Last March my husband took me to Placentia Linda Hospital for an emergency appendectomy. Dr. Cole was the surgeon on call that night. I arrived at 11:30 at night and there were only 2 other patients in the ER. I was diagnosed at 2am with acute appendicitis. The surgeon was called and he said he was on his way at 230am. I was given many drugs to keep me sedated until the doctor got to the hospital. Hours started going by and he never showed up. I and my husband asked the hospital to call the Dr. again. The nurse -Elizabeth- called Dr. Cole again he again said he was on his way. I was in horrific pain and begged the hospital to call another surgeon. They said they couldnt that Dr. Cole was the one on call. I was given more and more drugs to sedate the pain and the clock was just going by. 4am, 5am still nothing I felt as if I was being stabbed on a constant. They called him again at 6 he again said he was on his way. Still nothing 7am begging the hospital to help me and to call somebody else a nurse in the hospital explained to me that Dr. Cole likes his sleep. My husband was talking to everybody, they did nothing. 8am Dr. Cole was called again, he again said he was on his way. I cannot explain the pain the suffering the anguish. NOBODY deserves to suffer this way. 930 am Dr. Cole finally shows up I had surgery. Tired worn out and feeling no right I was released the next day. I had constant pain and fever for days. My husband made many calls to Dr. Cole explaining that something is wrong. Dr. Cole refused to see me and said it was gas. Dr. Cole instructed me to take an anti gas agent and I would feel better. I tried it I was getting worse, sicker and dizzy. We called Dr. Cole again and he literally argued with my husband saying I was overreacting. I had a fever and by the 5th day got Dr. Cole to agree to see me. I waited another two days for my appointment. Upon going to Dr. Coles office 7 days later after surgery, I was severely ill and could hardly walk. I went into the office and Dr. Cole reviewed my records from my surgery 7 days prior. He then said Well....Your appendix was compromised,(burst) and I think you have an infection. He never bothered until now to read the pathology report. I was immediately admitted into the hospital for an emergency surgery to clean out the infection and stayed 9 days. Still very ill the problem wasnt resolved. The damage done to my internal organs from the infection caused my gallbladder to have issues. 10 days later Im rushed back to the hospital, I was going septic and had another emergency surgery to remove my damaged gallbladder. Again I stayed in the hospital for 9 more days. 3 abdominal surgeries in 5 weeks. My poor body had really suffered. Dr. Cole said after all of this.. "your entire right side is covered in adhesions" You are at a really high risk for these adhesions to move and cause blockage with your intestinal tract. They move and wrap around organs, intestines. To this date a year later, I have constant pain, constant digestive issues. The explanation that I was given by Dr. Cole was because my appendix ruptured and the multiple surgeries to correct the damage. I WOULD HATE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN TO ANYBODY ELSE, ALL BECAUSE THIS SURGEON WOULDNT GET OUT OF BED. NOBODY SHOULD HAVE TO WAIT OVER 9 HOURS FOR AN EMERGENCY SURGERY!

UPDATED: After getting a post on this message board from an employee of Placentia-Linda Hospital I reached back out to them to see if they would reduce some of these outrageous charges. It turns out that that the post on this site was just a public relations post from them, and they never had any intentions of providing me with a fair deal. In the end, people trust hospitals and the medical system and thus they would never think twice about a hospital ripping them off and taking advantage of them, especially at their most vulnerable moment. The "manager" that I spoke with ultimately said after investigation on my file the charges were fine, and that they can charge what they want as there are no laws or regulatory boards for the charges and costs they bill. They are SCUM bags at the highest level, taking advantage of vulnerable people that trust the system. In other industries this type of abuse or usury is punishable and illegal, but since they are in the medical industry they get to do what they want. The sad reality is most people wont read this post until after they get burned because as I mentioned people have an inherit trust for medical institutions. Original Post: I was charged $12,927 for a nurse to give me an IV and to run a cat SCAN. I had a sinus infection and they wanted to look further into it, so they ran a CAT Scan. I also got a separate bill from the Dr. that wasnt included in these figures. Upon disputing the bill I was informed they can charge what they want for the services they provide. When I researched the costs of the tests they ran the standard hospital costs were $250-$300 for blood tests and liver tests and they are charging $1,600 for the 2. For CAT Scans average costs are $1,200 and they charged $3,500, which they double billed to make it $6,500. Their attitude toward the billing and disputing is what is most disturbing. Essentially I was told "it is what it is" and we can charge what we want and you can not dispute whether or not you agree with the costs. The care was average, and the costs were extremely unfair and unethical.

Not happy at all, I should read the all the feed back before sign the paper. I was questioning the front desk and they said will get back to me but they never get back to me. They just busy doing other papers. No customer service/ coutersy. Ill stay away from this hospital network ever. Bad experience in ER room, they recommend to go choc hospital. They told us its because theres no pediatrician in the house ! How come ??? It was on dec 31 2016. Maybe they dont have main doctor in the house that day. My son its 15 years old, regular good doctor should be good enough to handle him not pediatrician. And They should know what happened After they doing a lot of test, scannings in there. After went to choc hospital and stayed 1 night in there They found nothing on my son. Ending up with higher 2 hospital bill to deal with. Try to ask for discount up to 6 months but no considaration, their charity program its almost impossible, its all because only 1 time incidents. So, it will not be qualify on the out of pocket expenses. On the other hand, the other hospital was really helpful, on their charity program.. much easier to qualify after back and forth sending proof of income paper,etc... resulting, they cut Half of the hospital bill. If I knew what will happen, I should just go straight to the other hospital straight instead just bouncing around and ending up paying 1 bill instead only 1. Not very happy and very sad patient ( parent )
