Just moved here in January and have spent quite a bit of money with this vet clinic. Not a fan of how aggressive they are with my puppy. I definitely prefer my vet back home in Michigan where they do not pin him to the ground, practically strangling him, in order to accomplish something. Also, pretty sure there is only one vet tech there that I actually like. Everyone else needs a lengthy training session in customer service. Just because you get to dissect dog feces for a living, does not mean you can be condescending to people asking for your help. My first visit was about a little bit of a cough that my pup had, mind you he had been vaccinated for kennel cough and I told them about how we go to the dog park everyday. After Dr. Miller HIGHLY recommended spending $600+ on some x-ray/blood testing package, my fiance and I just decided to spend the $30 on a single blood sample (which the vet tech had mentioned prior -NOT Dr. Miller- stating that they would essentially get the same results-determining whether he had pneumonia or not) - funny how when we brought up doing this simple test after she gave her package suggestions, she questioned if they were capable of doing that *Eye Roll*. Turns out, the test came back negative and his cold like symptoms went away after a few days. We then took him in to get another round of vaccinations since he was due, paid the visit fee on top of the vaccines just to find him with a terrible ear infection literally 2 days later. Arent they supposed to look at the ears and everything during an office visit? Its my bad for not noticing sooner, but those things were legitimately brown all over the insides - aka it had been there for a while! -I cannot believe that they did not catch this! And then when I called about it the following business day, they told me I had no choice but to pay for another office visit fee in order to have an antibiotic cream prescribed (which of course they were recommending an emergency visit yet again). They were not even willing to comp the visit fee! So I did some true "holistic" research and after reading tons of articles, I bought an ear drop on amazon and followed the directions until his ear infection was gone 72 hours later. My most recent encounter has sent me off the edge. The receptionist was actually very nice but had to send me to a tech over the phone since she cant tell me why my dog threw up and has diarrhea. The first lady I talked to stated that it was probably not Giardia as I thought, since it takes two weeks for the parasite to actually set in. She then of course recommended seeing my dog, which is totally fine. All I said was that I did not want to pay for an emergency visit, and to just to put him in the calendar as soon as they could get him in this week...this way I can also evaluate my dog from home to see if his symptoms worsen or taper. She said okay and to hold so she could chat with a doctor. Then another woman answers the phone, asks me all of the same questions that the first girl did (so I repeated myself like I do with all doctors), only to have her get short with me and guilt me into getting my dog in there for an emergency visit. I settled and agreed to bring my dog in the next morning so that they could potentially see him in between other appointments. Wish I felt more comfortable leaving my fur person with them for an extended period of time. Long story short, Im happy that Im moving back to Michigan in a few short months so that I dont have to deal with greedy, impolite, hostile people anymore. Oh and another vet clinic was very understanding of my situation, gave me a complimentary consultation as well as got me on the schedule right away (fee free) to see what is going on with my pup. And with that I say, "Good Day."

I would never take any of my animals here again. This place is ALL about the money and does not care about the animal. I took my cat here on a Saturday morning. It was an emergency to me and my family. my cat was bleeding from the mouth and his mouth was stuck open and we didnt know what was wrong. When we arrived they took our cat to the back without us. The vet came out and proceeded to tell us my cat had an abscess tooth and that was the cause and it that ALL my cats teeth needed to be removed because they were all bad....PRICES $1,500-2,500. OK WOW we have had our cat since a baby and he is 6 years old now..never had any problems. So that being said we took our cat and left. In my personal opinion this place is taking advantage of people in there time of need and taking advantage of peoples vulnerability and wanting to help their animal and do anything for them. We took our cat to another place and they treated us with respect and gave us a more than decent price, offered us pain meds to keep our cat comfortable until Monday when they could do the extraction. My cat is fine no thanks to RISING SUN. DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL TO A PLACE THAT IS ONLY IN IT FOR THE MONEY.. We only paid $500 for the whole procedure and my cat got to KEEP ALL his other teeth..only 2 needed to be pulled. LONG STORY SHORT...THIS LADY IS A CROOK.....

In response to the owner response...which is really laughable... Everything in the owner response is a lie... Yes we did bring our cat in there, it was an emergency however ..the way they conducted business was very unprofessional. They maybe had my cat in the back 5 or less before the Dr came out to inform me ALL my cats teeth needed to be removed. After the outrageous estement they gave I requested my cat back. There us no way she knew ALL my cat are bad being with him for less then 5 minutes. Safter requesting my cat back they got very rude..DID NOT give any suggestions for a cheaper vet and tried talking to my 11 year old daughter to get personal information because I told the lady we were leaving. They did NOTHING to help my cat and couldnt have charged us for anything. Very unprofessional and rude. So after driving around we found an amazing vet great people ...real animal lovers. They were able to help our cat take imaging, blood work ..the whole 9 yards... Pulled 3 teeth.. My cat is doing awesome no problems. And my kids get Christmas too... Dont listen to the response from this place..they are only trying to cover their butts...lies and horrible service ... And they did nothing for my animal its comical to me they said anything about charging me...lol...money money money..for what us walking in the door...

I have taken my dogs to several vets over the last 20 years, and Dr. Miller and her team at Rising Sun Animal Care are clearly the best! First, she stays up on the latest research, medications, and treatments, and is willing to take the time to explain the options and answer my questions. She also invites specialists into her office to provide additional consultation and support, which made a difference when my dog Bo had a difficult nail infection. Bo had a stubborn weight problem for many years, and yet Dr. Miller was the first doctor to suspect it might be due to a thyroid problem. After a simple blood test and some inexpensive medication, he was down to his target weight within a month! I wish I could keep my weight balanced so easily! When our family experienced some temporary financial hardship, Dr. Miller was sympathetic and worked with us in various ways so we could continue treatment that we could afford. She clearly cares more about animals and their families more than just making a buck, which is pretty rare these days. The final vote of confidence comes from my dog Bo, who gets excited and jumps around the car when we’re within a few blocks of the office. So Bo and I both give Dr. Miller and her team “two paws up!” Jim Knickerbocker, PhD
