I eat a lot of candy, bubblegum and taffy, and have never had a cavity. The individuals instrumental to this feat of excellence include Dr. Burkholder and his staff, and the makers of the Philips Sonicare. In the spirit of full disclosure, I do have to admit that I am a bit biased towards Dr. Burkholder since he is my best friend’s dad. That said, Dr. Burkholder has been my dentist for years and I will continue to be under his care until he retires. I’ve been living abroad for two years, and make it a point to schedule an appointment for a routine cleaning with Dr. Burkholder when I am home, twice a year. The things I miss about Menlo Park living abroad- Dr. Burkholder, Round Table Pizza, the Goose, the O, Tacos El G. Dr. Burkholder’s approach to dental care and treatment is prevention. We take care of our teeth, and our teeth take care of us. Whenever Dr. Burkholder or his staff performs any treatment, they will carefully explain what they will be doing and why it is necessary. They are happy to answer any questions to make the patient feel absolutely comfortable with the cleaning, or treatment, or whatever. Every aspect of Dr. Burkholder’s is great, from the inviting waiting area (though the wait is never long enough to actually merit such a nice couch and plethora of reading materials) and the lovely receptionist, Charmain, to the professionalism and friendliness of the staff (Vivian!), to the cleanliness of the entire office, to seeing friends and neighbors getting some dental work done. Dr. Burkholder loves what he does and it is obvious that he actually cares about you and the longevity of your teeth. He’ll come in if need be even on his days off, and Charmain will do everything she can to squeeze you in if you absolutely need to see Dr. Burkholder. Going to dentist doesn’t always mean painful drilling. The more you know…

Ive been going to Dr. Burkholder for many many years now. He is my savior. When I first started with him, I had serious problems with my gums, with many number 6 and 7 pockets. I am pleased to say that for a few years now, after much work, my gums are finally in perfect shape. When I first started going to Dr. Burkholder he took the time to explain everything necessary to get my mouth to the point of health so that I would be able to keep my original teeth for my lifetime. If I had not been lucky enough to find him at the time I did, Im sure my mouth would not be in the state of health it is now. Thats why I call him my savior! In addition, because I have a very small mouth, I easily frequently gag when getting dental work...even when having cleanings. He and his staff are so patient and kind, always stopping when necessary to give me the time needed to recover. I have since moved out of his area, but travel about an hour an half each way to get to him. I dont hesitate because I know I am always getting the best care. I am fortunate to be continuing under his care, and am always quick to recommend him to my friends and colleagues.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Burkholder since 2005 and am glad to have switched from my previous dentist. Already from the first visit I was impressed by how thorough their new patient exam was, and how much time Dr. B took to explain everything and emphasize his goal of healthy gums and teeth through proper home care and maintenance. After two years we finished all the required treatments and Ive been going there for regular check ups and cleanings and the doctor always makes a point of coming in and checking on my status and changes with my health and mouth. Ive also done some cosmetic work including teeth whitening. The office staff is extremely friendly yet professional, and they make you feel very comfortable. I highly recommend Dr. Burkholder.

Ive been going to Dr. Burkholders office for more than ten years. Ive had many cleanings and fillings. Ive always left the office with my mouth feeling clean and healthy. The doctor keeps up with the latest research and technology and his staff is friendly and efficient. Some people get anxious going to the dentist, but the doctor and his staff are so genial that Im always comfortable during procedures. Also, the location is very convenient for people who work in the area of Sand Hill Rd., Stanford, and Page Mill Rd.

My husband and I and our two kids, ages 11 and 6, have been seeing Dr. Burkholder for 5 years and have been so pleased with his knowledge and approach. He is especially good at handling tricky issues with kids and explaining to them the process without using flashy gadgets. (When my oldest needed a filling, he didnt even know that he had been given a numbing shot!) The office works well as a team; they are efficient, accommodating, and helpful.

Dr. Burkholder is extremely knowledgeable and has saved my (complicated) teeth on many occassions. His work on my bridges and tooth alignment was something no other dentist had been able to solve. His office is full of great people too. Highly recommended!
