I received a written referral from my doctor (PCP via my rheumatologist’s request) to go to a pain clinic for chronic rib cage pain due to ankylosing spondylitis disease that I have in my neck and spine. My doctor had no problem giving me a written referral. Due to my tight work schedule, I told my doctor I would find a clinic close to my work which is not in her area. Because of the stereo type people give anyone that complains of chronic pain, that they are just seeking drugs and should just tough it up and deal with it, it took me a couple of weeks to get up enough courage to call a pain clinic to set up an appointment. I finally called the SWMC Interventional Pain Clinic and told the person that answered the phone that I have a written referral from my PCP and need to set up an appointment. She snottily talked down to me and told me I could not setup an appointment without a written referral from my doctor and they would not accept one that my doctor gave to me. She acted like I forged the document just to get an appointment. It was humiliating. What is the difference if I fax the document to them or the doctor does? … I would expect they would contact the doctor for chart notes anyway! Why would someone forge a referral? Anyway, I wonder if the receptionist was just having a bad day or if she is representing how the clinic will treat me when I come there for treatment and they will act like I am making the pain up too and will humiliate me during the visit. Gee, a person that is dealing with chronic pain is not typically a happy-go-lucky person that has an abundance of energy to push through the red tape they are making. I would expect they would understand this and be a little more compassionate.

Dr. Yi is an excellent doctor and I cant thank her, her nursing and support staff enough for helping me to begin getting my quality of life back. Dr. Yi is among the very best Drs out there and shows a tremendous amount of compassion, caring and clinical excellence toward her patients as well as family members. I went in for my first ESI procedures with Dr. Yi this past week and the care and kindness, and attentiveness I received is bar none the best I have ever had. I was very anxious about this procedure and Dr. Yi and her nursing staff made sure I was comfortable throughout the entire experience. Again, I think she provides the VERY BEST pain management care available. I would and have recommended Dr. Yi to friends and family already and would not hesitate in the least to recommend her without hesitation! In conclusion, Dr. Yi, her nursing and support staff are truly compassionate and skilled professionals and if you are in need of pain management she and her staff are truly excellent. Valerie in scheduling is such a pleasure to work with as is Julie, Dr. Yis assistant. The nursing staff in the Ambulatory Surgical Center is the best group of nurses I have ever seen! Thank you Dr. Yi and the entire clinic for your help on this journey to a better quality of life with less pain, a higher self esteem and I look forward to working with you for years to come!

I was referred to this pain clinic a few years ago by my PCP. I was wary at first, but the providers and staff here are extremely friendly, and over the years weve come up with a plan of combination treatments that works wonders for me. I recently moved to Oregon and am having a hard time finding any provider at all that will see me due to my chronic pain issues. Im also facing the anxiety of when I do find a provider that will see me, do I want to let them do my spinal injections which I have been receiving for these past years. Thats a scary thought to allow somebody to stick 8 inch long needles into your spinal column 4 times a year, but I trust Dr. Platt for that inexplicably. I miss the Pain Clinic and all the support and treatment Ive received there.

My doctor referred me here for chronic pain. I waited three weeks to even get an appointment and then was told it would take longer for them to find out if they could schedule me. They would not take my insurance information, therefore, told me they didnt know if I would be accepted...what the hell...how can you find out if you wont take the information. I was spoken to rudely, condescending, I had been to physical therapy and in excruciating pain in tears. I plan to file a complaint with the insurance and medical board, BBB and if possible Small Claims

I cant say enough GOOD, about Dr Platt and his staff!!! They go above and beyond what you would expect from a physician of ANY kind! My ONLY complaint, is (was) regarding one of the nursing staff, named Drew, however, I do not feel the need to say anything beyond that, as my problem has been quickly and efficiently resolved. THANK YOU to Dr Platt and his staff, for turning a painful experience into an delightful one!

I ruptured my first disc at a very young age & have been treated by several pain mgmnt docs over 26 years; I feel safe & confident my chronic pain will be well managed & I know that these medical experts sincerely know their stuff. Attentive to pain issues and they try to help to the best of their abilities, only one issue in the years I have been there, and I think she must have been a Srgt. in the military. She only had to poke me one time with the needle to get it done right.
