Our family was exited to learn that our dad had a small possibility of life after he had slim to none when he arrived at Huntington Memorial Hospital He had a collapsed long and got long infection. But, if that was not enough he also has stage 4 cancer. After three week in the hospital they transfered my dad to Kindred Hospital in West Covina. The first week our dad was well taken care of, the nurses were very attentive and friendly, room was clean, and we got updates of our dads health. The second week we were there we noticed that our dad got a very bad rash from being left deficated for hours and hours to the point where he had blood on his private parts so we decided to report it to administration. After a few attempts of trying to get our dads sold pads change we asked one of the nurses to please be more aware of our dads needs and her response was that the RNS get paid more money then the other nurses do and that RNs should change pads more often then they did, she also said ,"I hate my job". Very unprofessional answer. On fathers day we came to visit our dad and we found a used needle with blood that had been changed earlier that day on the food table, blood on my dads hand, a bloody towel in between his legs, and scratches on his legs. There are pictures and witnesses to confirm this is true. This is a case of negligence and careless people. That is unacceptable, after a few phone calls and a messages without a response I was forced to write this review. Hoping that this issues will be resolved and for patients and their family members to be aware of the situation.

The therapists (physical, occupational, speech, and respiratory) are kind, caring and very professional. However, unfortunately for anyone who ends up here - the facility is run down, lacks security, has a terrible cafeteria, and has spots in the building that are dirty. Additionally the nursing care here is a complete disgrace. The CNAs, LVNs, and RNs are assigned many more cases than they can handle in one shift. The culture among the nursing staff is one that lacks compassion, attention to detail, and any level of integrity. The doctors who were assigned to our case during my moms stay were even worse. Not only were they were inept as they were convinced she was going to pass away and she is now doing great in rehab, but they were incredibly cruel when delivering the news. I went against medical advice while I was there and was treated very poorly beginning to end. Before sending your loved one to any hospital please please please visit it in person and read the reviews, the ones on Yelp for this facility warned us that this place was sketch but it was a stressful time and we didnt go in person for a visit before going here. Huge mistake. You dont move into a house without looking at it, you dont go choose a hospital without a visit either! Avoid this and all Kindred Hospitals. I would suggest Barlow Respiratory Hospital in San Fernando Valley. We didnt end up going there but the facility and the staff were MUCH nicer (private rooms instead of 3 to a room like this dump). I pray for all the patients stuck in this place and Im thrilled my loved one is out.

This place has a lot of friendly staff. Even if the place gets cold at night, the staff here are all warm and caring. I guess its true that it doesnt matter what the place looks like on the outside, but its whats in the inside that counts. To be honest, we didnt have much of a choice on were we needed to go after my hospital stay, so Im glad we were able to find this place in west covina. At first, you wonder how the staff will treat you, but my fears went away on the first day when we got to meet some of the people here. Each and every nurse, therapist, doctor, aide, all the way to the housekeepers treated us with respect and dignity.I say this because in my experience, this seems to be the biggest fear most new patients face when being admitted to a unfamiliar place for the first time. The staff went above and beyond to give us access a semi private room and made sure all our needs were met. This is a truly great place and desrves more recognition from the community. If I could give it more stars, I would.

If I could give them a NEGATIVE, "I WOULD!!" If youre concerned about your loved one being tended to properly & professionally, "DONT" take them there! Its a DISGRACE of a place! They are un-professional & RUDE!!! Why do these people hire staff that lacks in patient care skills! It saddens me to see so many elderly that may not have family to be their advocates! Or not around to see what really goes on! On my 1st visit the nurse was called at 6:50pm for a patient to use the restroom (as she was prohibited to walk due to falls) they got there at 7:48pm! My mothers doctor forgot to order pain meds and they had to call another doctor to authorize! She was in excruciating pain for hours! Food, they give you what they want, not what you order, or theyre illiterate! I can go on & on... however, I sincerely hope you have understood how HORRIFIC this place is. Its specifically suppose to deal with patient care & they have NO KNOWLEDGE of that meaning! Look into another facility if you really care for your loved one....

We had the worst experience of our life! My husband was left on the bed pan for over 45 minutes he had to call me and I am five hours away to call them to take him off. He was unable to walk. He had to use the bed pan and asked for it and they wouldnt come. We actually checked him out before he was really ready only because we feared for him staying. They knew he was leaving three days before and still they failed to send him home with his medication over 4th of July weekend. My husband will have to do without his medication that they put him on until I can get him to his doctor after the 4th of July which will be 3 days. They have absolutely no care for human life. You are just a bed bringing in money.. If you love youre family member dont send them to this dog kennel. If I could have rated them at a minus 10 I would have!

This location is smaller and more convenient than the other long term hospitals we looked at. We brought our grandfather here after a long stay at the hospital. The staff here is always friendly and when they see us, they always make sure to go out of their way to come say hello. I really love the entire atmosphere here. Its small but has a good vibe with everyone always smiling. The parking is my only drawback here. My recommendation is to go between 8 am and 11am or else youd end up parking down the street. But the times we did visit, it wasnt to much of a problem, but my mom will say otherwise since she was there all the time. Aside from that, I do like this place. Its one of the nicer hospitals in the area.
