I researched laser eye surgery for about a year before having the procedure done. I have worn glasses since the 3rd grade, so I cant remember living without them. Since I was a kid, I was always afraid of losing my vision. As an adult, I was so dependent on my glasses that I literally called them "my eyes." After having my first child, I realized that if I ever lost or broke my glasses in an emergency, I wouldnt be able to protect my daughter-and that terrified me! Many other things came to my attention regarding my vision so I finally faced my fears and went in for a free consultation with Dr. Reed. From the get go, Dr. Reed was kind, caring, understanding and calm. He never pressured me and even encouraged me to go see other doctors to make sure I made the right decision for me. He advised that if I had the surgery, I would have to have PRK done because I had thin corneas and high nearsightedness/astigmatism. I was impressed by the professionalism and care of the entire office. Sabrina, the office manager, was so patient in answering all my quesitons and commended me for being so thorough. I was very nervous and scared to have surgery and deal with the longer recovery period associated with PRK, but Dr. Reeds confidence and positive attitude reassured me. Now, four months later, I am 20/15-rare for how strong my perscription was!! I feel so blessed that I healed so well and that I had the best care to make it all happen! I never thought I could trust my eyes/vision to anyone, but I am so glad I faced my fears and trusted Dr. Reed because he gave me the greatest gift I could ask for!!! Thank you Dr. Reed and your entire staff for changing the way I see life!!

Ive been a patient here for two years and both of my experiences were poor. This years was especially bad. Last year the glasses I ordered were the wrong ones and had to be sent back. Not that big of a deal, things happen. This past time, I ordered my frames and it took almost 3 weeks for them to come in despite being told that were 2 day shipped. Then I was notified that they arrived and when I excitedly went to pick them up, I was told that they had to be sent out to have the lenses put in. I still am not quite sure why the lenses were not put in before I was notified they were ready. I had my exam done here as well and they had my rx. So I basically came to look at the glasses because they had the stock frames in. So at least another 2 weeks until my glasses should be ready. But I have no clue what 2 weeks actually means considering 2 days turned into 3 weeks. The staff is not very friendly and if you pass on a certain test or x-ray, their attitude completely changes. Many people have quit in the last few months there from what the woman placing my order told me, and it shows how their business is declining. I have to say the doctor I saw was fine, but the experience as a whole is just complete stress. I have been wearing glasses for 15 years and this is the most ridiculous time consuming experience Ive ever had. I will not be returning next year.

I first went to Griffin & Reed 9 years ago. At the time, I was hoping to conceive my youngest child but my local optometrist assured me that lasik wouldnt interfere in the least with that goal. I got to G & R the day of the surgery, and their very thorough on site optometrist discovered our goal and informed us that 80% of patients who have lasik have their prescriptions fluxuate within the first 6 months after. We of course decided not to do it. I was very impressed that they were so thorough, professional, clear, and honest. I conceived my son the next month-- So a month ago I finally had my surgery. I didnt want to have to pay a little more than other places, but there was no way I wouldve gone anywhere else with my precious eyes. From the research I conducted online & with my present optometrist, the lasik place you choose is very important. G & R seems to be very thorough, also, in constantly improving & refining their practices and methods. I was even at times a bit of a fickle patient, and no one gave me what for about it at all. I really appreciated everyones friendliness and professionalism. This is clearly the premium lasik experience in Sacramento.

Ive wanted Lasik for more than ten years but was uncomfortable with the idea of surgery, in general, and, specifically, on such a precious part of my anatomy - my eyes! As I got sicker and sicker of my astigmatism and my contacts and my glasses I also talked with more and more satisfied & happy post-Lasik individuals. Griffin & Reed has been around a long time and I could find only great reviews. The initial visit was through and professional and the entire staff impressed me with their "bedside manner" and their knowledge and their patience with my detailed questions. I waited about another 2 months after my initial visit to schedule my procedure 2 months after that. Though still a little nervous the day of the procedure, it turned out to be a no-brainer. The post-op follow-ups have continued to be excellent and Im happier every day with both my vision and with the fact that I finally cleared my cabinets of all my contact lens supplies! I would recommend Dr. Reed and his staff to anyone.

Dr. Reed is an answer to a different lifestyle. I have been wearing glasses since the 3rd grade and contacts since I was 16. When I had attempted to be rid of glasses 16 years ago and was told that I did not qualify for the procedure. My husband was going to go through the procedure and I was jealous and wished that I qualified for it. When I was taking my husband in for his procedure I was speaking with Dr. Reed briefly and he said, "Make an appointment" so I did! And O.M.G. I qualified!!!! So then we scheduled all the appointments and said that as of November 30th I could not wear contacts anymore. I was fine with that! So 18 days later on my wedding anniversary my husband took me to the surgery center and I was given the gift of sight! What an awesome gift and opportunity that this has been given to me. There are not words that can describe how I feel about my "new" eyes and how grateful I am for a husband that offered me this gift of sight with the help of Dr. Reed.

I have been wearing corrective eye wear since the second grade. My vision was absolutely horrible and I had an astigmatism along with it. I met with Dr. Kim who explained that my vision was too poor for Lasik but he could help me out with PRK. Dr. Kim did an excellent job explaining the entire process to me and pointed out the positives and potential negatives. I had surgery just over one month ago and my vision is fantastic. I have not had any issues with night driving or sensitivity to the sun. My distance vision is very good and my reading ability is improving daily. PRK is much more intensive than Lasik but it is a only a few days of discomfort and some minor pain. I am very glad I did the procedure and would do it again without a doubt. Dr. Kim has an excellent approach to people and answers questions in a thoughtful and unhurried manner. The staff at Griffin & Reed is fantastic and always treat you warmly and with a smile.
