This is my experience with the Pasadena emergency clinic (sorry if its too detail). I have a maltese recently got attacked by a wild cat while doing her business in the backyard at night (we live near the mountain). There was a quarter-size bloody circular wound on her thigh. I brought her in to the Pasadena Emergency Clinic. First, they brought my dog in for examination while I filled out the information form. Then I was placed in a room to wait for the doctor to listen to her observation. The first thing she said after entering the room was "it is a pretty deep wound. There are muscle torn in the thigh and itll need surgical operation to repair the muscle. We can perform the surgery here tonight." She even "showed" me how "deep and sever" the wound is by pressing on the wound and said theres a hollow area due to the attack. I pressed it and it felt like soft tender meat, not hollow to me. Anyway, she later gave me a quotation of minimum $943 up to $1200 for the surgery. I was debating whether to take the recommendation. I put my dog on the floor wanting to see if she can walk. She walked slowly with her tail down. So I told the doctor to just give my dog the out-patient treatment and Ill bring her in to our primary family vet in the morning. They did that for my dog and we left (after paying over $200 for the exam, one shot of painkiller, one shot of antibiotics and cleaning the wound area). In the morning I brought her in to our family vet, he examined her, pressed her wound and said shes fine. Its just a clean puncture wound on the thigh. If there was muscle torn, the leg would collapse when she attempted to stand. At the end, our family vet gave a bottle of antibiotics (oral) to prevent infection and a bottle of pain reliever (oral) to make her feel better while letting the wound heal itself and all that cost just a little more than $60 compare to $943+. God knows what they would do to her if I had agreed to do the surgery. I gave the emergency clinic one more star because they did help my dog felt better that night with the shots of painkiller and antibiotics (for infection). In conclusion, they are there to help you if you know what you need but they do not necessary give you the honest opinion.

My cat is better, I was blown away by how comfortable he was with you guys (even though he is usually skiddish with strangers and HATED the last time we went to the vet), and all of you were so helpful and friendly since the first phone call! I would DEFINITELY recommend this place. I brought my cat, Hoover, in yesterday, 5/30, Saturday around 6:00 pm. I was extremely happy with all the staff here. The only thing was the cost was more than I expected, however, that was completely fair since they were honest from my first call in that it would be emergency room hours. I got home from work yesterday, and saw that my cat vomited a few times that day and had diarrhea, and he looked uncomfortable and was rubbing is butt on the floor. The poor thing was uncomfortable and messy. So I called to ask questions on if I should bring him in, and they were extremely helpful from the beginning. When I brought my cat in, of course he was scared because he hates the cat carrier and is usually skiddish with new people. But compared to the last time I took him to the vet, it seemed he was much more comfortable with the the staff here. He was actually purring when the woman there was checking his vitals. Dr. Wang was honest about what was necessary, and said that his symptoms could be wide range of things. He gave me the option on weather or not to do more expensive tests to try and diagnose, but was honest and told me since he is eating and his vitals are fine, its not necessary right away. But he said if he still has symptoms in a couple days to bring him back. They gave him medication there, and some food samples to take home that would be better for his digestive system. They also gave some meds to take home for him, and showed me how to administer them. They even cleaned him up for me too because the poor thing was smelly. As soon as I got him home he was SOOO much better! He was even calm and purring and back to his snuggly self, with absolutely no lingering anxiety from JUST being at the vet. I wish I remember the other two staff members names because they were fantastic also. Thank all of you so so much!! I am so impressed by how great you were with him. It was such a relief to have him happy and healthy again so quickly!!

We took our dog there in an emergency situation and they could not have been more UNpleasant. First we got there and signed in, the receptionist was busy helping someone else, after she finished, she came up to the front window and instead of helping us she closed to window to talk on the phone. When she finally finished her call she came up to the window and acknowledged us. She took our paperwork and left. She later returned and took our dog; when she came back again, she said we have to sign an estimate. I told her I wanted to speak to a vet before we signed any paperwork. The receptionist was very rude and would not get the vet; we kept arguing with her until she finally went to the back. After 5-10 minutes the vet came out and basically called us STUPID for not signing the paperwork. When we told the vet what we wanted she said that it is going against medical advice and we would need to sign paperwork that we were not willing to pay $700-900 for them to do unnecessary testing. They would not even let us see our dog. The vet finally gave our dog the injection that we requested and the receptionist brought her out to us; she just said “Here’s your dog” when I asked what was given to our dog, she replied “I don’t know, the vet knows what she’s doing” and then she left us sitting in the lobby for another 15 minutes. We wanted to just pay and go home but no one came to the front. Finally someone walked in the front door, it was Dominoes Pizza delivering their 2 pizzas, the receptionist sure ran out fast for that. After she paid, she disappeared to the back again. We waited another 5 minutes. Finally one of the vet techs came out and had us sign the paperwork saying that we declined medical advice and explained some things to us, he was the only one who seemed to care about our dog. After that, the receptionist finally let us pay and didn’t even say “thank you.” We left very dissatisfied! The next day I spoke to our vet and he said we did the right thing by not leaving our dog there. If you need emergency service for your pets, please find another place to go. I will NEVER go there again.

This evening (October 14, 2016) at approximately 7:30 pm, I attempted to administer subcutaneous fluids to my Yorkshire terrier, Kimba, as directed by TLC Animal Hospital in South Pasadena. I made 5 unsuccessful attempts, so I contacted TLC, but was advised there were no appointments available until Monday. TLC diagnosed my dog with chronic kidney failure on Sunday, October 9, 2016 and she remained in their care for three days. On Wednesday, October 12, 2016, I was advised that she had to have subcutaneous treatments daily. Prior to me taking her home, a very nice technician gave me a quick demonstration on how it was suppose to be done. I was trying to take it all in as my head was spinning in disbelief, because I had never had to do this before. On Thursday, I was unsuccessful in getting the needle inserted, so I went to TLC and Jesus administers the fluid for $13. On Friday, October 14, 2016, my husband and I could not get the needle properly inserted. We were distraught, so I called around and Animal-AM Emergency Clinic of Pasadena told me to bring her in. I asked what the cost would be, so I could obtain the funds and was advised, so long as I had the products, it would be free of charge. OMG! I wouldve paid anything, but I was so impressed with that response. I rushed my dehydrated Kimba to their facility and was greeted by a young asian male, who was so kind and gentle with my Kimba! I cant thank you enough. I do not write reviews, but this was such a wonderful act of kindness, I felt compelled to say thank you, I really appreciated your kindness. I was so worried about my pet not being properly hydrated, because I was incapable of doing what I was instructed to do. Kimba is a member of my family and watching her suffer from dehydration, because I was incapable of inserting that fluid made me feel absolutely helpless! I cannot thank you enough. You truly were my hero this evening. If your facility ever needs volunteers for anything, please do not hesitate to ask, so long as its not inserting needles!:) Roshon
