each person who reads this review will have made it well worth sharing our Banfield experience.

Took my puppy in to have him examined due to some runny poops and vomiting for a day or two. Our usual Banfield was full (which, is one reason I will not be doing the Banfield health plan again --- its too difficult to be seen when there is an issue). Whoever the doctor on staff this day was, was rude and unhelpful. I owned up to perhaps that not being the wisest choice when I walked in the door. Rather than saying, Oh yes, I probably wouldnt recommend that in general but he appears to be okay minus a little upset tummy. This vet decided to repeatedly tell me how stupid of a decision that was. She did not offer to actually DO anything about it, just kept saying how dumb it was. I get it, but I did what Im suppose to and brought him in - please dont lecture your customers who walk in the door saying it may not have been the best decision (also - I asked my regular vet, who said the only reason it was an issue is due to how I introduced it, not that it is a bad idea always.) Additionally, this was the DIRTIEST Banfield/Petsmart I have ever been to. I get its a pet store but maybe vacuum or sweep... like ever...? Not impressed, I will not return to this Banfield. And I dont intent to ever see this "traveling vet" again.

My favorite furry buddy has been a Banfield patient for over 5 years. I have always had a great experience, between vaccine and appointment reminders to in-store and phone customer service. They are busy quite often, but that has never stopped them from giving both my pup and myself a good experience. They always seem to have a heavy and stressful workload, but dont let it impact the service they provide. Thanks Banfield Miller Team!!

I agree with previous review the plan is ridiculous over $1200 when you have a perfectly healthy dog. My dog went in for an exam WHICH IS FREE ON BANFIELD Website so PLEASE take your time printing it out unless you dont care about spending $42 for a less than 5 minute exam and a 10 minute sales pitch from Dr. Barnett and Laura.

If you dont care about your furry friend, this is the place to go. And if you dont buy into their "wellness" monthly program or stop using it, they wont send you any reminders of when certain things are due for your pet. Anywhere other than a Banfield is probably a better choice.
