I took my dog in because she was urinating blood. She was treated for a UTI once before so I assumed it was the same this time. This was my first visit to this hospital. I would had gone to the Ontario Spay & Neuter clinic since thats where she was treated the last time. However, they were closed and I urgently needed to get my dog checked so I called Day Creek Animal Hospital and they were very nice. I spoke directly with the vet and he listened attentively. They didnt have appts until later that day, but they fit me in at a much earlier hour since they heard my urgency. So that was nice. I arrived on time and the front desk lady was super nice. She said they hadnt put me in the system most likely because it was a last minute appt. In any case she let me in one of the rooms to wait for the vet. He was great with my dog, he checked her thoroughly and asked me questions. Asked me if she had any issues with her ears, I said no. So they took her to the back to get a urine sample. The people at the Ontario Spay and Neuter had me leave her for most of the day to wait for her to pee and get a sample, so I asked the vet if I needed to leave her. He said it should just take 15min, so I assumed they were just gonna give her water and wait for her to pee. I didnt wait that long actually, it was probably like 5min and the vet came back in with a syringe containing my dogs urine to show me there was no blood. My dog came in looking very uncomfortable and shaking her head non-stop. He said they had cleaned her ear because apparently it was "really dirty", I was a bit surprised since he never mentioned that to me during the examination or even asked me if they could clean her ear at all. Before I came to this hospital, I sort of had an idea of how much I would be charged since I had already taken my dog to the Ontario Spay and Neuter clinic, it was around $150 - $180. So I thought more or less this is what I would most likely pay. However when the other guy (I cant remember his name), came in with the list of services and the prices, my jaw almost dropped $327, it was a lot more than I was expecting. I noticed the $30 charge for the ear cleaning that no one asked me about. I also noticed a couple of charges for antibiotic and inflammation, again I was not informed that she would be getting injected. They guy didnt really explained much about the services provided and simply said "this is what was recommended by the vet" AFTER they had already injected her and clean her ear. The ONLY service, they ACTUALLY needed my approval on was the blood test, which was an additional $195. I hesitated for a moment and said this was a lot more than I was charged at the other place. He said it was due to the blood test, but they wanted to confirm her kidneys were fine. So I agreed, but did not like the fact I was not informed on the other services. At the Ontario Spay & Neuter, they actually came in with the price list and explained to me exactly what they were going to do before they even took her to the back. In conclusion, I give this hospital 3 stars mainly because of their great customer service. However, they really need to work on informing people on the services they want to provide and get 100% approval from the customer BEFORE they perform those services. In my honest opinion that just loses my trust and I dont believe I will be coming back. I also felt that the prices were a bit too high compared to Ontario Spay & Neuter. I think, next time Ill just wait and just take her to the place I can actually trust.

Terrible Customer Service!!! They wont quote general prices over the phone. The Manager, Michael was rude and not helpful at all on the phone and then when I made a complaint in the office after my dogs appointment, Michael (the"Manager") spoke to me but took no responsibility for not adequately discussing potential pricing for their services. Its understandable to not be able to quote an exact price over the phone before examining the pet, but at the very least they could have answered what their prices are for the various services that could possibly be charged even if there are several. They took my dog to the back to clean his ears as we were there due to an ear infection. He wanted to see in his ear better so he took him to clean the ears. When the hygienist came back she had a quote of $233 with her. Ive attached a picture of the quote/estimate for services. I was upset for several reasons: the cost, the addition services and the multiple services. When I took a picture of the quote, the hygienist left the room quickly. She returned to tell me they would reduce the price. I explained to her that was not the point. She left again to get the Dr. When he came in he apologized and said they were reducing the charges and THEY ALREADY COMPLETED ALL OF THE SERVICES THAT WERE LISTED ON THE QUOTE!!! She returned with a reduced quote of $175 and asked me to sign it. Nope...didnt agree to that either. I cannot believe they even completed any services without me authorizing them to do so. The Dr was very nice and very apologetic when he came in. I told her I was going to pay and leave and to bring my dog. When I went to the front I was just more furious so I asked to speak to the Manager. She said Michael was the Manager! Oh the rude one, ok. Bring him out. Nope, they wanted me to go back in the room to speak to him in private. He was of no help and abruptly walked out of the room because he didnt like what I had to say. After all that, I went to the front and asked to speak with the Dr, he immediately came out. He again was very apologetic and offered to waive some of the fees, which I appreciated but was not the main basis of or for my complaints. He also offered me to return so he could follow up on my dogs ear infection and said he cared very much about animals and wanted to help within the community. I felt he was sincere. Before I left, Vanessa in the front apologized again. Upon taking my dog home, I noticed they cut the hair on his ears and it was very uneven. Done terribly. They could have taken a little more care when they did this, I had to fix it and he looked all lopsided. Poor dog. Beware...They are in need of better Customer Service and being more upfront concerning the cost of services. People expect to pay for services and would be more opt to trust your business if you are honest and upfront. Pet owners know vet services are not cheap, and will pay good money for good services. There is no reason to be deceitful and rude to your customers, MICHAEL!!!

If I could have given this place a negative five I would. I brought my dog in for heavy bleeding from his bottom. Doctor gave a physical exam and took a few x-rays after which point he said he swallowed some non food items that were caught in his intestine making it hard on his bowel movements. After stating he would need an IV drop, medication, specific foods, a stay over night to the next morning and 718$ later our furry friend would be back to normal. We paid $359 the night we dropped him off and would be paying the other half the next day. We waited and waited for them to call, when we called around 3 they said they were still waiting for the doctors clearance. Finally at 5:30 the next day, the receptionist called me to say our dog would be ready in 30 minutes. I then called my husband to go pick up our dog in 30 minutes as she stated (I was at work). She then called him right before 6 asking if he was going to come pick him up because they were about to close. Mind you, there hours state they are open until 8. So he had rushed over there to get him even though they originally stated 30 minutes. When he got there to pick up our dog, the lady at the front asked for the card we would be paying with and that our total was 490. (An extra $140 than the original price). Obviously upset about the price we asked why, she said oh the medicine we are sending him home with as well as his food isnt covered under the original quote. Which is not what we were originally told. She said there was nothing she could do about it because the doctor had already left and he sets the pricing. So reluctantly we had to pay the fee. My husband explained to the receptionist how I work at Lazy Dog restaurant and that we would be telling all of our customers what a joke this place was, it wasnt until then that she decided to throw in the can of food for free. Once we got our dog home, we realized his bottom was caked with dried blood and poop. His cone of shame was covered in throw up or poop or something else. The poor dog came home worse then when he went in. The doctor gave us three separate medicines, one of which he said was an anti-inflammatory, one was an antibiotic and one to help pass food along in his digestive tract. After coming home and inspecting the medicines we realized two of the medicines are exactly the same but charged us for both separately. We are very very dissatisfied for the situation this hospital has put us in. The staff isnt upfront about the costs, they do whatever they can to nickel and dime people, and charge for treatment that we didnt consent to yet. They dont seem very friendly with the animals and it is very needless to say we will never be coming back and we strongly suggest you dont either.
