I took my doberman here after doing asking around for an experienced doberman vet. Even though they were almost an hour and a half away I wanted him seen by the most knowledgeable and one that has a cardiologist that comes in the office. My doberman was a week shy of two and has suffered from Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy since he was 5 months old. I took the day off work and took him in on Friday 3/24/17 because I noticed his pain coming back. They were able to squeeze me in only waiting an hour with no appointment. When I walked him back to the exam room the tech made a comment about him limping, I said yes and gave a brief explanation. When the vet came into see us, Dr. Winters, I provided her with Nixons entire health history from the previous vet along with xrays of his progression. I also showed her videos of him reacting in pain from the night before and his progression from 5 months. She then examined him and said he is in noticeable pain he wouldnt even put weight on his left leg. Dr. Winter said, yes it is definitely HODS. She then said she could treat him with out xrays but they would be interesting to see. I said the cost is not issue, I just want him out of pain and since it was a year prior I would like to see how his bones are now. She then started going over all this treatment and listed these two things she would give him. Also, detailed about how she wanted him back in a week or two for acupuncture and how she wanted he fill his "lantern" up and heal him from the inside. I said that is fine, also I said since he is coming up on two in a week and this is his annual should he have blood work down? After all he has been on Tramadol off and on since he was 5 months old. She said it wasnt needed and that a tech would come back with my estimate. I believe it was $335 or around there. After the x ray, she came into explain them I said no I would rather look at them while you are explaining so she brought me in the back. It was then I took photos with my phone of all the xrays and she said that a radiologist should look at them for $150 to make sure. I said no problem, I completely agree. Checking out the bill was almost or over $700, Id have to look back to double check that. But whatever I was just happy that he was getting something to feel better. That evening he was in excruciating pain. Im talking HOURS of barking, whining and focus on his limbs. So much so at 10:30 that night I went to the store and got Benedryl to try and take the edge off along with heating pads on him. That morning. I called at 10:36 am on Saturday I called explaining to Francesca what was going on and that he is in significant pain. She assured me the vet would call me back but she was the only on there. I called again at 2 because I knew they were getting ready to close at 4, she put me on hold while she went and talked to the vet. While on hold I hear they offer cold laser therapy for pain, strange I never got offered that. She finally came back and said yes, what the vet prescribed you you will not be able to see relief for at least TWO WEEKS! I said well, what are we supposed to do in the mean time? She said that the vet suggested Gabapentin in the mean time and if I could get there in time to pick it up. I explained several times how far I was and at this point in the day it is not possible, I would have rushed over if they had responded to my concerns in the morning. I then suggested they call a pharmacy near here or a vets office by my house that does ER care and is always open. Francesca said that she was going to call Costco Pharmacy and Yorba Linda Regional Hospital, the one by my house. She then calls me past 4, their closing time and says that none of those Pharmacies carried that drug. She said they vet said her hands are tied and basically he is out of luck. Took him to an ER vet after an they prescribed me the same stuff Francesca said she called about. This office is neglectful and the manger will not respond to concerns about the staff. They also will not let you speak with the owner of the practice.

My fiancee and I took our Bulldog to this vet based on a recommendation, We should have known from the very begging that this was a mistake, when the receptionist was rude to us. The Vets Assistant was very nice and very polite. The vet was polite yet very cocky, said a previous vet we had gone to had no idea what they were talking about and said it was a goos thing we brought our dog to her. She soon prescribbed a very expensive dog food that they sold there, and a antibiotic for our dog and we were sent on our way. Once home our dog reacted horribly, vomiting food, and white foam constantly, Obviously a bad reaction, called the vet, didnt hear back for a whole day, (this is a week day) told us we should continue that the dog would adjust. Needless to say the dog got even worse and we had to bring him in on a saterday. Where a weekend vet, took him off all his madication and gave him an i.V because the dog was dehydrated. Pooof everything was better. Told us we should do some blood work just to make sure, everything was ok and check Thyroid. Very nice woman, went home with great sense of relief and some comfort that mybe this weekend vet was much nicer. 1 week goes by and we are curiose to see if the blood work is ok. We call, and are promised a call back. 2 more days go by, nothing. another week goes by after repeated calls..nothing. We finally get a call back from the vet. Everything is fine no Thyroid issue blood seems good. Releaved yet still uncomfortable about treatment form vet, especially since they came highly recommended. About a month goes by, dog is doing well, healthy, but skin issue is still very persistant. I notice the improvement had plateaued. Prescription dog food, also runs out and we realize vet never gave us a prescriptcion. Since the vet never called us back, in order to get a prescription, we decided to stop at another vet, in a pinch to get our doggies food. Open visit we decided to get blood work also faxed over, while we were they, might as well get a check out you know. Turns out the dog has a thyroid issue after all. Clearly says it from the lab work faxed in from Rose City, yet were told "everything is fine". Needly to say both our new vet and us were very surprised by their lack of professionalism. Truly an astonishment, and quite frankly just down right frustrating. argghhh. I guess sometimes although your instinct tells you something isnt right,, you should probably listen. With the amount of money that Vet offices make, being a cash business, they should be on the ball with our loved ones health. this is just sad, and they should be ashamed of the quality of their work.

I was referred to Rose city Vet from my local Vet because my dog was making a gurgling sound and having difficulty breathing when breathing. When I took my dog there they found out that she had an elongated soft palate, and that she will need surgery. They gave us the price for the surgery. We ask for her to be spayed while she is under anesthesia. After the surgery we picked her up and she still had the same gurgling sound and still having difficulty breathing. We called and the dr. said that its normal after surgery. A week went by and it seemed like nothing changed, so we took her to get checked and the dr. said she has stitches in the throat (I thought it was weird sense the surgery was done with laser). She advised us to come back in about 2 months when her throat it’s fully healed. Two months passed by and we come back and the Dr. told me she needs to put her under anesthesia to check her throat (weird since she didn’t have to do that last time I brought her in). I leave my dog there they call me back while my dog is under anesthesia and they tell me that she had tissue that needs to be removed from her throat and if want them to go ahead and preform a second surgery since she is already under the anesthesia. I came back to pick up my dog and they charged me the full amount for the same surgery again. I asked why I am being charged for the same surgery again! Shouldn’t you fix whatever problem I came here to get fixed in the first place? Well apparently that’s not how it works at this vet office. I was even willing to pay for half but the full amount is just ridiculous. They refused to release my dog until I paid the full amount again. I’m advising to whoever goes to his vet to keep in mind that they do not care about your pet what they care about is getting paid.
