If I could give this place a negative star review I would. Despite all the changes in ownership I am continually discouraged by the care at this hospital. Last time it was my paperwork was all wrong and took forever for a dog in shock from a bee sting. Literally, not one vet assistant or doctor came to check if my pet was okay even though I told the receptionist my dog was having trouble breathing and her tongue was purple. This time (the only reason I returned is because they were the ONLY day practice open on a holiday, and our reg Vet was completely booked) They wanted to charge an astronomical price for meds that I checked online were .36 cents a tab. They wanted $71.50 for a suspension and when I asked for tablets they lied and said they didnt have any. When I told them I would get the tablets some where else with a written Rx all of a sudden they had them and wanted to charge $40 for, like I said .36/tablet for a 15 day supply at one tablet a day. You do the math. My pets both had been suffering from food poisoning from a pet food which is another matter. BTW, I am a well seasoned vet tech with 6 years of experience under her belt who has ran multiple veterinary practices and was pre-vet for 6 years before I made a career change, so I know what I am talking about. After I left I was in contact with the pet food company (who was very quick to respond to the matter and will be testing the food and covering my expenses), and they asked for the medical records and an estimate for future testing to ensure no permanent damage had been done to my pets vital organs. Do you think I could get the records for the exam that I paid $35 for? Nope, it took not one, two,or three, but four days to get my records which still has NO DIAGNOSIS or SUSPECTED DIAGNOSIS which I was so clear every time I called, which was around 6 times, that I needed it for the vet on staff at the food company. What I got was a written memoir of what I said during the exam. Not one written sentence, NOT ONE, from the vet. Who btw, wanted to suggest that my dog had pancreatitis after only a few hours of vomiting and diarrhea which both not just one pet was doing. I mean hello, thirsty for tests much? If I just told you that both my pets became ill at the exact same time because of a food they ingested it probably no it absolutely means it came from the food. It doesnt mean that all of sudden both my pets became ill from a food a now she has pancreatitis. This is bad medicine, bad service, over the top prices, and you get to wait for ever as your dog may be turning purple and die. Dont go here. If you want an amazing pet clinic, Anaheim Hills Vet on La Palma is amazing and our Reg Vet. I will be reporting them to the Veterinary Medical Board for mismanagement of Veterinary Records among other things. I also want to note that the bad service had nothing to do with Jenny and Gabby up front, they are amazing and are probably the only good thing at that hospital.

This place cares about your money and humiliating you more than helping your pet. I spent $256 to have my 14 year old cat euthanized. I was guilt tripped beyond reason for not having the money to have blood work done when the vet was telling me he was likely in renal failure. This was my second appointment here. My first appointment was spent sitting in a room from 5:30 until after 7. Ten minutes of that was with any one actually in the room with me. Then the day I arrived to have him euthanized, the veterinarian was upset that I was "refusing" to have blood work run. It was Monday, I would not be paid until Friday. I had $260 to my name until Friday. I wouldnt have a day off from my new job until Sunday. My cat was suffering. Blood work was $208, the exam was $35. If I had paid for blood work, my cat would have suffered for a week because I would have used all of my money to pay for blood work. Renal failure potential. He was refusing food. His brother was suddenly attacking him. He was pacing 24/7, hardly stopping his last twelve hours. My cat was suffering. No sympathy here, just guilt that I should give him to someone who would pay for his tests. But, no, they didnt know of anyone who would take him. No answers of ideas to try unless I paid for blood work. I was flatly told my cat was acting normal. He was not. Not by a long shot. He was in distress. He refused food Sunday night and Monday morning. He was pacing endlessly. He was confused and getting stuck in corners. They left me in the room for an hour while my cat cried in terror. Half an hour after I was put in the room, the vet came in. I was the first person there. I told them my cat was suffering. Another half an hour passed before a tech came to get him to take him back to put a catheter in. They treated me so badly that I left him and did not stay to hold him while he passed. The guilt trips were too damaging and painful to endure. At this point, he was freaked out too bad to even respond to my petting. I paid the bill and I left. Not one of the three staff even tried to act sorry or that they felt I was anything less than a monster. I called later and stated I wanted a call from the office manage to discuss the inhumanity and disrespectful treatment. It has been a solid week. No call. No sympathy card. This clinic doesnt care about you, your pet, your time or anything except your check book balance. Dont go here expecting them to honor your appointment time. Dont expect kindness. Expect cold judgement. Expect no call back if you complain. A letter is being sent to the CA Veterinary board in complaint against this clinic. I waited a week to see if I would get a call back or even a sympathy card. Nothing. If you have to choose between allowing your pet to die untreated or going here, dont darken this door. You will have a traumatic experience made worse by the callous behavior.

I took my 16 year old miniature pinscher, Canela, for a senior checkup. This was our first time at Orange Villa. Dr Dahlem was her doctor. I was very much impressed with the clinic/hospital the minute I walked in. The staff is friendly and accommodating, they gave me the impression that they care and are good listeners. The clinic while not new is certainly well organized, equipped and above all clean. Canela had a senior canine exam, had biopsy of what looked like a skin tumor, Dr Dahlem analyzed the scrapings in house and prescribed antibiotics, which have been helping her. She also had blood work done and two days later, Dr Dahlem calls me with the results and his interpretation. With the visit/exam, I was given very detailed color patient chart describing the results of Canelas physical and vitals. Three pages describing more about Canela than I ever knew. I learned a lot about Canela just reading her chart. Attached to that was a medication data sheet page describing all I need to know about her prescribed medication. Following that, more general color pages titled "Wellness in Geriatric Dogs" with diagrams. My account of this visit, described above, has just plain and simple facts. The real reason I recommend Orange Villa follows: What impressed me more is how well Canela was treated by the veterinary assistant doing initial intake and measuring vitals. It was quite lengthy and detailed. It was very caring and respectful of Canela. Very much appreciated. Then I met Dr Dahlem, who seems to know his line of work very well as he has been doing do for many decades. He spent an extraordinary amount of time with us, probing, asking questions and answering mine. I am lucky my human doctor spend five minutes with me ! Dr Dahlem diagnosed Canela accurately based on results of the medications he prescribed and Canela now doing so well. And as I said earlier, he followed up with a call telling me the results of the blood work, explaining each components significance. Yes I am impressed with Dr Dahlem and the operation overall. I trust Dr Dahlem and am grateful that his staff is so supportive. Based on this, I cancelled Canelas upcoming two week boarding where she has been going to for quite a while and will board her at Orange Villa. My wife and I know Canela will be well cared for at Orange Villa. I highly recommend taking your pet to Orange Villa, they care and certainly do things well over there.
