1. My wife setup an appointment based on the many good reviews she found of Dr. Seibel (a fellow Texas Aggie) on the internet. We were surprised that there was a replacement vet there when we showed up only a few hours later for our appointment ("emergency continuing education summit" or some such thing). We were looking for a skilled 2nd opinion based on multiple previous vet vists, and it was very disappointing to essentially end up drawing a random vet out of a hat. #2 is based on that stand-in vet 2. We got a puppy from a pretty bad New Mexico dog pound via a rescue group based in Evergreen, CO. The two dozen puppies they rescued were not long for this world and thus their conditions were pretty bad. Ever since we got our puppy, his scratching and biting had been increasing steadily. Two vets had already strongly suggested general allergies, but based on our own Googling, terrible living conditions, and extensive elimination of allergen variables it seemed much more likely that this was some sort of mite (probably sarcoptic). We suggested this to the replacement vet, but I was under the impression that she felt I was off my rocker for thinking that. She just gave us some antibiotics and sent us on our way. Basically, she missed / ignored a legitimate (albeit inconclusive) concern and that led to further puppy yelping and self-mutilation. As his itching, bleeding, and general misery increased over the next couple of days, we went back to our first vet and insisted for a FDA approved treatment for the scabies (topical Revolution at 2 week intervals). Sure enough, within several days he generally started improving and within ~4 weeks he seems mostly cured. After about 1.5 weeks we went back to our original vet for the final round of puppy vaccinations and there were additional signs of ear crust that the led to a clear diagnoses of "mites". Bottom line: we went in with an incredibly specific concern (after *extensive* laymen research) and left largely ignored, with a dog getting sicker, and $200 lighter in the wallet. According to web-searches, it is fairly common for sarcoptic mites to be misdiagnosed as environmental and food allergies, but that is why it seems to be just as common for vets to prescribe Revolution or another low-side-effect mite control even without conclusive clinical test results.

I tend to try and not write bad reviews, but my last visit left me with such a bad taste in my mouth, I not only decided to switch vets, but also write about what happened. Without going into too specific details, I had to bring my dog into the vet because she was having respiratory issues. The doc diagnosed her with pneumonia and gave us the meds to take care of her. The meds were quite expensive, and I really didnt think twice about it at the time. After the first round of meds were used up, she had to go through another round. This time, I decided to do a little research and found a legitimate and authorized pet meds distributor off the internet that would sell the EXACT SAME meds for nearly half the price. The normal procedure for this is the internet company contacts the vets office and the vets office faxes the prescription to them. However, this vet offices REFUSES to work with any internet med company. Period. Meaning if I wanted to save over $50, I had to snail-mail the prescription to them....which means my dog had to wait almost 2 weeks to get the meds. The doc was also very confrontational regarding us even considering using an internet site for meds and made both myself and my roommate feel very pressured into buying the meds from them only. I understand they have overhead and it costs a lot to run a business, but if you do choose to use this vet, be VERY careful about what meds they prescribe for you pet. Do some research ahead of time if you can and dont feel pressured into accepting the meds then and there. This is NOT common practice. I called up 3 other highly rated vets in the same general area, and none of them have that same policy - in fact, most of them said they would do their best to match any internet prices we bring to their attention, but if it came down to it, they would be more than willing to fax the paperwork to the pet meds company. For those reasons, I have decided to change to a different vet.

This place. Goodness. I brought my dog in to this vet office about a month ago, and the entire visit was SO incredibly smooth and painless. My dogs name is Shadow, and he is a 3 year old pittie. He isnt too incredibly used to going to the vet, so he is always a little timid. First of all, one of the most welcoming things was EVERY time a nurse walked by she couldnt resist coming in and smothering him. As a pitbull, of course being smothered is one of his all-time favorite things. He made roughly nineteen billion nurse friends on his visit, and his tail was wagging the entire time. Secondly; Shadow is a rescue, and he has ALWAYS been very scared of guys. He has made A LOT of progress in the two-ish years Ive had him, but he is still very wary of strange men. When Dr. Siebel came in the room he did SO well with Shadow. Bottom line, you can definitely tell every single person in this office is an animal person, and how patiently they listened to me gush about basically the light of my life was impressive as well :) Anyway, Shadow went in initially because of his awful, awful skin allergies. I had him on a very specific diet that kept the flare ups away for the most part, and usually when he DID get into something and had a flare-up, I could get it under control very quickly. This one I could not, which is why we were there. The Dr. was very understanding of my finances; Im 23, living on my own and working two jobs, but Colorados ridiculous renters market is significantly worse now than it was when I originally adopted him. He was so patient, and we were able to find a route that was both the most beneficial to pupper AND the most comfortable for my finances. Score. You know what this means? MORE TOYS FOR PUPPY! So, the moral of the story: Go here. You and your pet will love it.

Dr. Seibel and staff could not have been more compassionate in euthanizing our elderly dog with a huge malignant tumor. At check-in, they suggested we pay first rather than wait until afterwards, which was thoughtful. The cost was reasonable, and they offered us a clay cast of one of Tillys paws at no extra charge. They brought us to a non-clinical comfort room with a large comfortable sofa. In another room, they put the catheter in her arm, then brought her in to us and gave us as much time as we needed with her before Dr. Seibel performed the euthanasia. With my husband by my side, I held her, kissed her, and cuddled with her –– then he came in and gave her the injection while I held her on my lap on the sofa on her sheepskin blanket I’d brought with me – so much less clinical and I’m sure, less scary for her. She licked me, and when the vet put the needle in, she went quietly to sleep. He was very kind to us - at a time like that, that is very meaningful. They let us stay with her again for as long as we liked. I held her to me and gave her lots of kisses and wet her fur with my tears. I have never seen a clearer case of putting an animal out of her misery than with Tilly. My heart is broken, but Im glad we were able to do the right thing for her in the end. Tilly was a red smooth-coated brussels griffon whod been used to breed puppies for 9 years until she could no longer have puppies. We had her for several years and dealt with a lot of issues as a result. I can only hope there may have been some of her own puppies waiting for her on the other side and that she can lick them as much as she wants. I give this clinic an unequivocal five stars. It’s a beautiful new facility, and I will be going back with my other two rescued brusels griffon boys for their veterinary care.
