This pediatrician was recommended to me by two different people while I was pregnant, but unfortunately a series of bad experiences have brought me to switch pediatricians. I made an appointment to meet with the pediatrician when I was about 36 weeks pregnant, signed in when I got there, and watched the receptionist grab the clipboard that I signed in on. I guess they threw away that sign-in sheet because my name was never called and they didnt even know I was there. I was waiting for 45 minutes before I asked what was going on and they said they thought I was a no-show. They were very apologetic but the pediatricians had left so I never got to meet with them, I ended up talking with a nurse. That was the first bad experience. I brought my son here for the first time when he was five days old. I met with the doctor in a small checkup room and one of the receptionists began knocking at the door trying to speak with the doctor through the door. She repeatedly told him "not now" but he continued to knock and call for her and after about 10 seconds he just opened the door, because he needed a password and couldnt be bothered to wait a minute. I thought this was extremely rude and unprofessional since I had been breastfeeding my baby less than 2 minutes earlier, and the door opens up to the chair I was sitting in. Then I walked out to make his two week appointment (same male receptionist was the one helping me) and as we were talking the phone rang and he stopped mid-sentence and answered the phone, not saying another word to me. So I waited there for a minute and he continued to ignore me while he talked on the phone as if I were never there. I ended up just leaving without making another appointment. I made his next couple of follow-up appointments over the phone, where once again, I had trouble with the receptionists, who for some reason would repeatedly forget my sons name, age, and the appointment I was trying to make for him when I had told them less than a minute earlier. Im not sure if they were distracted or just not that bright, because Im very patient but asking me three times if Im trying to make my sons two month appointment, when I had just said I was making his one month appointment, is a little bit ridiculous. Not to mention my calls would often be dropped and I would be hung up on while on hold. You can tell the receptionists arent very experienced. My sons two month appointment was honestly the only one that went without an issue. When he was four months old, I brought him in because he had a cough that he had caught from one of my family members as it was going around in our home. Everything went well except for when the nurse (not sure of her name, but she is older and has short black hair and glasses) was weighing him and taking down his symptoms, she talked to him in a baby voice "I think theres something your mommys not telling us! No, shes not telling the full truth is she?" I was thrown off by this comment and didnt say anything because I wasnt sure what she was trying to say, as my son is perfectly healthy and just had a cough, and I was completely honest about who he caught it from and where he caught it. I still dont quite understand the nature of this comment but it left a bad taste in my mouth, adding to all of the other problems Ive had here. So while I loved my sons pediatrician here, (Claudia White) I dont think I can deal with the unprofessional/disorganized support staff in order to bring him here anymore.

If I could give a lower star I would. I have been taking my kids here for two years. The first year we saw Dr Valentine. She was a good doctor but we felt Dr Barton was more friendly. Had I known she was not able to retain her education and was not out for the health and well being of her CHILDREN patients I would have found a new doctor a long time ago. Do not take your kids here. If you do and they see Dr Barton stop immediately. My daughter was 6 she just turned 7 on the 30th of March. I took my daughter in initially for a swollen lymph node on her neck that was said to be fine and ok to be itching. For 5 weeks my daughter suffered from wheezing/coughing, a repetitive 104+ fever. She would go maybe three days with no fever. So you know she missed a lot of school and was sent home a few times from this. I took her 3-4 times to be seen. She insisted the fever was ok and only fighting a virus. I expressed my concerns on her not showing any concerns towards the repetitive fever. She chocked it up to allergies and sent me on my way with allergy meds and a x-ray order. Please keep in mind, her sickness had already been on going nearly a month before she decided to order an x-ray. I asked for blood work or antibiotics something that would help. I ended up having to take her to the er to find out she has a sever case of pnemonia and may have something inside her lung that needs to be removed and that it is in no way okay or normal for her lymph node to be swollen and itchy. Nor is a 5 week repetitive fever of 100 or in my case 104+ signs of a common virus. I was told had I just sat back and trusted this woman my daughter could have suffered so severely that she would not fully recover she would have permanent damage somehow. I called this premature doctors boss to express my concern for her practice. Dr Barton calls like 20 min later and insists that it is all my fault that I couldnt get my daughter in for an x-ray that following day (Friday). I did not pick the phone up to discuss your case I picked the phone up to hear your apology. Not to be the one you try and make your cover up story with. I just received a letter from her today saying my children can not come back to their facility. I guess my call to them wasnt a clear enough sign that I fired them. I pay attention to my children Dr Barton. Im sorry you got offended that a Mom didnt allow you to harm her child anymore. May your schooling prosper and your knowledge grow from your blatant inability to see that a parent is right and youre wrong. God bless you.

The Doctors here are great, I trust most of them and they are also a clinic that sides with research-based evidence.. They do not allow unvaccinated children in their clinic. Theres a good reason for it as well. The only reason I am giving it "1" star is due to the following.. Although it may seem somewhat trivial.. The majority of the office staff (with an exception of maybe one or two employees) are callous, impersonal, cold, unfeeling and unsympathetic. Some days feel like you have been transported to The Twilight Zone as the days where they decide to treat you and your child like a human being and not a number vary greatly inbetween. You wish it was more often. I understand that perhaps the environment can be stressful, its important to not project those feelings onto other patients and their families.. Because some of us are polite decent human beings we tell the office staff to "Have a great day!" and no joke I have had them give me a blank or condescending look and ignore me. A positive note is that I love the Nursing staff there that takes care of us when we get there. I have an appointment today and I sincerely hope that Im surprised today. Atleast the Doctors whom I know have a bunch of responsibility on their shoulders have enough compassion to be kind and exemplary in their attitude. I always call them as well for advice before wasting time and coming to their office. I like that they always answer, guide me and give me information when I call the after work number. I just wish the office staff would treat me like a person. Update: The one female employee there that is typically very rude was there for a moment and some of the very polite nursing staff was in the front and WOW what a total difference in how you are spoken to and addressed.
