Im not sure where to begin. First I like to do research when it comes to something as important as my children. As a parent to a 21,11and 2 yr old they all are unique and have had diffrent needs. My 2 year old suffers from sever asthma and has lived on a breathing machine since before teeth came in. Recently I noticed her breath was bad and it looked as though she was get a cavity on her front teeth dealing with the experience of what steroids in a breathing machine can do I started to became overwhelmed with her teeth looking like there was a decaying issue occuring. Kool Smiles in Killeen TX took my niece in right away she suffered from sever " bottle rot" her teeth were broken. That same day they sedated her fixed all her teeth you would have never known she had issues with her teeth. This is what lead me to Kool Smiles..I wanted a pediatric dentistry that knew how to deal with toddlers! I specifically asked before going are they familiar at their office with how to deal with toddlers. Of coarse there responce was yes. The staff up front was kind and was always working diligently. However my appt was at 8:30 I drove an hour there. A amazing slide kept my 2 year old busy for my 1 1/2 hour wait but when I arrived it was empty as people started to come in they were going right in. Im not impacient nor did I once ask what the reason was that a 2 yr old was kept waiting as we all know there patience is not like a adults. Finally we get called back and my little one was overwhelmed do to her dad not being allowed back. There where windows though so he could see us. We were escorted to a chair and it was clearly busy back there. My 2 yr old lasted 5 mins in that dentist chair she was scared the moment she saw it. So I took her to the window to see dad and to try to calm her cause at this point it was a long drive and long wait. I was a few feet from our chair where I left my purse and bag. All the sudden the doctor approaches us and asks that we take a seat " cause I didnt know anyone was here" that greeting completely threw me and wasnt exactly kind. Also not kid friendly a better approach would be greeting the child with a smile saying hi introduce yourself...This was her first time other than visits at the daycare! Then I explained that we had a very long wait resulting in me trying to keep her busy. It wasnt until she was screaming that we were even addressed. Then the doctor walks me through how to position her. She took one look in her mouth said " oh yeah she has a mouth full of cavities." My heart sunk in disbelieve I was devastated and teared up instantly...She then gets up walks away never saying by or any other word to me at all. I then see the nurse next to me and I said to her " is that all she plans to say to me?" The nurse said the hygienist would be over to talk to you. My daughter and I where almost non-existent i had so many questions...How..Why..We brush all the time her bottles been gone since 1! Then Im told things like " oh she brushes well you have to help" Really? No I let my 2 year old handle it. When Im asking questions when the procedure will be done how it will be done ect. Then I hear the words " if we dont have to pull her teeth" WHAT??? SHES 2 there not black or broken my goodness no babys teeth should ever be pulled...I see a dentist who sent me to 3 specialist because he refused to pull my 5 yr old nieces tooth he said it would cause them to grow back in crooked. Im now scared about my next move ....What dentist ( doctor)walks off from you and dosent ask if you have questions? They should never be to busy to have a social interactions with the parents. Answer questions...The hygentist shouldnt have been the only one talking to me. I waited 2 hours for 5 seconds of that doctors time! I went to Kool Smiles cause I was looking for pediatric experience and apart of this is being understanding and have the knowledge to know how to greet a 2 year old.

I am very disappointed in the poor customer service at Kool Smiles, both in Hartford, CT & at the corporate level. My mother made the mistake of setting up an appointment for me with them during my sophomore year in college. Years later I come to find out that I owe them a small balance for this appointment. I was happy to learn that the Hartford location was opened on weekends since I work until about 6pm during the week…and I wanted to speak to someone in person about the situation, as well as pay my balance. The first Saturday I decided to call before going since I don’t always trust everything I see online. No answer. I was transferred to a remote location where I spoke to someone who had no idea about that location’s hours of operation. She told me they were just busy so I waited and tried them a few more times. Nothing. When I was reconnected with her she told me she misspoke, and that they were open every “other” Sat., and this was the Sat. they were not open despite what it says online. Ok! I drove to the location the following Saturday. The hours listed on the door was the same as the hours online, but no one was there. Completely empty. Lights off. I called the Hartford location from my car and got the remote location again. This time the person on the phone told me she didn’t know why they were closed. I asked her if I could be transferred to someone higher up. She didn’t do that. She instead transferred me to another clueless rep. I opened a formal complaint with this one (she couldn’t provide me with a reference number for the complaint). Is this even a legitimate business? She said she would transfer me to billing to see if I could resolve the account situation over the phone. I waited for 30mins, then the call ended. I called back, spoke to another rep, and asked for the same rep I just spoke with. She said she would transfer me to her. I sat on the phone for about 15 mins before I decided to just hang up. Would think a company would be more accommodating to someone who is trying to pay them. I will be following up on my formal complaint about inaccurate hours listed on the website & on the door of the Hartford location. I will also make sure someone at the corporate level is aware of all the customer service problems!

This dental practice is really unprofessional. First off, I was kept waiting for more than an hour for an appointment which I made several days earlier. The office staff were also very rude and patronizing when I inquired how much longer my wait would be. Then when it was finally my turn, I endured some of the most excruciating pain I have ever endured in my entire life! These dental hygienists and dentists obviously havent had proper training and it shows. My mouth was still bleeding for at least a week after because of how much probing and digging they had done into my gums. It was supposed to be just a simple cleaning, but turned out to be much more painful because of Kool Smiles lack of training and expertise. So if you are looking to have your gums ripped wide open by clearly unprofessional and inexperienced dental workers, then this is where you should sign up for dental work. Otherwise, you are much better off in my opinion avoiding this place altogether. Sorry if my negative review impacts Kool Smiles bottom line business sales. However, my greater concern is about warning prospective dental patients about what I endured so they dont make the same mistakes of choosing this as their regular dental provider.
