If you are older and have a cold Im sure he is fine, but for my condition he has been terrible: inconsiderate, w/o compassion, condescending, arrogant and uncaring. It seems he thinks suffering is in your mind and one should overcome it independently. Every time I leave his office I feel angry- waiting on a referral and then I will sever my relationship with him for ever and write a letter explaining why. Terrible, awful and has given me mild mental trauma from his cold, non compassionate care. Also, if you find a lump in your breast and are under 40 and your Mom didnt die from breast caner- dont expect diddly.

Absolutely awful doctor. I moved to California recently and needed a doctor for my ambien prescription which I have had for over 10 years. I have never abused it and generally one bottle would last 6 months. I had the records from my previous doctor to prove that as well as recent blood labs to show that I have no history of drug abuse. He interrupted me when I was trying to explain why I needed it and was extremely rude and just waved me away. He absolutely refused to listen to what I was asking for. On top of that the clinic is in an old house and smells like rotten wood and/or a dead animal inside.

A very caring doctor who enjoys speaking about life in general and what sort of interest I have. At my first visit, I had some abdominal pain and he kind of guessed it was gall bladder issue. After a few tests and ultrasound, he was right. His referred me to a specialist and kept in touch before and after my surgery. I also enjoy the classical music being played in he background. His staff is also very nice to deal with. Also, he is very centrally located in Hillcrest area. Parking is a bit difficult with all the parking meters around the office. So, you have to time your meters correctly.

I have been going to Dr. Bergers office, since I was a young child. He is an excellent Doctor and it is always good to see him when I do go for a check up, or a physical. He will work to the best of his ability to get you well, and might I say, he does a fantastic job at it as well. I will continue to go there because I love the way he treats his patients.

I have had this Dr for many years before losing my insurance and I am trying to get the insurance to return to him. I tried different Drs and had a pill pusher and one who barely had the energy to even talk. He was always kind and took care of me with quick appointments and referrals when needed. Love him and his staff.

If youre fine with homophobia, go to him. Hes an old man thats way out of touch with people and he actually has a temper and can be rather rude. Ive never seen worse bedside manner.

Dr. John Berger is a great Doctor. Very experienced, he cares, and gets straight to the point. Has excellent references to other good doctors and his staff is professional.
