Was the best place for pets until Dr. Santero retired. He was amazing. Now that Dr.Santero is retired Dr. Pfhan and the other newbies just care about money. After 28 years you would think it would have been hard to leave, but after miss diagnosis, bad medicine and no return phone calls when one of our pets was sick. We didnt look back. Office visits are outrageous. Dr.Santero gave discounts if we brought 2-3 pets at once. The new Drs frown upon bringing more than one at a time and I firmly believe because they want to charge the $65.00 office visit for each pet. After we basically begged to bring them in together we still got charged the $65.00 x three dogs plus shots and meds. It was over $500.00 for that visit.The next day our dog was in the e.r. vet because the Dr. Had squeezed a "cyct" so much that it burst and got infected on the inside costing us over $2000.00 and they never called or checked in when they got the report from the emergency care or after I called. Very uncaring unemotional and all about the money! So sad!

Brought our dog in because of swollen and bloodshot eyes. Without even actually examining his eyes, the vet diagnosed it as either allergies or kennel cough. Within a couple days our dog could barely see anything. Took him to another clinic for a second opinion and he was diagnosed with Rocky Mountain spotted fever, which can be deadly if not treated quickly. Shame on me for excepting the bogus diagnosis when I knew it was odd to be able to diagnose the cause of his eye problems without actually examining his eyes. But that is what I trust veterinarians for. To be able to identify and provide assistance to my pets since obviously I am not a veterinarian. I will not be trusting my pets health to Brandner any longer.

Since Dr. Santero retired, it all seems to be about the business end of things. I told the female vet. what Dr. Santero had prescribed for for my dogs chronic ear problem. She refused to prescribe that same medicine, but was happy to charge $125 (+ the office visit) to examine his ear under anesthesia. Then she prescribed another medicine (not the one that had worked in the past. It didnt work. She stiffened up when I brought him back and told her what she did was ineffective. She wanted to put him out again! I said no so I had to sign a release, etc. Not going here again.

Its more of a business then an Veterinary Hospital. Every time I brought my dogs in even for minor things my bill exceeded $150 for ea dog. They wanted full visit price for each dog, even for re-visits. Then when I couldnt afford all theyre fees the vet made smug remarks about the responsibilities of being a pet owner. I took my dogs there for over a year & every visit was worse then the last & spent way more money then I had. I would think if your a good vet & you truly care about Animals, that you would try to work with the owners on fees & costs. I

Pathetic excuse for a vet. He was using experimental drugs on my dog and she had a bad reaction to it. Then his advice to me was buy aspirin and antihistamines to treat it. He screws up and I have to fix his mistake? He was unapologetic, argumentative, and talked over me before I could finish a sentence. This was over the telephone...a face to face encounter would have gotten physical. He only treats pets as sources of revenue.

We have been going to Brandner since we moved to Petaluma in 2001. Drs Pfann and Santero have taken such great care of our pets over the years. Dr Pfann even returned our call on Christmas Day when our cat was ill. Once we took our kitty to an emergency hospital and it was so stark and cold we couldnt wait to get out of there and go to Brandner. The staff is helpful and caring. They will be our vet clinic forever.

Honesty and integrity from the doctors. Staff is compassionate and flexible. When I need an appointment on short notice, I can get one because the staff gets it that my pet needs the appointment. Plus the doctors have superb clinical judgement.
