We took our two cats for their first check-up since getting them out of the shelter 8 months ago. The male has a slight infection in one ear. From the time we entered, our initial impression of Southport was positive; the building inside and out is immaculate. Inside is roomy, nicely decorated, without any antiseptic smells. There were no dogs barking in the background. The cats were calm and relaxed in this atmosphere. The entire staff was welcoming and very professional. Continuing the high standard was meeting Dr. Marlar, who was so good with our boy and girl. She exudes warmth, care, and professionalism. The vet tech was the same way, kind and gentle and thorough. The visit could not have been any better. Finally, the bill was very reasonable and fair. I believe that, considering the high standard of medical care and expertise, the personable and professional interaction, this veterinarian hospital and clinic easily wins 5 stars.

Those other reviews are very old. First off, they were located in a mobile home, due to their renovations or moving or whatever. I brought my two kittens there. One for a swollen paw. At the time we also decided to drop them off for spay/neuter. I had been checking prices for the spay/neuter and average price for the area was about $60, so I didnt think pricing would be an issue. They gave the first cat a shot for the swelling in his paw, because they thought it was just a simple sprain. Turns out, his paw is actually broken, indicative of the bone sticking up out of his paw. But, that would only be obvious if his paw was touched or xrayed or examined. Funny, how they charged for an examination. And the pricing for the spay/neuter turned out to be over $180 for each cat! Do not take your animals in for spay/neuter, definitely go to the human society first!

Wow. What a great experience. In the past eight months Ive seen about six or seven vets. This was the best experience Ive ever had. My Great Dane puppy pulled a muscle in her shoulder. Dr. Marlor quickly diagnosed her, explained the problem very well, and treated us with a ton of respect. I left paying less than $200; which is still shocking considering all that we did and the various medication my puppy needs for the pain. This place is awesome! Well worth the 30 minute drive I made because of good Google reviews!!! A total hidden gem. I will be back with my other dog and two cats.

Dr. Hagadorn and the staff at Southport (shout out to Melissa and Bonnie) are fantastic - excellent care for my pets and extremely responsive in terms of appointments and medication refills. Every single employee has been unfailingly professional and gentle in the years I have been going there. When my young cat had to be put down unexpectedly, the doctors and staff treated me so kindly and even sent me a condolence card afterward. Dr. Hagadorn is up to date on current research for my dogs condition and has suggested newer medications to help her. Cannot recommend them highly enough!

This has to be the best Vet center east of 95 the Staff from the girls a in the front to the the Vets assistant to the Doctors them selves very caring and supportive of your pets needs and feelings I have never felt the warmth of and entire staff in my life I grew up here in Ft Lauderdale so if you really want the best care for your animal and your emotional needs look no further than Southport Animal Hospital The best in lauderdale !!! I had a bad experience at another vet and Southport was such a relief. They were honest, reasonable, and caring. The vet was very sweet and genuine. After I went and got my pets prescription they called me a few days later just to see if she was ok with her meds. I found this was such a nice gesture. I would recommend them to anybody looking for a honest and caring vet for their pet.

I came in there in a real bad part of life.. losing a business partner and then laying my awesome pittbull down in the same week.. They gave care and true sympathy...They sent me a card and remembered my business partners name... Truly great and professional people.. I will bring my next four legged friend to see them for sure.. I love this vet... so much that I drive 25 minutes out of my way and past numerous vets to get to him. I believe he has my dogs best interest at heart and doesnt "run up the bill" like so many other places do. I do wish they ran an emergency service, because I do not trust most if not all of the emergency services.

We took our 4 month old puppy to Southport Animal Hospital yesterday. We were new to the hospital, they were extremely kind, they provided lots of information, we were well taken care of, they fit us in within an hour of us calling and the bill was not scary at all! We will be going back!

Dr. Kelli Marlar was fantastic. I took a cat in wich I rescued and she was very knowledgable. She spent her precious time informing me and giving me great advice. Melissa at reception was very helpful and friendly as well. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Great Clinic! Clean, friendly staff and they were very helpful when my cat was sick, they also gave treatment options including outside their clinic. Took my cat for a quick nail clipping there today only $10 and in and out service.
