Dr. McKee at the Animal Care Clinic is the best vet I have come across yet. When I got my dog he was a rescue with pre-existing health conditions so I have spent my fair share of time at the vet over the last five years. Over the summer my dog began to show symptoms of illness, not eating and lethargic. After some initial visits with no serious tests or diagnoses, I brought him back in and met Dr. McKee. Even though his symptoms were vague she took the time to really look through his past medical records and became concerned before I even really was. My dogs health continued to deteriorate and when it became clear that he needed to see a specialist, Dr. McKee worked with me to find one locally so that I could still visit him. While my dog did not make it through the ordeal I cannot thank Dr. McKee enough for all of the time and effort she put into keeping an eye on both of us. While my dog was being treated at another hospital, she continued to monitor the case and was always willing to field my frantic questions. When it became clear that my dog was not going to make it through this time, Dr. McKee was first person I called and she and her staff provided a more supporting environment than I expected. Having to make that decision was the hardest thing I have ever done and it would have been that much harder without Dr. McKees support. It is not hard to find competent vets in the Bay Area. But finding one who can be both professional and still genuinely care for their patients as individuals, not clients, is a lot harder. I will be bringing my other dog to her as long as she is in the Bay Area and I would highly recommend her to any pet owner.

On 9/8/08, I picked up my pug mix, Shiloh after a 8-day stay at their boarding. All his shots are updated and he lived a healthy and happy life at home. On the pick up day, I noticed he was coughing in the clinic and I requested one of the vets to examine him before leaving. She assured me that he was fine and was coughing from barking too much in past week. I was told to use Robitussin DM over-the-counter to soothe his symptoms. After 36 hours at home with Shiloh continuous coughing and unable to sleep, I brought him to another vet (at a different clinic) who then diagnosed him with a treatable infection and gave him antibiotic and cough suppressant. However on 9/11, Shiloh passed away. As of this date, I still do not know why Shiloh died but I was devastated. I have decided not to use boarding anymore, particular this boarding. I believe the vet made a clinical mistake to dismiss Shiloh from her care. I am writing this experience to alert all of you to think twice before boarding your pet there.

I love this clinic and care hospital. My dogs have done very well through illness, and in boarding, even when they have had health issues. Thank goodness I was able to leave my little Pom boy at Animal Care Clinic, so that his complicated feeding and medication schedule could be maintained while I attended a family function back East! They even kept a log on Jacks daily reactions, his likes, his dislikes, and how he did with his medicines. While all of the staff is caring and helpful, I must thank Dr. Michael Evans specially. He is compassionate and knowledgeable. And they are so reasonable for their services. He often donates services to rescue animals. I cant say enough good things about Animal Care Clinic, and I do not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who is an animal lover. A+!

My small dog had a broken ankle so I took him to emergency vet who put a splint on it, which fell off that night. They gave him some meds, charged me $670, and referred me to a surgeon. The surgeon wouldnt even talk to me without a $150 consultation. And besides I didnt want a surgeon cutting up my dog screwing in all sorts of s***. They even mention amputation clear out of the blue which totally freaked me out. I called a dog rescue friend who highly recommended Dr Evans and his amazing staff. Dr Evans not only set his ankle and put a cast on it he charged me less than the other vet. Its been about 12 weeks now and my dog is 98%!!! Animal care will be my veterinarian in the future.

My Norfolk Terrier recently got hit by a car, I took him to see Dr. Harding and after two visits she said he would need extensive surgery that would cost several thousand dollars. I dont have thousands of dollars so asked if there was any other way. She then told me that with out surgery his chance of survival would be really low and it would be better to put him to sleep. I almost put him to sleep if my mother hadnt told me to have faith. Two weeks later and under close care of my family and I my dog has made an 90% recovery we are just waiting for his wounds to fully heal. Im glad I listened to my mother and didnt take the vets advice or I would of lost a very close friend.

My dogs are my life, they are my family. I would only allow my dogs to be treated by people i trust. I called the Animal Care Clinic to get my dog spayed. they quoted me a low end and high end (that included everything), when i got to the clinic i was given an estimate with a low end very near the quoted high end, and a high end of another $250. I questioned the management about this and was given a very unsatisfactory answer. Additionally when i arrived they had no idea who i was and it took them 10 minutes to find me in the system. I dont trust them so i will seek another place to take my family for care.

My 11 month old Yorkshire Terrier has boarded here at least 5 times and they still continue to call him the wrong name and refer to him as a female dog. This last time I picked him up he was traumatized and had feces matted to the side of his body. When I got him home he was very lethargic and that evening started vomiting blood. After two visits to emergency and $1300 later he has been hospitalized due to a stomach virus and dehydration. The vet said my dog could have died! Please take your pets elsewhere!

Ive been going here with my fur babies for well over 20 years starting when the office was in the old El Portal Shopping Center. The staff has changed over the years but great customer service has remained constant. Currently Dr. Anderson is my elder cats doctor. Dr. Anderson specializes in elder animals & I am confident in her ability to treat & teach me to home treat my old kitty. Id recommend this office to anyone who was searching for a vetranerian office.
