5 stars to Dr. McMahan and her staff. From the receptionist to the hygienists to the dentist, everyone is great. When I first arrived in Jax a few years ago, I was nervous about getting my first root canal, but Dr. McMahan and her staffs friendly and reassuring manner put me at ease. Aside from the minor, temporary mouth soreness that comes after any major dental procedure, my root canal was surprisingly painless and not a big deal at all. It turned out to be nothing to worry about, and Im so glad I had it done here (you wouldnt want to go to just any dentist for a root canal). The staff has really good communication skills: during the procedure, they explained the whole process to me step by step so I was never left in the dark. They always checked on me to make sure I was doing ok, and made me feel comfortable - I could tell that they genuinely care about their patients. Even though Dr. McMahan is a busy dentist, she always took the time to answer my questions. She is very knowledgeable and competent, and I always felt like I was in good hands with her. I was surprised to learn that Deerwood Dental is actually a very high-tech dental practice. They have their own 3D imaging machine and tooth milling machine to make dental crowns right there on site, so I was able to get my crown the same day as my root canal, without the usual 2-3 week wait. Amazing! They even let me go in the back room so I could watch my new "tooth" being made. It was very fascinating. I have since moved back to my hometown, so Im no longer a patient here, but I miss Dr. McMahan and her staff. If I could, I would have brought them back with me; they are the best.

I am so grateful that I found this dentist. I was more than a little dental-phobic when I went into their office for the first time more than a year ago. They helped me game plan a treatment plan that wasnt overwhelming and would accomplish my goals. They explain each procedure and tech-y bit that they are using (ever seen a 3-D printer make your root canal cap right in front of your eyes???) and make the process interesting and less scary. Their entire staff is extremely educated, professional and considerate, even teaming up to help make x-rays go quicker when we had to do a bunch of pictures and I couldnt hold the mouthpiece effectively anymore. This team, from the doctor and the dental hygenist to all the techs and support staff, is just fantastic!

I have been going to Dr. McMahan for about a year now. A friend at work recommended her to me when I decided to switch dentists. My previous dentist kept trying to do invisiline even though I told her I did not want it or need it. Seeing Dr. McMahan has been a completely different experience. She is a great dentist, and she really cares about her patients. Her staff is really great too. I definitely recommend Dr. McMahan and Deerwood Dental Group.

Kodi is my favorite dental hygienist. She takes her time to clean your teeth, instructs you how to floss properly, and is very friendly. After cleaning, the dentist will examine and give you advices! Very friendly people (not sure about the front desk though). But overall I like this place.

Dr. Amy is amazing. Shes thorough but not overbearing or forceful. Extremely professional but very homey as well. Her staff are kind, quick and accommodating. Best dentist office ive ever been to!
