I was a former client at Aspenwood from 2009 - 2010 when it was owned by Dr. Laas and left due to the distance. There were several clinics that were closer to us, so I chose to go with one of the closer clinics. I received a phone call from the new owner, Dr. Kelly McCarty, in 2011 offering a free examination to former clients. Our beloved Beagle Basset was due for an exam, so I decided to take her up on the free offer. I cant even express how grateful I am that I received that free exam phone call. From the minute I was greeted by the staff, I was happy. Then I met Dr. McCarty and couldnt have been more pleased. She was very knowledgeable, kind and caring and found an issue with our dog (a.k.a. our daughter) that needed further attention. Long story short, it turns out our dog had cushings disease that shouldve been diagnosed sooner as the symptoms were clearly there and it seems as though Dr. McCarty knew from the beginning but wanted to be certain before informing us. It was later discovered that our dog was also suffering from a heart tumor. We eventually lost our "daughter" but it was inevitable. There was nothing more that could be done with all of her health problems. I cant thank Dr. McCarty enough for all of her genuine compassion and care that she provided for our dog and the comfort that she provided us. I truly have never met such a caring doctor and staff. We adopted a Basset hound a short time after our loss and there was no question as to whom we would choose as her veterinarian - Dr. McCarty is the only one I completely trust with our second "daughter". I pass several clinics on the way to Aspenwood but it is well worth the drive knowing that our Basset hound will receive the best care. It has been five years now and I will continue to make that drive for our 4 legged daughter with no complaints whatsoever! Dr. McCarty & Staff - thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you have and continue to do. Doctors such as yourself are truly a God send and deserve the utmost respect and admiration.

Aspenwood is the absolute best veterinary care weve ever had. We have two cats, our boy cat is very aggressive when he goes to the vet because hes scared and stressed.He became very Ill suddenly and we took him to Aspenwood for the first time. They were amazing! He was very upset being there though and Dr. McCarty understood this and worked out how we could keep our boy cat at home but still treat his newly diagnosed diabetes and UTI. She prescribed insulin and antibiotics and checked in with us all the time. He went into remission almost immediately! Dr. McCarty walked us through how to take care of him step-by-step and called us regularly to discuss how he was. We also emailed back and forth. The staff there is also amazing. The care that Aspenwood gives really lets you relax because you know they genuinely care about your pet. We have found a vet for life.

Aspenwood operates in a way that reminds me of how I imagine family doctors used to be 30 years ago- with incredible dedication to both patient and family. I have lived in three different cities the last few years (Portland, D.C. and now the Springs) and have been lucky to always find good vets (thanks yelp!). Hands-down, however, Aspenwood has been the best. Dr. McCarty shepherded my family through a very difficult time with our dog Bodie, and was the model of flexible, understanding, and responsive. There were literally two-weeks where I felt like we talked daily, with her answering any question my playing "Google Dr." presented in a way that never communicated any annoyance- only a desire to help. Really, I just cant say enough good things about them, I am just thankful they are my vets.

I moved here three years ago and have been searching for a Veterinary Hospital I trusted and I have found that in Aspenwood. The staff is relaxed, friendly, knowledgeable, and personable. They make the time for you and your pet so you leave with confidence. I couldnt be happier with the amount of sincere support Dr. McCarty provided for my 12 yr old female boxer mix. I made an appointment for my Swayze because of several concerns, one being her weight. Dr. McCarty made two follow up calls days after our appointment to go over Swayzes blood work and another to review her food. Dr. McCarty is knowledgeable in different dog breeds, I have a Weenie dog and a Boxer mix and Im comfortable that she can give them both the personalized care their breeds sometimes call for.

We met Dr. Kelly McCarty last year when we adopted our Weimaraner, Bailey. She was very sick and it seemed that we could not find out what was wrong with her. We took her to Dr. McCarty who first impressed us with her gentle and caring nature and we felt immediately at ease with her. She performed several test which all came back fine. She then suggested one more blood test , suspecting a tick borne disease. As it turned out , Dr. McCarty was right and she was able to treat Bailey and save her life! We brought several more of our animals to her because of her expertise and always received the best of care. We were so sorry to lose her, but feel that her new clients at Aspenwood Veterinary Hospital are so lucky to have her as their veterinarian.

Every review for this hospital has been excellent, and rightly so! I recently moved to Colorado Springs and my poor Pomeranian has allergies and frequents the vet for her skin and bronchial issues, so I was very worried about finding good care for her in a new town. I was referred to Aspenwood by the Pikes Peak Humane Society when my husband and I adopted a puppy, and weve been taking both our babies there ever since. They are absolutely amazing. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They call after visits to check on your pets, and when diagnosing and referring treatment they always explain your options thoroughly. If you enjoy being treated like family, then this is definitely the place to take your furry loved ones :)

We have 4 dogs that have been cared for by Dr. McCarty for several years. One of which is a 5 year old, accident prone weimariner, named Terminator. On more than one occasion we have had to rush him to her clinic. Dr. McCarty is very knowledgeable, professional & compassionate. She always went into detail as to what our options were and what the consequences of each option could be. One time in particular Terminator was hospitalized in another city; not only did Dr. McCarty maintain constant communication with myself, but she went above & beyond and reached out to the hospital staff to obtain frequent updates for us! We are very grateful to have had Dr. McCarty as our Veterinarian.

Dr. Kelly McCarty, DVM is marvelous. I have no hesitation recommending her services! My wife and I have used her practice for all of our pets for quite some time and have always been delighted. She truly has a fondness for her “patients”. Dr. McCarty is extremely vivacious, amiable and always enthusiastic, going above and beyond for the animals she cared for. She always took the time out of her busy schedule to follow up on the progress of my dogs once they left her office. That is a rarity in these days and times!!
