We were referred to Dr. Goraya by the Affordable Veterinary Referral service when our 4 year old Australian terrier Desi accidentally fell off of a 5 stairway landing severing the anterior cranial cruciate ligament in her left hind leg shortly after our move from HI to LA 6 mos. ago. Since I was unemployed at the time, and since Dr. Goraya is one of the few vets in the area that also still performs the older fishing line technique in appropriate situations in addition to the state of the art but costlier TPLO surgery that most vets now perform, Dr. Goraya offered to do the older fishing line technique surgery on Desi since it is significantly less expensive and works fine in smaller dogs and since Desi is only 19 lbs. As a medical professional myself, I was impressed not only with the fact that Dr. Goraya offered to do the surgery for a fraction of the cost of any of the other quotes received for the same surgery from other local veterinarians, but that he took the time to fully explain the difference in both procedures, and also took the time to provide a list of cost saving options prior to performing the surgery including but not limited to heart monitoring and anesthetic/pain medication. Since Desi is young and otherwise in good health, we opted out of the heart monitoring option but of course did opt for the anesthetic/pain medication. Since Desis injury would not have healed on its own, and she could not put any weight on her left hind leg until it was surgically repaired, Desi owes her ability to again walk normally and pain free on all 4s just as she was able to do before her injury to the compassion and generosity of Dr. Goraya. Our son has since also taken his Australian terrier puppy Guardian to Dr. Goraya who was able to accurately diagnose and treat a bladder infection missed by his previous veterinarian. Guardian has since been seen by Dr. Gorayas associate Dr. Kim, for routine veterinary care as well. We were impressed not only with Dr. Kims professional knowledge, but found him to be a very caring and conscientious individual as well. Based on the, quality and value of the care provided to our dogs by the veterinarians at Pico Rivera Animal Hospital, even though the clinic is over 20 mi. from our house, we will continue to take our dogs there.

As with any person/place, there are always both good and bad qualities and events that take place. My little Shih Tzu, Daisy, had to go to PRAH twice due to jaw injury. The first time, the receptionist was on the phone incessantly while attempting to give me very important discharge instructions. As a result, she put the wrong dosage on her pain medicine instructions which could have resulted in an overdose. As I was at home preparing to give it to her, the dose did not make sense to me so I called them. Turned out the decimal was in the wrong place. Other than that, the surgery went very well. When the plate in her jaw slipped (no fault of the vet) 6 months later, Dr. Goraya did her surgery at no cost (except for the new plate and anesthesia). He also flushed her jaw with antibiotics for an hour - putting him behind for the rest of the day. When he held my little baby, I could tell that he genuinely cared about her. She was VERY nervous and shaking violently. After a moment of his gently holding her and speaking to her softly, she stopped shaking at all and was very responsive to the rest of the examination. After all the extra time he took in surgery, he still took MORE time to call me three times that day and told me that, if necessary, he would come in on his day off if I needed to come on that day. (We live a considerable distance from Pico Rivera). We, my dog and I, are very happy with PRAH - just be sure to get correct instructions and make them speak to you when they are not on the phone! Oh, and ask for Dr. Goraya!!!! Tell him Debbie and Daisy sent you!

I am an animal rescuer and I also show dogs. Therefore, it is very important to me to have a very skilled vet and staff who know what theyre doing and are willing to work with me (I have enough knowledge to be a pain at times with all my questions and all the animals needs). I have brought hundreds of animals to Pico Rivera Animal Hospital over the years, both those Ive rescued as well as show dogs, and each animal is given the same loving care, no matter what their origins are. I have also referred more people than I can count to him, and all of them have been thrilled with the treatment their pets got from this hospital. I have been going to Pico Rivera Animal Hospital now for about 40 years, starting when Dr. Clark was still the owner. When Dr. Goraya purchased the practice, things got even better. He is an incredible diagnostician, and a master surgeon, I believe he is probably one of most expert vets on the west coast when it comes to orthopedic surgery, which he specializes in. The prices are very reasonable and his staff is also very caring and professional. Everyone there truly cares about the animals and take a personal interest in properly caring for each and every patient. I dont usually write any reviews on line, but after searching for 5 years, trying to find a good vet, and finally discovering Pico Rivera Animal Hospital, I cannot recommend them enough, they are truly one in a million and will always do their best to help your pet. HIGHLY recommend!

In reference to the posting below, i have taken my pet to pico rivera animal hospital, and all procedures and prices were clearly explained to me, the price of spay and also the optional procedures they offer, I found they were very professional and concerned w/ all their patients thats why they offer such pre-cautions for caring and concerned pet owners as myself. Although the parking can be a little difficult sometimes, I recommend if you go there and dont understand the procedures you can always ask questions their staff is always willing to explain PRIOR to procedures, and I know they had me sign a form for these procedures as Im sure they have everyone else do the same. The surgery price is reasonable and all the other procedures are only done if the pet owner approves. Ive been to other hospitals where the price of the surgery alone was outrageous! then to add other procedures. All in all my experience with this office is a positive and will continue to take my pet and future pets to a place that is more concerned about the pets health than money.

For over 20 years we have been taking our precious rescues to a Vet in Monerey Park who we trust immensely but who also charged a pretty penny. We live just a few minutes from Pico Rivera Animal Hospital and last year had a animal emergency which couldnt wait for us to travel to our usual vet. We prayed that PR Animal Hospital would work for us so we went in. The care our pet received matched the care we had been paying so much money for over the years AND with the bill being only half as much! Slowly, we have begun to integrate our pack to this new hospital and they are quickly earning our full trust. They are fast, efficient and budget friendly. We never thought we would find another place that we could trust our pets care to. THANK YOU PICO RIVERA ANIMAL HOSPITAL from the bottom of our hearts. You are a small and humble establishment who has the care and experience of the very best out there
