My husband has been a patient at Stanford for the last 11 years. I have found the staff and doctors to be the most knowledgeable, and caring professionals. The nurses are super stars. Most recently my husband has been hospitalized since 12/12/16 and he is still a patient as of 1/18/17. He was set to be sent to a Subacute Nursing Rehabilation Facility when an organ became available for transplant on 1/11/17. He has exceeded the surgical teams expectations. He was transfered from the ICU to a step-down unit. He is thriving an within days he will be transfered to a rehab facility due to his de-conditioned state. The nursing staff continually change his position in bed to avoid bedsores. The nurses are so caring. Without the world class treatment my husband has received I am sure I might of lost my husband. I will be forever indebted to Stanfords surgeons, CNAs, and the nurses. I highly recommend Stanford.

My daughter was admitted to this hospital 3x since last year. Nurses at Standford hospital were excellent but doctors (GI) were uncompassionate, unfriendly, arrogant, judegemental and and rude. They totally ignored my daughters pain and complaints of GI problems. Because of history of eating disorder, they judged her condition as "controlling anorexic" and blamed her for illness especially by one of nurse practioners. Doctors at John Muir hospital in Conconrd did not judged her with this history but cared for her current illness. It is very disasapointg to be referred to hospital like Stanford which is known for its modern technology of medical care. If they cannot find whats wrong with my daughter , they should admit that they cannot find her treatment and refer her to Mayo Clinic like John Muir doctors did. Its a shame, shame.

Excellent health care in all aspects, outstanding and most progressive physicians, skillful and caring nurses and staff. I had a successful Cyber knife surgery by Dr. Adler, the world famous Neurosurgeon. For my recurrent facial paralysis/bells palsy Dr . Jacklar, Dr. Lopez, Dr. Most, Dr. Lee have all provided treatments, surgery and care on a continuous basis. I no longer have to live with a crooked face for years at a time. I could not speak or eat among other disabilities. As an university professor I had to stay unemployed suddenly when I had these episodes. Dr. Zei, Dr. Marilyn Tan, Dr. Kahn, Dr. Garcia Rodriguez continue to provide excellent care. My regret not getting my pacemaker installed here. I had a hole in my heart in m my heart and 2 surgery in 3 days at OHSUand

Dont let them fool you: they are a research hospital and patients come third. First: the MDs--who are "inventing the future," an actual quote, and thus too busy to see a patient in less than 8 weeks who is facing open heart surgery or death (my situation). Second: the "nurse ratchets" and other apparatchiks with whom mere mortals actually communicate. And third: you... or your mother with Alzheimers... or your daughter with a fever and diarrhea--that might be potentially fatal C-Diff. If you beg and scrape, they will lecture about how they are doing you a favor, how wonderful and important they are, and how they personally will go beyond the regular procedures procedures to try to help, but they "want you to remember it."

my daughter was recently a patient at Stanford Medical Center for an extended amount of time..I believe these drs..some obviously better then others..they tirelessly searched for an answer and how to help her..In there words she is a zebra in a herd of horses..even at Stanford they had a terrible time trying to diagnose and cure my daughter..she is I believe on the road to recovery due to the efforts of many..especially want to say Dr Lance (Norman) Downey went outside of the box to find different answers to help her..Not to downplay anyone else at all..they were all amazing. Thanks to you all from the bottom of our hearts..

Visited here for an extremely mundane strep throat test. Doctor suggested that I also have a mono test performed, and I agreed. A few weeks later, I was billed nearly THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS. For a strep test!!! After arguing with the billing center ("these are accurate charges that are agreed upon with insurers" etc), basically I have no recourse but to pay an obscene amount for what should have been an at most $300 or $400 test. Do NOT go to Stanford health center. Stay away!!

Absolutely deplorable conditions for the patients making them wear their same clothes for 4 days at a time and then coming up with the excuse that housekeeping doesnt work that day or not providing their clothes for laundry then making patients wear somebody elses unknown clothing deplorable conditions at this facility do not recommend it to anybody

Theres been a report on this hospital by Vox and this hospital only cares about the money... They even sent a letter to a mother saying "We are sorry you werent satisfied with your experience" DUDE HER CHILD DIED... Her child died due to a perventable disease while other hospitals take it more seriously and actually have a totally safe solution.

The ekg techs do not regularly clean the 12 lead wires from the ekg machine after every patient use. I know because I was trained that way when I worked there. Huge OSHA violation and Health Hazard.

Their transplant center harvested our daughters kidney despite our begging and pleading for them not to do so. They robbed her of health, and family; they robbed us of our daughter.

On YouTube look up "Do no harm: some hospitals let a preventable infection kill their patients" from Vox. Directly talks about this hospital and their hygiene.
