I dont like giving reviews, but this "hospital" has made me so upset tonight that Im writing this in hopes to help others with big dogs. If the hospital owner and staff is reading this, I hope it motivates you to use better ethics in the future... My story: I called looking to get an x-ray for my husky (something is wrong with his knee or hip). The lady on the phone told me all the right words to get me in. She even told me I couldnt come after 4pm if I want to get it done (They close at 7pm). I agreed and left work early just for this x-ray so i know what is truly wrong with my dog. I was greeted by a friendly staff, then by a friendly vet, who looks at his leg the same way I did. She tells me with fancy words that something is wrong with his knee or hip, but wasnt sure... She was leaning towards a torn ACL.. An understandable estimate for what she did, could be true, could be false and just a sprain, which is why an x-ray is needed and the reason for me coming in. She then tries to tell me with a smile that she cant do the x-ray because its to late for her and its a monday (wtf?). She continued to admit she wasnt staffed properly and I had to come in tomorrow morning (or any day from tuesday through friday)... I began to ask why was I told to come in if that was the truth? I learn more hard truths soon after like how they couldnt work on my husky if something was wrong, because the ACL surgery the doctor does is only affective on small dogs. Which made me question more why was I being seen in the first place? It was when she left and I was handed a bill did it click what was going on... A price tag close to $1000 to find out whats wrong with my dog. $650-750 just to do the x-ray the next day with a bunch of extra price driving items on the invoice like tick screen, bordetella oral vaccine, DHPP, and Rabies vaccine? It keeps going with a $100+ price for the anti inflammatory and pain drugs to walk out with for the night, and $54 for the visit to be told what i already knew... In the end, all this money and effort would only lead to me taking the results and my dog to another vet the 3rd day. I walked out not taking any of the drugs or signing up for the x-ray, which drove the price down to $54 for the visit. A visit that required me to skip out of work early to be given some papers she typed up about what i told her was wrong with my dog. Worthless time and money, and I only feel like i was about to be taken advantage. Im filing a dispute with my credit card company after this post because you dont deserve the money for not providing any real care or answers. You simply told me to come in, tell me nonsense, and then have me pay for it. I called another place in mount prospect while driving home and they said they can do the x-ray for $250. Im doing that early in the morning. To end this post, I hope in the future this place starts simply refusing people and dogs that they cant help, and provide care that is focused to the animals problem. That is a lot better and ethical instead of trying to do all the extra stuff to drive up the price tag... which has now lead to you being called out for on google.

My Mother-In-Law had taken her greyhound Davi to Dr. Osborne for years while we had been going to another vet in Buffalo Grove. When it was time for him to move on (Mom had passed) we found Dr. Scott had taken over. We loved him and his staff and quickly moved "our" gang to the Mt. Prospect office and have been there every since. The love, care and devotion that has been spent with our dogs (present and past) over the years has been remarkable. I would not consider going anywhere else. Our GSD Scout, within a matter of days had a larger than grapefruit sized tumor appear on his neck. Dr. Candace whom we also love, did the surgery. It took her 2 1/2 hours to remove it. Afterwards it was advised that we go to the specialty office in Buffalo Grove as clean margins may not have been obtained. It was a very deep and cancerous tumor. The "specialty" Dr. told us we needed to put him through a regiment of chemo which consisted of 5 weeks, every day Monday through Friday for 5 weeks, being put under each time or he only had 6-12 months. At 14 we chose not to put him through that. It wasnt a matter of money, but compassion, none of which we received from the "specialty" vet. I praise Dr. Candace every time I look at my Scout as 2 1/2 years later he is still with us. A little older and a little slower but cancer free. We call him our miracle dog and Dr. Candace our miracle doctor. Now, our beloved Dr. Scott, this man has the patience of a Saint. You are never rushed and it is ever so apparent how much he cares for each and every one of your pets. Even our crazed 4 year old Harper. I have been to other vets that would prescribe drugs not necessarily needed and rush you through the office with very little or no compassion shown. Not so with this man. He too recently saw Scout for his yearly and found his hips to be very sensitive. Hes a German Shepherd and they are also known for bad hips. We tried a prescription, it worked and hes back to actually playing with the 4 year old. I dont know how much longer well have Scout, we adopted him at 7 weeks, but his quality of life has improved greatly. We owe that to these 2 Doctors and the staff at Camp McDonald. Yes this was long winded but needed to be told. I would never want anyone else to see "the gang".

have been with Camp McDonald Animal Hospital for over 20 years and to say I was guarded when Dr. Scott came on due to Dr. Osborn’s retirement is an understatement. I can effortlessly state, without doubt, that Dr. Scott is the family vet for our 4 collies. Dr. Scott is exceptionally thorough, knowledgeable, caring, listens to concerns and gives you the best information so that you can make well informed decisions. I have seen changes take place that are in the best interest of care for all. I do not make these statements about Dr. Scott without substantiation. Our collie Georgie has successfully lost 14 pounds and the improvement to his hips is remarkable – this is attributed to Dr. Scott’s wisdom and guidance. To see our Georgie getting up with ease and without pain is a wonderful site. Dr. Scott has also been instrumental in helping our other collie, Sammy, who had persistent skin infections. It was determined that Sammy had allergies and now our Sammy is a happy, healthy boy again. The office staff is outstanding -- all of them!! I would HIGHLY reccommend this animal Hospital to everyone.

After years of misinformation from my previous veterinarians, my 5 year old baby was diagnosed with a mammary tumor. As you can imagine I was devastated and had to seek out the best treatment I could find. I chose to take her to Dr. Scott Petereit and his team at Camp McDonald Animal Hospital. The office gave me and Emma an at home feeling with its warm and very clean decor. Upon arrival we were greeted by an extremely friendly and knowlegable staff. Dr. Petereits warm demeanor eased my anxiety as he explained exactly what we needed to do to to treat Emma, surgery. Emma had a successful surgery and is doing great! We will be returning to the Camp McDonald Animal Hospital family for a dental cleaning in a couple of weeks. I am so pleased with every aspect of this practice that I highly recommend them! Mammary tumors can be 100% preventable with the proper information and guidance which I did not get from my previous vet. So if you are looking for an honest Vet that will inform and guide you to a healthy pet as well as emergency care, then this is the practice for you.
