UPDATED (6/5/2014): After seeing my review below, Trisha at cosmetic dentistry reached out to me. The office is reimbursing me for the portion that I paid for the services. I may not have been pleased with the work, but the customer service at Cromwell Dental has been top notch! I am truly impressed at how well they handled my case. A++ And I would like to reiterate that I would recommend them for general dentistry. No complaints there. Previous Review: Ive debated whether or not to write a review because the staff and the doctor are very nice people, and for general dentistry, I think the practice great. However, this review is for cosmetic dentistry. If you do not want to read the long review below, here is a summary: do not come here for cosmetic dentistry. I had a crown and a veneer replaced on my front two teeth. I also had a crown put on my back tooth (after a root canal). I will start with the crown on the back tooth. During my initial visit, my new dentist suggested the crown be replaced. She could not believe the crown was only a year old. My biggest issue with the tooth is the shape. I think the dental hygienist I had was new because she took the impression with a temporary tooth on that she made. The temporary tooth did not even have any of the indents that a normal tooth would have, so the resulting crown does not even closely resemble a real tooth. I would also like to add that it took longer than normal for the back tooth to come from the lab. Now I will move onto the two front teeth. I broke my two front teeth as a child and that is why I have the veneer and the crown. The work on these teeth is the most disappointing because they are extremely visible. First, the crown was made with a slight dip at the top where the tooth meets the gum. As a result, my gum has dropped down over the tooth. My current dentist tells me that I will need to have the gum cut (I believe with a laser), if I was to fix the dip, and then I will have to have a new crown made. I do not recall any issues with my gums before the crown. The veneer had its only set of problems. The first veneer that they put on cracked (which was the labs fault, not the dentist). Then I repeated had issues with matching the color of the veneer. I understand the process of matching the the color can take a few trips, but the color still is not correct. My veneer is slightly darker than the crown and the surrounding teeth (others have pointed it out to me, which is upsetting). I will acknowledge that I did agree to have the teeth cemented. I was hesitant, but everyone was saying that they looked fine. So, the office is not to blame, as I did give them the ok. However, I did call the office afterwards, and discuss with the office manager my concerns, and she had me come in (that is when we discovered the cracked veneer). After the replacement for the cracked veneer came back, I agreed to the cementing just to get the process over with. At that point I was 6-7 months into the process, I had moved cities and was dealing with the stresses of a new job. But, I think it is important to acknowledge that I did agree to the cementing. My insurance covered most of the veneer and the crown, but now to replace them, I will have to pay out of pocket because my insurance will only cover crowns and veneers every five years. Replacing the veneer and the crown is extremely expensive (especially in NYC), but I will be going through with the process.

*note...this was originally rated 3 stars...see edit at bottom for why I changed to 4* Nice facility and pleasant staff. My visit earlier today was just "OK". Xrays - During a previous routine cleaning visit, they incorrectly told me that xrays would not be covered. I called the insurance and verified that my plan did cover xrays, so when i came in to get a cavity filled, I explained that the error and Cromwell Dental went ahead and took the xrays....but then tried to charge me for them at the end of the visit. I pointed out the error again and they changed the bill, but it was kinda frustrating that they didnt know what my insurance covered AND they didnt check after i re-verified that they had it wrong. Filling - I was previously told that the filling would be on the biting surface only...but then when i came in to get the filling they said that they wanted to do a bigger filling that would cost ~$20 extra. Not convinced that was needed, but whatever. The finished repair work appears to be consistent with the quality of most other dental work ive done, though the edge has a pretty sharp burr that should have been smoothed out. I didnt notice it in the office because i was numbed up...i may go back later for a touch-up. I feel like Dr. Saferins chairside manner is a lot better than Dr. Breaults. Today she used the bite-mark to checkncorrect several times to make sure that the repair work didnt interfere with my normal bite. During a previous visit where Dr. Breault did a filling for me, he only did one bite-marking check and walked away before i even had a chance to say that it didnt feel right. The waiting room has free wifi, free otis cookies, and free bottled juice/water....which is nice. *edited to add....i got a call from Cromwell dental about the sharp edge (described above as a burr) on my recent repair, and they were able to fit me in the very next day for an adjustment. Dr Saferin spent a minute talking to me to understand what was bothering me, and was able to adjust the feel pretty quickly. She also smoothed out a similar uncomfortable edge from a prior (unrelated) repair. I changed the review to 4 star because i like that the team went out of their way to make sure my teeth feel right.

I have only ever had terrifying and painful visits to the dentist. I was always treated more like a bad set of teeth than a person and after years of mistreatment and aggressive sales pitches I just stopped going. A co-worker came in one day after an appointment and was gushing about how much she LOVES her dentist, I was doubtful but after she told me more about them I scheduled a new patient appointment and started my personal adventure with Cromwell Dental. From the moment I first walked in the door the Staff has been nothing but friendly. The office staff, technicians, hygienists and doctors are all wonderful and genuinely care about what is best for you personally and your over all dental health. They explain every step of the way to you and care about you comfort first and foremost. They use the most recent technologies and techniques and literally blew my mind with some of the equipment the used. My first visit included x-rays, an exam from one of the doctors, a preliminary cleaning and a sit down consultation where they gave me an in depth step by step dental plan of what procedures I needed to take care of cavities and what sorts of cleaning Id need to make up for 8 years of not going. They let me know roughly how much I would pay out of pocket and how much my insurance would cover. They even took the care to schedule my cleaning around my insurance coverage. They scheduled all my appointments that day and within a month, which was because of my work schedule not their availability of appointments, I was cavity free with a clean mouth. I even decided to start Invisilign through them and am about a month into that. Choosing Cromwell Dental has been one of the best choice I have ever made for myself. I have more smile confidence now than Ive ever had. I can not say enough good things about the staff who are ALWAYS there for you and work wicked hard to make sure all of your questions, no matter how small, are answered. If you are afraid or hesitant or dont think you can trust doctors, this is a safe place for you. You wont regret it. Cromwell Dental is amazing.
