I took my 130lb. dog there for a check up, vaccines, and to find and address a pain issue he was having. The front desk girls were very nice and hospitable. The techs and Dr. Buczek were awful. The first two techs attempted to get his temperature and their approach to this was to chase him around the room with a thermometer. He was scared and they just kept chasing and gave up. No attempt was made to try another method or to to calm him down or anything. Then Dr. Buczek came in with a muzzle and before even introducing her self to my dog she tried to strap a muzzle on his face. He has never even seen a muzzle and was already scared from the first tech. She left to get a tech and together they held him down and strapped it on his face. I told them it wasnt necessary but they insisted because he was big. They acted afraid of him for no reason and never completed the exam. They suggested sedation to give him an exam. This is entirely not necessary and if anyone had tried to get to know him or calm him it would have been fine. They treated him like he was a mean vicious dog based on his size alone. HORRIBLE PLACE FOR LARGE AND GIANT BREED DOGS. Dr. Buczek was especially horrible. Do NOT go here if you have a large or giant breed dog. Also, they never finished the exam or gave him his vaccines and suggested we come back in a month, but they did charge me the full amount for the exam.

I got my dog in college and lived in Tempe... now Im in downtown Phoenix and theres a ton of vets within a mile of my house... but I wouldnt even think of taking him anywhere else. I like to sew and as a puppy my dog mistook my pin-cushion for a toy and before I could stop him he had bitten off and somehow managed to swallow a hunk. It was a Saturday and the office was about the close but Dr. Wells didnt think twice about rushing us in. He and the staff did everything possible to help me out with the expensive procedures needed... even asked a specialist that was already coming to see another animal if he minded taking a look at my dogs situation. With his help they were able to perform an endoscopy instead of having to do a more invasive stomach surgery and my dog had a quick recovery! The next week I received a get well soon card in the mail from the vet. They far exceeded my expectations during an emergency.... and have continued to ever since. Totally reasonable prices and a super nice new office suite a block or so from their old one as well. Dont hesitate to take your animals here!

My kitty was in much pain so I brought him here immediately feeling comfortable since theyve known him since he was a kitten. They told me he had kidney stones I said do whatever you have to do to make him ok. They put a catheter in to suck out the stones that were blocking him from peeing and kept him for 3 nights. When I picked him up he was covered in his urine his fur crusty the smell was overwhelming. They said he would need to be on prescription food his entire life and told me what food to buy gave me all the food samples of the product. Sent me home with written instructions on the medication ,failed to give me the right amount so I had to go back. Then I later went to the store to buy the food and they told me i needed a written prescription from the vet ( they hadnt given me one) so I had to go back to the vet and have them give me one... just very unprofessional and disappointing in a hard time. Thank you for saving my cats life but why did you let him sit in his own urine for 3 nights then not give me the proper things to take care of him? Not coming back.

I went in there for an exam after I got my dog from the shelter. He was sneezing but otherwise looked Ok. I had to wait an hour in the waiting room when we had an appointment... Then we went in and I told the vet he was sneezing and it almost sounded like coughing and i thought maybe kennel cough since he was from the shelter... He said, "Keep an eye on him for a week and see if he shows more serious symptoms." So less than a week later I call back and said, "yes, hes gotten worse, is there a medication you can prescribe for him" and they said yes but you have to come in and pay for an exam again first! WHAT? I told you he had early signs, he was predisposed to it, and you sent me on my way so I have to come back in less than a week to PAY for another visit and medicine on top of it!!! I smell a SCAM to me! I wont be coming back, ever, no matter how close they are to me. Before i moved, my last vet would bend over backwards for her patience and at least didnt seem like all they were out for was money. All this vet was out for is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

This vet isnt supportive of alternative/natural care. More than being ignorant of the topic, he was hostile and antagonizing. He referred to practitioners who are as "idiots" (twice), and was clearly trying to insult me (as an idiot, by implication). Even the respected Dr. Ron Schultz who studies immunology and believes the profession overvaccinates (as an easy profit)? Called an "idiot" too. The vet was literally trembling with anger. I also got the impression this vet engages in overvaccination. They wanted to treat my 2 year-old dog like a puppy (with maternal antibodies) and give it monthly boosters. (Which explained his aversion to the topics of natural/alternative care). I have never met a vet who wasnt at least familiar with these topics, and supportive of clients who have educated themselves and wish to manage risks differently. It was amazing to see this vet so completely rejecting of the topic, to the point of wishing to antagonize and humiliate me.

I wanted to personally thank you for your professionalism and warmth today, as we put our beloved pet, Koby, to sleep. We have not been clients of yours, and you were still very helpful. From the moment I called this morning, everyone was very supportive. I do have to mention that I had called another vet in Tempe this morning, and I did not even get an "Im so sorry"- it was all about names, making an appointment, phone numbers, and if I wanted the ashes. Gina didnt ask for any of that. She simply said "Im so sorry. Please come down when you are ready." While your employees did have to cover the information with me, it wasnt until I was there, and then it was in a very supportive fashion. Even without an appointment, I did not feel rushed. Losing a pet is never easy, but thank you for all that you did! I know he was in good hands after we left, and for that I am forever grateful.

I had taken my dog to be examined at her regular vet and I was so upset with the service and the way they treated me and my dog! I began to look for another place and my neighbor told me about TVH and I AM SO THANKFUL I found Tempe Vet Hospital! The other vet was going to pull a tooth and said she had various things wrong with her mouth! She actually had a thorn in her cheek, which was causing an infection! TVH took her in and cared for her from the first moment. Dr. Wells even called before doing any procedures and gave me the best options for her actually SAVING ME MONEY!! When I went to pick her up Dr. Wells insisted on seeing us and making sure we knew our pooch was going to be on her way to recovery!! He is awesome and what a great relief he gives you with his knowledge and professionalism!! Thanks TVH and Dr. Wells!!
