I have never written an on-line review before but felt I owed it to others out there who might be researching a good vet for their pets. When we moved to SJC, we decided it was probably a good time to switch vets. We hadnt been that happy with our previous vets. One seemed to be real big on giving our dogs and cat every vaccine possible with high price tags to go along with it and the other vet was a bit less money but the quality of care didnt seem the same. So, when we moved, I went on line to try and do a bit of research to find a good vet for our animals. Based on the reviews, I made an appointment for our two dogs at Animal & Bird Clinic and am so happy that I did. At long last we have found our vet! The staff at ABC is very friendly and the doctors are wonderful. They have old-fashioned, common sense values and dont vaccinate your dogs just for the sake of giving them another shot so they can collect another fee. They truly care about the well-being of your pet. Testimony to this is how Dr. Coward responded to us when we brought our beloved dog Kona into them because she had been run over by a car. She was really hurt and needed help. Dr. Coward immediately assessed the situation and came in to give us updates on her status. It turns out, thankfully, that Kona didnt suffer any severe damage. We were so impressed with the compassion and thoughtful way Dr. Coward cared for our dog. It was evident that her well being mattered to him. He reviewed with us all of her x-rays to show that there was no damage to internal organs and was very good about explaining what we were seeing. What really got us to feel that this was a different kind of vet who was helping us, though, was his offer to take our dog home with him that night to observe her if we werent comfortable with taking her in her condition. And, here is the clincher, Dr. Coward even called later that evening to make sure she was settled and doing okay. My husband and I cant recommend ABC enough. If you are in the same boat we were in and are hoping to find a place that is honest, compassionate, professional, and competent for your pets, I would look no further; Animal & Bird Clinic is wonderful.

I took my rabbit here near closing on a Saturday because she had diarrhea (a terrible thing for rabbits to have). I had to practically beg in tears for her to be seen. I couldnt believe they would have rather sent me to the animal hospital (2 hour wait) over seeing her (15 minutes to closing). As I was putting her back in the car the lady at the front desk told me they would take her. It was pretty awkward and the doctor apologized for the "miscommunication." $300 dollars later I was told she was fine. Then on Monday the doctor called and said she had worms so I paid another $30 for medication and another $45 for a fecies follow up a week later. The doctor then called me again to tell me she has Pasterella but he didnt want to give her any more medication because shes young. I told him I was concerned because she was sneezing a lot - he told me that wasnt related and would be a separate fee to come in to diagnosis of it was a respitory infection. Well Google has since proved him wrong. Pasterella is not worms - it is a respitory infection found in rabbits and a different medication that what I was orginally given is necessary. So now - $400 later Im still listening to my poor rabbit sneeze without a cure while I sit and research a better vet who will not only properly help her - but also wont take me for every dollar in the process. I cant speak for cats and dogs here- but as far as rabbits- their knowledge is obviously limited and extremely costly. Also - like the reviewer with the bird- I too question how much they really care about animals.

I went there with my sick bunny. We made appointment with one doctor but when we arrive another doctor was there to treat our rabbit. Greg Myers, was the one who inspected our bunny. He absolutely misdiagnosed symptoms .He did check his heart beating and said it is fine, but it was not, because our bunny breathing was so slow so his heart rate was not even close to what normal rabbit should have. We did X-Ray and we saw bloated stomach . He said force to feed him every 4 hours, we said he has no more room , his stomach will explode. He did not give any shoots to make his digestive system work in order to move the food he suggested we force feed him. Mr Myers here is advice for you.( Bloat is an emergency situation. If it is suspected that a rabbit is suffering from bloat, whether or not the rabbit is hypothermic, remove all food from the rabbits area to avoid overloading an already distended stomach and a compromised digestive system).. We did not force feed him, we give him pain killers. Our bunny past away next day in his sleep(we hope). What happen Mr Myers he has bloat , stomach as you described was so big, compressing his heart, lungs, and other organs. His litter heart was working irregular and stop.Blood flow becomes irregular, and rarely, blocked, causing disturbances of the cardiac rhythm, cardiovascular collapse . Once before we went to see Dr Brett M Hensley and he knows bunnies , to bad he was not available that day. Our lovely bunny is now binky free.:(((

i will just tell the story and you come to your own conclusion. I have a wonderful male canary that had a band on its leg when i first bought it. I was told it gave a kind of registry to the bird and that I should feel good about it. Then for whatever reason it got an infection in this one leg and it became swollen. I called magnolia farm, which i really like, and they gave me suggestions as to how to treat the infection. They said these bands are a terrible thing to put on a bird for this exact reason. I drove around yesterday to try to find clippers or a vet who would take a look to tell me if the leg would treatable or not. I came to PPAH and asked to see a doctor/vet just to take a look to tell me if he thought it should be examined to determine whether the canary should be put to sleep or if he could likely fix the situation. The attendants at the front refused to call him out to take a look and instead insisted I pay for a $65 consultation and removal for another $28. I said I needed to know, was it retrievable. They said he or she wouldnt get out of his chair or office just to come discuss it with me. My thought was "and this is supposed to be a humane place for animals and birds?" I left with a sick feeling in my stomach about these 4 women and the doctor. You decide if you would go.

I recently had an appointment for an office visit for $72. When I arrived they said that they were to busy and I needed to leave my dog with them they would have the doctor see him sometime during the day. Later I was called and told that my dog would be ready after 5:00pm. When I arrived to pick up my dog there was a bill for nearly $500. I asked what for TESTs, blood, urine, ect., I did not authorize these. I was told that I must have or they wouldnt do them. This was Not True! I wasnt there to agree to more than an office visit. These folks were so busy running up unnecessary test & costs that they forgot to ask for permission and now they refuse to do the right thing and still to this day demand payment. I recommend Dr Butchko in Riverside A bit of a dive but it will save you time and headaches I took my dog there instead, they did not do any of these ridiculous tests that were inconclusive. They gave me an office visit for $22 and 5 different medications all totaling less than $105 for everything. Also, Dr. Butchko declined preforming sugery on my dog for a cracked tooth due the dogs age, which Animal & Bird was more than willing to do and change $900. These folks really dont care about anything other than just making money off your pets mis fortunes.
