My mother and I took our cat to this clinic in the winter of 2005 shortly after Christmas and she was seen by Dr. Fahey. We had been going here for years and had always seen Dr. Cesana. She had been lathergic and not eating and had a large bulbous mass on her paw. The doctor weighed her and she had lost 30% of her body weight since her last visit. Dr. Fahey urged us to opt for a $900 surgery to remove the tumor from her hand and to do it immediately. I asked the doctor REPEATEDLY "Do you think operating on a 10 year old cat with cancer is a good idea? Dont you think it is likely that the cancer will manifest in other areas?" Dr. Fahey insisted that this type of cancer in cats is very rare and that it is very unlikely that that will happen. I urged my mother, who was not in the best financial position, to take the cat home and think about it first. Dr. Fahey urged my mother to leave the cat there that day and have the surgery done immediately and said (and this is an exact quote) "If it were my kitty I wouldnt hesitate." I wanted to tell the doctor that "If I were a vet I would exhibit more professionalism and keep my non-medically related opinions to myself." My mother and I returned home and forced the poor animal to stand up so we could look at her and immediately noticed a large mass on her back directly above her spine. My mother called back to ask the doctor why she didnt see this and how she could have been so insistant about the cancer not spreading without having even looked at the cat throroughly. Well as previously mentioned in other posts the front desk staff here are some of the nastiest women I have ever dealt with and the one on the phone said "We do what you ask us to do." After thirty minutes of arguing the clinic finally agreed to look at our cat again and told us she had weeks to live unless we opted for $3000 in surgery. They gave us some pain killers and we put her down a two months later. As a family we had gone to this clinic for over 20 years!!! Twenty years, five different animals, thousands of dollars and complete customer loyaltly and this is how we were treated. DISGUSTING! COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL!

We began using Old Canal when we adopted a boxer back in 2002. We decided to use Old Canal as they had been seeing the 2yr old boxer since she was 8 weeks old. Eleven years later, we are still very satisfied patients of Old Canal. Dr. Hexter and his staff are amazing. They have seen us through good and bad times with our dogs, always with kindness and compassion to both us and the dogs. They have been with us as we said goodbye to our beloved boxer at the age of 12 in 2012 and when we had to make the hard decisions for our other boxer earlier this year. There is a lot of support and zero judgement found at Old Canal. And there just wasnt anywhere else we even thought of going when we welcomed new adopted mastiffs to our family.

The staff are really nice. First time there I waited almost an entire hour just to get in a room, so my kitten was in a box the entire time. I do understand this part because many people were there putting their animals down that day. I had brought a stool sample, they lost it and never processed it. Probably because they were so busy. The REAL kicker, the vet gave me some generic kitten advice and actually recommended declawing my kitten in the future "depending on what kind of furniture I have". I couldnt run out of there fast enough with my little girl.

Wow. I was VERY impressed with the vet and her assistant. I have a large male cat who absolutely hates going to the vet, screams holy hell, and tries to murder everyone once he gets there. The last couple of places Ive taken him to either wouldnt examine him or gassed him out cold before they would vaccinate him, etc. This place actually knew how to handle him and were able to keep him under control. I am definitely going back.

Ridiculous wait times everytime you go. This means nothing compared to your dogs health. My dog was mis-diagnosed 3 times after I paid over $1000 for visits and tests. They told us over and over our dog was fine. We kept telling the vet he wasnt. My aunt was puppy sitting and her friend who is a vet noticed the dogs issues and found that the dog actually had a serious infection. So now we search for a new vet....

We have been with Old Canal for years for all our two dogs and our cat. They have been really good with us, and they are very considerate and sympathetic when ours eventually got sick and passed. Just picked up our cats memorial clay paw print today and they still were very sincere and showed sympathy. I have no real complaints and I recommend them, and will definitely go back when I have pets in the future.

If I could do 0 stars I would. Dr. Fahey was very rude and condescending. She told me if my dog didnt get spayed within a day or two shed die. The infection just started so she has time in real life, but according to her she didnt. She told me if I could not afford this $1200+ procedure to give her up. Im 19, how will I just make that money appear? I will certainly find a new veterinarian.

the vets are OK, but.their billing is incomprehensible. They pressured my wife into their pet care program and I cant get it cancelled. They want to charge me again to cancel the program!! they also screwed up a coupon, costing , costing me another $70. (sigh*

When our family rescue our dog about 2 years ago, this was the only place able to get us an appointment right away as soon as possible and take care of all our concerns and sorrows, always available when we need them for our Dog

Best vet clinic by far, everyone is just so nice and very knowledgeable. You can tell they just love their jobs. As a side note, Dr. Fayhe, the lady, is no longer there, she left a couple of years ago.

We have been coming here for twenty years and they treat us like family. Some doctors have changed but we still go there because of their expertise and attentive staff. Highly recommend it!

The staff is very friendly, and they truly care about the customers and pets. The prices could be just a little cheaper, however its totally worth it.
