" A BIG RIP OFF-HIGHWAY ROBBERY" I took my dog to Crown Valley Animal Care Center because they had a sign on their building "24 Hours a Day Service." It was the day after Christmas (2009) about 5 PM. The first thing they told me is let me see if the vet is here our vet is finished for the day in a couple of minutes. I asked them arent you a 24 hour vet facilty , the girl told me "we stopped that a year ago." My dog was brought back and Dr. Ivers told me that needed to do some test on my dog(the reason I brought my dog there is she was urinating blood." Dr. Ivers immediately started to order test on her (urine test and abdomen x-ray), I asked a few minutes later and his office girl told me the bill would be about $225. I said that was fine. My dog was diagnosed with a kidney stone. I then was told he needed to put my dog on 2 pills (pain medications and antibiotics), then stated she needed another urine test to see if she had bacteria in her urine. He also told me that my dog needed surgery to have the stone removed and will have his business office manager call me in the morning. The doctor told me the stones were mad out of calcium and were very sharp, but would need to check it after surgery to confirm it with a test I got to the front desk I got a bill for $550. I told the lady WOW!!!! I was not expecting this. The urine test ended up being $200 for the bacteria and the medications were $50. The next day the business office people called me and gave me a quote for the surgery for $2600 and was told there could possibly be further charges. I went to my regular vet and he took a X-Ray of my dog (did not charge me for the x-ray because I was given a digital disc from Dr. Ivers which he could not read). My dog had one stone in her in which Dr.Ivers told me she had 5 stones, My vet told me they do not have any knowledge of what the stone was until the stone was tested (my vet has been in his office since the early 70s longer than I have been alive). THE BEST thing is my vet only charged me $45 for the visit and the surgery cost me $1600 (a thousand dollar difference---GO TO LAGUNA NIGUEL ANIMAL HOSPITAL DR. WARREN AND HIS STAFF ARE GREAT , KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND ARE NOT HERE TO RIPP YOU OFF which was 1 mile down the street). My dog has been doing great after her surgery that was done by Dr. Warren and I did not have to pay more. The point of the story is dont go to Crown Valley Animal Center.....Dr. Ivers is like a car sales man who will sell you everything without telling you the price later on.

My family want to say a big thank you to Dr. Scott Ivers for saving our dog’s life. My family had just moved to Laguna Niguel. We hadn’t had time to even think about choosing a new veterinarian. Unfortunately, our Pembroke corgi Koko was playing in a neighbor’s yard and got into some snail poison. The poor little guy started to have seizures and wasnt looking very good. I remember seeing Crown Valley Animal Care Center close to my house and immediately took my dog there. Once there, he was quickly taken in and diagnosed with snail bait poisoning. He was one sick little dog and was going to require intensive care if he was going to have a chance to survive. The bill for the first nights treatment was pretty high. I don’t have insurance for my dog and I was hesitant to pay so much with no guarantee the dog was going to make it. I decided to go ahead and pay for the first nights treatment and see how he was doing the next day. Things werent much better the next day and we were faced with the choice of putting him down or continuing to pay for his intensive care treatment and see if he would improve. It was a hard choice and I didnt know what to do. I didnt want to lose the dog but I also couldnt afford to keep paying for such expensive treatment especially given Koko’s condition. It seemed like he had a 50/50 chance, at best. His fever was through the roof. To my great surprise, Dr. Ivers decided to keep treating my dog at his expense, “on my dime” as he put it. I don’t know if he was guided by a kind heart or if his professional curiosity was challenged by such a sick little dog but he went ahead and continued treatment. Koko spent the next three nights medicated and sedated in intensive care without much change. Finally, he started to come around. A couple of weeks later I took him back for a follow up and he was well on the mend. I went to pay on our way out but was told there was no charge for the follow up. It’s been a couple of months and Koko has recovered completely and is back to his usual loud and curious self. I really can’t express how much my family appreciates Dr. Ivers for his kindness.

After reading the negative review written by an obviously disgruntled customer, I couldnt help but wonder if this person was talking about an alternative-universe facility. CVACC is, without a doubt, the best all-around petcare facility we have found in all the years we have lived in Orange County! Dr. Ivers is compassionate, understanding, concerned, caring and - well, you get the picture. We met Dr. Ivers and his staff after my GSD, HoneyBear, was bitten by a rattlesnake. CVACC was the closest facility to us, so I called and they told me to bring her in right away. We loaded Bear into our Jeep and violated several sections of the vehicle code on our way to the hospital. The staff was waiting outside the facility with a stretcher and wheeled Bear into the treatment room. Dr. Ivers interrupted a surgery to treat Bear, and did everything humanly possible to save our girl; unfortunately her heart had stopped, and she could not be brought back. The doctor and all of the staff members were very compassionate and understanding of our grief, and there are not words to tell how grateful we were. Our present GSD, Pepper, has been seen by Dr. Ivers since we first brought her home, and we are completely comfortable entrusting her to the doctor and all of the truly fantastic folks at the facility - Lisa, Heidi, Robin, Oscar, Edith, and all the rest of the staff obviously love animals, and Pepper is always very excited and happy to see them. Pepper is a PlayGroup regular, and we wouldnt even consider boarding her anywhere else when we have to travel without her. I have recommended CVACC to several people, and will continue doing so. Please take this negative review with a grain of salt - take your pet with you and visit the facility.

My Wife and I have been taking our little Yorkie, Peanut, to Crown Valley Animal Care Center, ever since he got sick in March 2013. It was very scary when out little guy was super weak and couldnt stand or walk more than a couple of steps. After a couple frantic calls, Crown Valley Animal Care was the only center willing to get to us right away. Right when we got there, Dr. Ivers met with us and checked peanut for external physical signs. Based on the color of his gums and the symptoms he suggested to do more test, draw blood, and keep him overnight for monitoring. Based on the initial lab results Dr. Ivers prescribed Prednisone to help Peanut stabilize. Dr. Ivers constantly contacted my wife and I after our initial visit, and showed great concern for our dogs health. He answered all of our questions and was very open and honest about his medical opinions. After a few days, when the blood lab results came in, Dr. Ivers was able to diagnose our dog with auto immune hemolytic anemia. Based on these finding and our own research we now know what to avoid to help prevent our puppy from relapsing. Since we started treating him with this medicine, Peanut has been back to normal and we have been working to slowly reduce his dosage. After some time we finally have him stabilized and back to normal. Yay!!! Ever since those event, Crown Valley has been our Vet, Grooming, and Boarding place of choice, and they have always given us good prices and good service. They always get us in when we call and its really nice to have someplace that knows us and Mr.Peanut by name. Great place!
