I took a kitten that Id found while out jogging to see them to make sure she wasnt sick with anything, as shed clearly been abandoned quite young. Usually, Id go to a different (MUCH BETTER) vet, but they were booked up, and I wanted to have her tested before exposing her to my other cats. The appointment itself was okay, although theyre sending me spam after I checked the box on the intake form telling them not to. The real problem surfaced later when I realized that the kitten had ringworm. The signs were there when we took her in, so I asked them to check for it. When they brought her back out and said she was healthy, I assumed that theyd checked everything, including that. Young kittens are really susceptible to ringworm, so I shouldnt even have had to point it out. I can assume that my usual vet, whos very diligent, will do his job, so I didnt think to triple check. This one? Not so much. Now my whole household has it, and its spread everywhere. Well have to be treated, well have to get the cats treated, and well have to deep clean the house. In addition, Ill have to get all the tests the Abel clinic SAYS they did redone at my usual vet, because i dont trust any of the results now. Stay away. Stay far, far away.

Dont go here! I have been a loyal customer of Dr. Byam for about five years. I have had my doubts with how honest they have been, but have chosen to think the best of people instead. My first doubts started when my pug had infections in his ear. I went to her and had paid $500+ to get medication and exams, only for it to not work. A year or so later he started peeing blood. I went to her again and paid $700+ to get every kind of test done only to find out that we needed more tests and that they had not found out anything to be able to diagnose him. There has been several more incidences but am afraid of loosing your attention by writing too much. My point is that for every health issue I have taken my dog in for, I have NEVER had any correct diagnosis that cured his issue. The straw that broke the camels back came when I asked to come in to get my dogs nails clipped. They said he would not be seen unless he had an exam. Being that he was healthy and that I didnt see how one pertained to the other, I said no thank you. I am sure there are good veterinarians out there that do care about their clients well being and are not money hungry, but I am unsure that I can say that this rings true about Abel Pet Clinic.

All the people who work at Abel Pet Clinic, from Dr. Byam to ALL the staff, are wonderful, sweet, pet-loving human beings! Everyone cares and loves the animals as if they were the only patient. We are all treated with kindness and dignity. Thats rare these days and its very refreshing. Besides the top notch care, prices are fair and Dr. Byam wont do a procedure unless she thinks it really necessary. I am ALWAYS recommending Abel Pet Clinic. It is not in my neighborhood, but well worth the drive from East Sac knowing that i and my babies are in loving and good hands. Thank you to everyone at Abel Pet Clinic! You ALL are awesome.

Before receiving a bill for $400, I was told my dog was testing positive for a disease which she had been vaccinated against. I was also told she needed immediate attention or might not make it. Something told me this just was not correct. The next morning I took my dog to our old vet. 30 miles away to be told that the blood tests taken the day before looked incorrect and my dog did not have the dreaded disease. After a physical exam I was told she had swallowed a rock that was blocking her food and water intake. The problem was solved. I paid $400 for nothing. I am staying with my old vet, even though I have to drive to get there!

I found this place by searching the reviews online and from reading other vet reviews my choice was easy. I thought my puppy was suffering from parvo until the vet told me otherwise. The cost was below my estimate I had in my mind for a visit plus treatment. I dont have pet insurance so unfortunately my puppy is limited to how much we have. The vet explained everything before treating so I was informed and able decide which would work best for our family. I would visit again if my puppy needed to be seen.

I live in the South Bay area but take my mini-dachshund Nathan to see Dr. Byam for second opinions when health issues have been raised by his regular vet. The front counter staff are always friendly and Dr. Byams diagnosis have always been right on. Recently Nathan developed dry eye and Dr. Byam gave me several options that again saved me a lot of money. Dr. Byam gives Nathan excellent care and I trust her professional judgment implicitly. I highly recommend Dr. Byam and Abel Pet Clinic.

We started using Abel Pet Clinic 8 yrs ago. They have provided excellent care for our pugs. They are the most compassionate Doctors and staff I have ever used for our precious pugs. We have moved out of the EG area, and even though we have quite a bit farther to drive, we continue to use their expert services. They are also very generous with helping out a local Pug rescue group. That speaks volumes about their love, and concern for the well being of animals. Starr C.

We have utilized Abel Pet Clinic ever since we moved to Elk Grove in 1998. We came clients because I am a UCDavis graduate and Dr. Bynam (also being a UCDavis graduate) offered a discount. That being said, we have not been disappointed in the service. Abel Pet Clinic personnel are compassionate and very knowledgeable. Abel Pet Clinic has taken very good care of all of my pets and I am very well pleased.

I have been going to Able Pet Clinic for over 10 years and have always received exceptional care for my dogs. It is always easy to get an appointment on Saturdays or after 5pm during work days. The staff always greet my pets with care, concern and very helpful with suggestions. I completely recommend Dr. B and staff to my friends and family for their pet care needs. jc

We have been using Able Pet Clinic for about 5 years and love the wonderful care our pets have received. Dr. Byam and her staff were considerate and compassionate when our pet rat needed surgery and when our dog was sick. They dont recommend unnecessary treatments; only what is needed. The principle of this clinic, Kelly Byam, could not be more professional or compassionate. She is a wealth of knowledge and prides herself in providing care and attention above and beyond the call of duty to her clients. She is well known for her support of rescue pets and has several of her own. Highly recommended!
