Where to begin.. I took the risk of looking for an optometrists based solely on Googling “Optometrist in Torrance.” I was going to go with Maison (first result) but they were closed the day I was free for an appointment. So I went with Advanced Family Eye Care. First thing that impressed me was the availability of forms required were online for printing. You can print and prefill them (for new patients like myself) and bring it with you before the day of. It made it very convenient. When I got to the office, the staff was surprisingly young and very friendly. They (particularly Moses) assist you with their undivided attention. They constantly ask patients if there’s anything they can get us: brewed coffee (did I hear cappuccino or latte right?), water, etc. Thirdly, the wait time didnt take eternity. As a new patient, I was seen in less than 10 minutes. That’s fast considering I’m used to waiting close to ½ hr when visiting doctors and dentists. And the most important review of all… Dr. Russell Hosaka. From his photo you’d think he’s a serious, get down to business type of doctor. My first impression in meeting him was quite the opposite. He’s quiet but when we started a short discussion about practical shooting, I was surprised he had a story to share. His meekness made the room feel very comfortable for me. He gave me a very honest professional opinion (unlike my past optometrist who tried to sell everything) which I genuinely appreciated. It’s my first visit and if services remain unchanged, I may have found my family optometrist!

Ive been coming here since 2006. I always love coming here. The service is great and the machines are always the best available. Dr. Hosaka knows his stuff and keeps up to date with the newest technology and info. The staff is also fantastic. They always are willing to help me out and even order me frames from the catalogs so that I can try them out. They run lots of specials and also have giveaways throughout the year. They strive to make it a fun experience and listen to what their customers have to say. Their eye exam is also pretty painless. Gone are the days of the air puff into your eyes and the blue numbing eye drops. I never minded either too much but now I dont even have to deal with them. I would recommend this shop for Rx frames, sunglasses, and contacts. They have a pretty big selection for being a smaller place. I recommend Eddie and Moses for helping you pick out frames.

Doctor did not understand my vision plan, told me I had to pay completely out of pocket for hard lens exam and for my contacts. Doctor made it seem that it was a complicated procedure and wanted $750 for the hard lens exam (including contacts). I went to see another doctor for obvious reasons and got it done for under $200. Was told by my new doctor that my vision plan does cover and that the procedure was not complicated at all. I now see sharper than ever with my new contact from the second doctor. I truly believe the Doctor was attempting to take financial advantage of his patient. When I was speaking with the doctor I also strongly believe that he wasnt being very clear on purpose so I can give in and pay his ridiculous amount of money; his only comment to anything was that it was very complicated.

Dr. Hosaka is by far the best optometrist ive seen, hes even glaucoma certified ! As soon as i walked in i was greeted by the sexy front desk girl, her name was rosie her outfit was on point ! Moises was my tech for the day his customer service was excellent, and he explained what was going on with my eyes very thoroughly. I left he office with some fantastic Tom Fords glasses and sunglasses Haha and a year supply of contacts,i will be bringing in my whole family thanks for everything guys. oh and to all the single guys out there i would recommend to make an appointment for Saturday morning trust!

Dr. Hosaka truly cares about the well-being of his patients, and this shows in his care. He takes the time to ask lots of questions, and he seeks out advice from others in his field to make sure he is offering his patients the best information available. He is precise and always professional. Dr. Hosakas staff is amazing as well. They are incredibly friendly, and do everything they can to make sure you are comfortable. They understand that, while this is a professional office, customer service is equally important, and they deliver every time. Thanks for a wonderful experience and excellent care.

Came in as a walk-in Rx. Was greeted warmly by the staff and immediately helped out. Moses was very knowledgable and passionate about the glasses that he sells . He gave me all the best insight as to what he thought were the best fitting brands and styles for me. I ended up going with SALT optics because of their small independent business model and dedication to the consumer. Moses not only knew the technology behind the making of these glasses. He also knew that certain parts had to be hand made in Japan for superb craftsmanship. Couldnt have asked for a friendlier experience. Thanks yooo!

I was running out of contact lenses but my prescription had expired years ago. Called in this morning for an eye exam and they were able to fit me in same day, which was extremely convenient. Dr. Hosaka thoroughly explained the different changes in my vision which other optometrists had never done for me before in the past. Joanna assisted Dr. Hosaka with a few of the tests and was also super helpful in explaining my insurance benefits so I could make the most out of them. I would have been totally lost without her. Definitely recommend them if youre in the South Bay Area.

Great customer service. Everyone was super friendly and willing to help. I actually had bought a pair of weak metal rimless frames (which I discovered they later discontinued) and they were kind enough to provide me a new set of frames, while we just paid the difference. I was very impressed with the professional and friendly environment they set up for all the customers. I will say that the wait times can be long, however, and that the glasses with the new prescription I received had an initial adjustment period that was much longer than those that I experienced before.

Probably the best eye care facility Ive ever been to. Not only are the they attentive and professional, but its also apparent that they really care about their patients. Every concern Ive ever voiced has always been tended to (and almost always completely remedied). And I have to give a special shout-out to Moses and Eddie, who have always given me exceptionally amazing service- making me laugh, giving me the best deal they could, and great eye care tips every visit. With such a laid-back and positive atmosphere along with the best care, what else could you ask for?

Excellent customer service, was greeted at door and offered coffee or tea when walked in by receptionist. Service was great by the doctor who took the time to explain what was wrong with my eyes and how it could be corrected. Tiana (hope I spelled it right) was especially great with her customer service, filling me in on how my insurance worked and what was the best eye lenses at a affordable price. Shes very knowledgeable on frames and will have you walking out with stylish frames that actually fit your face and bridge of nose.
