Dr James is one of the BEST!! The place does not look like much but the care your animal gets is the best, he is straight forward, compassionate and extremely funny.I have had the best experiences with him, he saved my precious bulldog a few years ago after another vet misdiagnosed her and she was close to death, Dr James performed surgery on her immediately & found a small quarter size piece of rubber (from a toy) had lodged in her intestines, he saved my dog and found what was wrong immediately! I am forever in his debt. My other bulldog is a rescue and was abused but he is a perfect angel with me he just doesnt do well with others, the staff has been really understanding when I need to bring him in and they get us right into a room and Dr. James has assisted me in any way I ask not to make the visit too stressful for my guy, I love the way they always work with me and give me the assistance I need having a difficult dog,it makes life less stressful for us all! If you are new to the area or need a new vet, please go see them, you will never find a better Dr. that cares and will take the time to talk to you and also call you , not his staff, he actually takes the time to call you, that is really important, the personal touches mean a lot. My guy may have been a rescue and may have some trauma in his past but he saved me more than I save him and I will do whatever it takes to give him the best life possible and make up for the neglect that someone else caused him and Dr. James has also rescued a bulldog, Martin so he is just as compassionate in his personal life with animals as he will be with your animal, thats what all animal lovers want! Dr James St Clair and staff, you are the best there is and I would never trust anyone else with the loves of my life, my precious bulldogs!! thank you so much for all you do! If you read the other reviews you will see that Dr. James has replied to a few himself, that is exactly what I mean, take the time to please your customers! They are a very busy practice and that should tell you just how good they are! Our pets are our best friends, our children, our heart & our loves and you will never go wrong here....

So I called the have my dog come in for a nail trim. The girl who I spoke to said I need an exam appt bc my dog never been there. I told her they tried to do his anal a while back. I explained hes UTD on vaccines an I gave her my current 2nd vet whos out of state information. She said shell call have them fax his records and call me back. I waited 4 5 hrs. Didnt hear back. I called and it was the same girl who I spoke to before. She said that they just got it. Which is a lie bc my vet in MA is very fast to respond and on top of everything. I even called an spoke to them and they faxed earlier. Anyways. The girl said she got got it and was gonna call me back and said hes UTD an I asked if I need an appt. She said well its a walk in service but we have to book for tomorrow. So how does a walk In service work if you need an appointment? Makes no since. Its a nail trim. So I have to go to petco now. Thanks Im just gonna have to go all the way out of my way for a nail trim. When they tried to do his anal glands he wasnt happy. An was a naughty one. But not biting. The doc said we dont wanna traumatize him. I said well thats why Im coming here. Bc he already is. So if you cant do it then who can? Another vet I suppose.

I brought my male kitten to the vet to be treated for upset stomach and loss of appetite. I spent almost $200 on tests and medicine. He wouldnt take the pills they sold me to treat his upset stomach and wasnt really eating so I called the vet as they told me to if he wouldnt eat. They told me not to worry about the medicine because we didnt want to stress him out with trying to take meds. The next day he still wasnt eating and I called as the doctor told me to and never received a call back from the doctor. By noon, he was eating and not throwing up anymore so I stopped worrying so much. He seemed to get better, until a few weeks later he was still having diarrhea on and off and I realized I never got a call back about the results from his stool sample. When I called the office it took them a long time to find his test results and they said they found he tested positive for roundworm!!! They said the results were never passed to the doctor. This is also highly contagious to other animals (I have another cat) and humans!!!!!! My family has only ever taken pets here and the staff is friendly, but for my first experience with this vet I am very upset and will not be bringing my pets back to be seen here.

I would travel an exorbitant distance for Dr. Andersons care. I have been seeing her exclusively for 4 years(for dogs and cats). I love this office, they have fit me in numerous times for different pet urgencies. Dr. Anderson is not only knowledgeable and compassionate but is also budget conscious. She explains every procedure and lab work (in an easy to understand manner) and will always suggest various options in a matter of fact approach regarding pricing and effectiveness. Given the numerous times that I have seen her I have always felt her passion for medicine and her compassion towards my animals. She never leaves me in the dark and encourages me to ask questions which I appreciate greatly. She is easily accessible (has always called me back in a timely manner) and has never made me feel discouraged for asking questions. The vet techs at this facility are also amazing. Besides minor clerical errors, I would never take my beloved pets elsewhere.

If you suspect your dog is having joint pain or issues please consider scheduling an appointment w/ Dr. St Clair. Our previous vet was very capable and kind but I felt had little experience with spotting joint pain and issues. Our Shiba Inu had torn his ACL about 3/4. We opted for the Suture Stabilization surgery. It was the best fit for our dogs needs. Its been about 6 weeks and hes doing really, really good. We followed the drs instructions, although difficult at times, but it MUST be done or the surgery will be for nothing. The booklet provided by Dr. St. Clair was informative, thorough and a lifesaver for post surgery care. I dont know why more vets dont discuss this w their pet owners after surgery. He wont ever be 100% because of other issues hes had since he was a puppy, but this was a quality of life choice for us and it made sense. The cost was very reasonable and affordable, but we honestly would have done it either way.

Dr. James worked diligently for years helping my parents to stabilize our diabetic dog - as well as teaching us how to care for him. Although he always kept a professional demeanor, it was easy to see that he too was upset upon giving us the news that our dog had a large mass on his spleen. It is this type of comprehensive care that keeps my family using this practice. More recently I had the honor of adopting a one-eyed kitten from Meriden Animal Hospital that was saved ONLY because of the compassion that the doctors at this practice work with. She is now 13 weeks old, completely healthy, happy, and a bundle of joy. A little cat that was given a life, solely because one doctor, Dr. Stacia, decided she was worthy of being fixed. Everyone there comes highly recommended, and the care comes with smiles (and since everyone always asks), very reasonable prices.
