My dog Max is a high-energy Pit Bull that I rescued from a life of guard duty chained to a tree in a dirt yard. He is very affectionate to our family members but automatically reverts to guard mode around strangers. When we arrived for our first visit, I went inside to see if they had a muzzle to lend prior to bringing Max inside because I feared his reaction to new people particularly with other animals present. Max is not socialized with any other animals that we know of yet, his behavior upon entering was something to behold. You could have pushed me over with a feather, so surprised was I by the way Max responded to the staff and the environment. He did try to get at other animals, but he was so friendly with the staff it was as if he knew them already. He stood on his hind legs so he could see the people behind the counter, tail wagging so hard his head was like a bobble head! When the first Technician entered the examination room Max reacted like it was a long lost friend, tail wagging, friendly, totally different from how he reacts to people we encounter anywhere else. Having experience as a former K9 Police Officer, I understand how dogs sense the intentions of humans and the way Max responded to virtually everyone employed by the Pet Hospital tells me a lot about the caliber of people at this facility. They are good people that care about the animals in their charge and the animals sense it and react accordingly. I have never seen a dog react so favorably to a visit to a Veterinary facility, sort of how I view a trip to the dentist I suppose, but clearly the experience is positive for Max, and for that, I am forever grateful. Lastly, any pet owner who brings a seriously ill or injured animal to such a facility is expecting a painful bill at the end of the service. Not so here at Pet Hospital! Max had a medical issue that could have led to complications if not treated, but frankly I feared the cost might be prohibitive. To my amazement, the actual cost at the end of the day was LESS than the quoted cost by a significant amount. Prior to treatment they review every possible cost to avoid surprises and to allow us to make treatment decisions knowing where the cost could possibly lead. So when I was advised of how much the final invoice was for his major surgery I thought there was a mistake, an omission perhaps? No, it was simply the way they operate, with efficiently, and the savings go to the patient (or the financially responsible party). Lastly, this past Halloween they had a party at the facility for the families of the pets, something they do every year. As we visited various booths and participated in auctions, it was apparent that they are active within this community because we were in the company of hundreds of other patients and family members. The good doctor obviously enjoys his hard-won position in the community and his standards for the staff are clearly very high. I would not take Max anywhere else, ever, because I feel that the all around quality of the experience is unrivaled! P. Minns Orange, Ca

We had been looking for a new vet but just hadnt found any that we really felt comfortable with. We previously had pet insurance but discontinued it because we just werent using it. I purchased a Groupon for Pet Assure (an awesome discount program) which provided me a list of vets that take their program in the area. I went to the website for this office and was impressed at the list of services. From the moment I called for the appointment, I have been nothing less short of thrilled at the care weve received. The person that took that first appointment was friendly, helpful and pleasant. Dr. Mantecon is wonderful - kind, caring and most of all approachable. It is clear that she loves animals which shows in her compassion. Our older doggy was declining and she provided us with the best options in providing palliative care for him. She took time in testing him so that he wouldnt be overstressed and called me with the results. I also liked that the vet tech held my doggy while the vet was examining him, providing firmness but also kindness so that the vet could examine him in the best possible way. I was provided in advance with an estimate of services and given the ability to make the choices on which ones I was able to afford BEFORE the treatment began which I really appreciated. I was provided with information not only on how to care for my doggy but what to do should he collapse. I took both of my doggies for grooming and was impressed with the way the intake person took the time to talk to me about alternatives for the way I wanted them groomed. They did a beautiful job on both of my dogs. I especially appreciate the way they took time with my older doggy, giving him breaks during the grooming to avoid stressing him out. Unfortunately, his heart gave out and he died at the hospital following his grooming. I cannot tell you how wonderful the staff was - from Dr. Mantecon calling me to tell me that he was gone and patiently answering all of my questions and letting me cry to the kindness we encountered when we arrived. We were given the opportunity to say goodbye and to make our arrangements before picking up our other doggy. Throughout the entire process, we felt respected and cared for. The week following his death, we received a card in the mail from the entire grooming staff - each member of the staff had not only signed it but had written something heartfelt about our sweet boy! I cannot tell you how much that meant to us as we had him since he was a puppy. We have finally found our new vet! Thank you Pet Hospital and Dr. Mantecon!

I brought my dog in to review for kennel cough -- hes coughed up hairballs all of his life but it was just sounding more intense. Upon review of my pet the tech suggested a problem because his heart rate was very high -- um, yeah, hes terrified of the vet...he only reacts this way when we go. Rather than accept this, Dr. Carolina Rossi wanted to do an EKG, Xray, Senior Panel, and charge me $1,000. Considering hes done a senior panel just 2 years ago and a follow up last year showed improvements in his lab, that was just asinine. The tech didnt listen to a friggin thing I said -- I told her that we were going on a road trip in 4 months and I wanted something to protect against fleas and ticks. The estimate showed for one tablet to be taken immediately ($54 for that one). She kept assuring me that it would be good in his system for 3 months if he took it right away. Really?? They never tested for kennel cough. Their explanation to me was that the heart issue was more pressing. I refused to pay the exam fee because there were no services rendered for what I brought him in for and Im not paying some crackpot, money hustling, new to the practice vet for an estimate for her witch-doctoring. Now, reflecting on our services...apparently we are still relatively new clients -- just three years now. Just one year into service this place recommended a senior panel and prescription dog food -- and I agreed for my pets health. It appears that perhaps you just cater to senior pets and suggesting they need more of your unnecessary services than are needed. Add to this that my dog is moving out of the country in four months (which you knew about) and you want to tap into the last chance to make $$$. Its disgusting. (see other reviews of Dr Rossi pushing stuff to senior pets) We wont be back.
