Dr. Joseph was decent. He was called out mid-exam but was able to determine without any xrays MRI or CT scan that our dog had intervertebral disc disease and prescribe 2 pain medications and advised strict confinement for 2 to 6 weeks. I received a call from Dr Joseph about 4 days later to check in and see how things were going. I discuss some of my concerns and he informed me that he would contact me by phone or email over the weekend. I never received any communication from him so Monday morning I called back to the office. Our dog was out as one of his pain medications and I had requested that they transfer the prescriptions to a local pharmacy, such as target. I was told that I would have to physically go in to pick up the medication prescriptions but that Dr Joseph was not in for a couple of days and she would have to see if one of the other doctors would be willing to write the prescription. This information completely differed from what I had been originally told. I asked a few questions to make sure I was understanding correctly and explained that I did not live near that location and I was trying to fill the medications through somewhere closer to home. I also let her know about the lack of communication I had received over the weekend and this woman, who explained that she was the hospital coordinator, continue to talk to me in such a disrespectful manner that I was in shock. I asked what her name was and she continue to speak over me and interrupt me and let me know that it did not matter what her name was since anyone else in the office would give me the same information. I told her that I would like to speak to somebody else because she was being very rude and she told me that no one else was there to speak with me but that she would give the information to the manager. When I asked again to speak to somebody else she said it didnt matter who you talk to anyone will tell you the same thing. She then told me that she no longer wished to continue the conversation, that she would be disconnecting and then she hung up on me. I am NOT one to easily get emotional but I stared at my phone and started to cry. I was in disbelief. I contacted the greenback VCA hospital and their front office person was much more considerate and empathetic and explained a few things to me regarding medications and refills. She told me that it is their policy that they should be able to call a prescription to an outside pharmacy such as target. She advised me on what I should do and after getting off the phone with her I called back to the Manzanita location and spoke with someone named Jenna. She seemed nicer but also seemed nervous to be talking to me. She told me that "Im being told that someone from the office like the manager or a doctor will be contacting you sometime today." Once I concluded my conversation with her I called a local vets office and set up an immediate appointment. We are there now and my dog is receiving xrays and blood work because they are not sure what may be causing his pain and discomfort. The extremely rude office coordinator that I spoke with at the Manzanita location was Candace. I have worked in customer service for over 20 years and I am so embarrassed for this location that they have someone working there who would treat anyone, especially a customer, this way. She was rude, lacked empathetic, and just plain nasty. If it were up to me, she would be fired immediately, not because I want to ruin her life but because I hope that at some point she realizes that she should not treat people that way and maybe it would help her understand that. I will never be returning back to this location and I will make a huge effort to spread my experience so that other people know better as well. Im beyond disappointed.

They ruined my dog. I brought her in because she had discharge in her vagina and they immediately said its highly likely the cause is pyometra. They performed an xray for $300 but could not determine the fluid in her uterus because her colon was full of poo. They explained that surgery to remove her uterus was the only solution and that it could cost $1700 for the procedure. I told her that i wanted to breed my dog and she said antibiotics will not help, only surgery. I asked twice if antibiotics could take care of the issue and the vet said she was always taught that surgery is the only solution. She said that if i didnt take care of it immediately that my dog was most likely going to get worse and die. What else could i do, but rush her into surgery the next morning. I pick her up that night and another vet explained the procedure and said "well, she was a little enlarged, but didnt have pus. She had a tiny cyst which might have been the cause, but we are not sure." Then he said, "oh well, she needed to be spayed anyway." I told him that i didnt want her spayed and that i had asked for antibiotics. He replied, "oh, that never works, surgery is the only way... Then as i look at my carved up dog, he says "some dogs are just not meant to breed". Oh man, It took everything not jump the counter and beat this man. Ive been to this place a few times and every time they over charge and over sell. They play the "dont you love your dog" game. I highly recommend looking elsewhere to an honest vet that will not prey on owners who love their pets.

I took my chihuahua to the vet tonight, she was BLEEDING out of her anus and clearly it was alarming! I did not have any money so I got the care credit card which only gave me 500. When i got there they took chloe right back and made me sit out in the waiting room for over an hour and finally when i went back to talk to the dr. he proceeded to tell me that chloe was clearly sick and asked me all kinds of legit questions which in response i told him no i do not know why this happened. well he told me that they can do x-rays and blood tests and fecal tests but they were going to cost at least 300 for the xrays and so forth. then he said well i can give her antinausea meds and an anti dhiaretic meds and that should help and if the meds dont work come back and then we can do more tests. never once mentioned that chloe was deathly or he felt the best way to figue out what was wrong is to go through the test he just simply assured me that that would hep and when i said i thought you were going to give me bad news never mentioned that it is bad and assured me that the meds will help. well an hour later chloe passes. and when i called to complain befor i could even say which dog they asked chloe right. very poor practice there, i understand my dog was very very sick but they made me believe she was alright and bottom line never trust a dr. who is doodling on the medical forms while you are trying to save your dog!
