UPDATE: I took my dog to another vet for a second opinion, and clearly the symptoms of parvo were spelled out. The new vet could not believe, even upon the blood tests, how A&B missed the mark.. heck! missed the freakin boat! WE initially took our dog in to Above and Beyond assuming that he could possibly have parvo, and what we came out with was a diagnosis of mere "stress".... NOW MY DOG HAS A 50/50 chance of living.. currently on watch at the new pet hospital. End Update. First off, the front desk girls were rude and unhelpful. Ill give you that it was early morning, so maybe they had a crabby morning.. Regardless, they quickly brushed me off whenever I had a question, and the only time I was approached with a little courtesy was when a payment was asked to be made. I came in because my dog was throwing up and had a bout of diarrhea - we feared it could possibly be parvo virus after researching on the internet and talking with our neighbors. Like the majority of the reviews here, they asked to take a ridiculous amount of "lab tests" and blood tests without telling me a proper diagnosis, and foolishly I agreed, for the sake of my dog. They ended up injecting him with fluids, where my dog walked out with a baseball-sized lump on his back, saying itll hydrate him and have him stop throwing up.. umm.. well, Ill have you know, the rest of the day and all through the night, my dog was feeling worse, throwing up even more and having the runs consistently. Anything he ate or drank would immediately come out of one or both ends. I called to notify the vet and staff of this info.. only to get a response that it was "because of stress and hell be fine." (right..) Test results come in the next day, they say he needs more fluids in his system.. yes, not knowing any better, I went in again (instead of going to another vet).. and had my dog receive the same expensive (toxic) fluid injection.. now I sit here typing away angered at 12:38am.. because my dog is in fighting for his life.. because this "injection" has left him heaving and spewing out his stomach acids since theres nothing left to throw up... IN CONCLUSION.. ABOVE AND BEYOND PET CLINIC = FAIL. DONT GO THERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BREAK YOUR WALLET AND FEEL BAD TO YOUR DOG FOR TAKING HIM THERE.

These people killed our sweet kitty. His name was Blacky. Such a sweet cat, loved to play, would come and hug you, this little guy would literally purr all day. Blacky had developed a stoppage in his urethra (crystal deposits). The doctor insisted we would have to perform a surgery to essentially remove his penis (for 1500.00). Well I didnt exactly have that laying around, so it took me a few days (by the way this was in conjunction with the 450.00 I paid for the visit plus some "crystal disolving" cat food and medicine.) He sent us home with instructions to periodically squeeze my cats bladder (and showed me how to force the cat to urinate, as if my cat wasnt already in agony... poor thing would cry when I tried). Throughout the next 2 days I am calling to state my progress (to include a friend from work willing to put the charge on a credit card over the phone which they refused) , to assure the vet that I am trying to find a way to get Blacky back in for surgery, to get assurance that I am doing the right thing, that there are no other options. By Friday I had raised the money, and called to confirm I could bring Blacky in for the emergency surgery. The receptionist answers, OH, the doctor only stays half a day on Friday and hes not going to be in Saturday; but we are really concerned for your cat so you should seek emergency service because he may not live through the weekend." Friday evening, finds my family and I at the Emergency Vet Clinic in Bellflower. Turns out, all Blacky needed was a $500.00 catheter... He would have lived, but his kidneys had failed while these people played games. Three days of dialysis later, we made the decision as a family to put our poor kitty to sleep. You murdered our cat. We will never forgive you. You self absorbed greedy pieces of shhhh...

Attention! I took my dog to Above and Beyond Animal Clinic the 20th, 21st and the 24th. They Charged me $595 for Hazzard waste, EKG, Blood work, Injection/anesthetics , Amoxicillan, Bandages, 2 nail removal, A cone and "Fluids". They gaver her the wrong prescription, and they did NOT use any anesthetic when they removed her claws. I heard her cry; I told the clerk I need to be in there now and what about sedating her!? the clerk said: you cant go back there and your dog is just worried. They ripped off her nails without anything. Then they pumped in her an iv for "stress". Also they tried to have me give my dog thyroid meds that if taken she would need to be on them Forever. If she stops them the meds would cause severe side effects. (I did not give them to her). We went back the 24th to remove her bandages. They turned us away bc there were to many people. I asked them if it was the right pills to give her because the pill numbers were for Metronidazole when she Needed and what I was charged for was Amoxicillin. They said yes they are right and checked. Sure enough it was wrong; then they gave me the right pills and said they are free of charge. I dont think those desk clerks are certified to handle medication. They would not give me a copy of the invoice or her record. They said its policy. I asked to see their policies. They dont have any. The "Temp Dr."(she has been there well over a year) Grant knew what was going on but she did not acknowledge us. She did not have a business card or anything. I am EXTREMELY FURIOUS. Im going to take this to the Better Business Bureau, Animal activists and seek legal advice. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS TO Above And Beyond in Downey! They are _Butchers_ that want to take your pets life as much as they want your money.

I have had the worst experience with this vet. I brought my pet because of allergies and they charged me for a blood test to see if the allergy meds were ok for my dog. 179 dollars later they gave me the meds which latter I found out from another vet, that the blood test was not needed. This vet operates like a mechanic shop, they take advantage of the owners love for their pet and they scare you into test and shots that your pet does not even need. This is their routine, first they charge you $20 for the visit up front, then the tall wanna be hippie with the stupid red glasses who is the vet,who by the way drives a porsche (gee I wonder how he can afford such a nice car) comes in with such a I really condesending attitude towards the owner of the pet he dismisses the owners concerns and never makes eye contact. Then he exits comes in the one of the receptionist and tries to sell you the test, med, vitamins or anything they can to get money out of you. If you are wondering how is it that Im so detailed in this review, well its because I have been stupid enough to have come here 3 times and its all the same routine. This is not a vet its a mechanic shop that tries to sucker into buying the extra service that your car does not need. I gave this vet 3 chances and they failed horribly I hope this review helps a concerned pet owner.
