I recently visited Medplex Dental because I found a Groupon online for an exam, X-ray, and teeth cleaning. The receptionist, Micah, was extremely friendly and personable. When the dentist looked at my teeth, I was told that I had three rather large cavities. The man, Freddy, was adamant that I get them fixed immediately to avoid having a root canal. His advice came across as condescending and unsettling, so I told him I might come back at a later date but I didnt want to make any decisions at that time. When I got home and talked to my husband, we both reluctantly agreed that I should just go ahead, pay for the cavities to be fixed (even though I didnt have insurance) and be done with the whole situation. Soon after I called to schedule the repair. Micah answered the phone. I told her that I wanted to get my three teeth fixed. After she put me on hold to talk to Freddy, she then picked up and told me that I actually have nine additional cavities! Weve all heard of this happening with dishonest dentists. At this point, I hung up the phone and decided to get a second opinion. When I told a relative of mine about this situation, he recommended Royal Oaks Dental in Clermont, Florida. I immediately scheduled an appointment and asked the Royal Oaks receptionist how I could have my records from Medplex transferred over. She said to just come in, sign a waver, and they would fax my release form over to Medplex. Heres where the story gets crazy. I called Medplex and Micah answered the phone. I asked if I could get their fax number and the name of the dentist who worked on my teeth. That is all. She then proceeded to yell at me on the phone. She told me that I was so rude to call in and ask for that type of information. What? If you know me, I am relatively sweet-spirited and kind... there was nothing rude about my request. She said I would have to come in and sign their own release form and pay $25. At this point, I really never want to see anybody from that office again, so I told her that I would not be coming in and I would pay the bill over the phone. The conversation was less than pleasant. The receptionist at Royal Oaks was absolutely floored as she overheard the whole exchange. Thankfully, I was able to see the dentist at Royal Oaks and had the most delightful experience. He was kind, honest, and helpful. They ended up re-taking X-rays and found three tiny cavities. The employees were so sweet and really enjoyable to talk to. I ended up leaving with clean teeth and a happy heart. I dont know what happened to Medplex, but I will never be back. Poor customer service and dishonest employees.

DO NOT GO HERE! I purchased a GROUPON for X-rays, exam, and cleaning. I received the X-rays and exam followed by a $4,000 treatment plan for a deeper cleaning that the Groupon included, 6 cavities, repair damage for grinding my teeth and a mouth guard. I told them there was no way I could afford that much work but would get the cleaning done ($146 additional) as it was the most important at the time. I made the appointment for the cleaning the next day. I spoke to friends (one friend is a dentist in Pennsylvania) and family members which told me to get a second opinion since their pricing seemed extremely high and they had past experiences with a Groupon at a dentist and also getting an extensive treatment plan. I went in the next day to ask questions and express concerns I had. It was received very negatively by Freddie at the office. He got defensive and annoyed at the fact that I was explaining the research I had done. I asked for the X-rays so I could get a second opinion and was told I had to pay $20 which I did. I had my second opinion yesterday. The dentist tried to use the X-rays I paid for but they were useless because they were not mounted. The dentist then followed the treatment plan I was given at Medplex Dental as he gave me an exam. The only part that was correct was the deeper cleaning. The other work that was recommended at Medplex is "not necessary and aggressive" according to the second opinion and "that dentist should be reported". I do not have to get work on the 6 cavities I was told I have by Medplex and the damage fixed on my teeth from "grinding" on my teeth I was told I do. I do have to repair 2 old fillings and get a crown on a damaged tooth which the dentist at Medplex missed completely. I AM accepting that I need to receive work on my teeth which I neglected the last few years. I am NOT accepting getting ripped off by Medplex. I am requesting a refund for this Groupon. I am also filling complaints to the Better Business Bureau and the Florida Board of Dentistry. Medplex is not practicing in good faith.

AVOID IF POSSIBLE The staff is very unprofessional. After an hour of X-rays and examinations from the dentist, I was asked to go back into the waiting room before starting my cleaning. I simply asked for a time frame so that I may plan the rest of my day accordingly. The receptionist came out and asked me, "what the problem was," in a derogatory tone. Shocked and caught offguard, I replied there was no issue I just wanted to know how much longer it would be because at this point it had already been an hour and I was not expecting to be at the dentist for 2-2 1/2 hours. She continued with an attitude and behaved very unprofessionally, stating that I was the one with the attitude toward the doctor. After already spending an hour there, I just wanted to finish the exam so I reiterated that I had the time to finish my appointment but needed to reschedule my mechanics appointment later that day, so I again asked for an estimated time for the remainder of the cleaning. She would not give me one and continued to accuse me of being rude, yelled at me and was very condescending. She had an intense attitude so I told her to forget it, this was completely innappropriate and left. I am insulted that just happened at a "place of business." Completely ridiculous.

I found this place on Groupon (cleaning and xray exams) and as with any dentist unknown to my family or myself I wasnt sure what to expect, the dentist explain everything on the exam thoroughly, it turns out I have 6 cavities that need filling which I already knew from yrs of neglect! So I continue with the cleaning as scheduled while thinking about these cavities at the same time, after the cleaning I decided to scheduled an appt to start on the cavities 1 @ a time since I was paying out the pocket. I must say when I was mkn the appt I wasnt pressured to where I felt like I was on a deadline. Appt was scheduled a couple days later after cleaning, I have had bad experiences with other dentists and wasnt to keen on getting poked with a needle by another dentist but I needed to get started on my journey to healthier teeth. Let me tell you I was SOOOOOOOO impressed with this dentist and how he took the time to make me feel no pain with the needle thats why im going to tell the world, PAIN FREE DENTIST......REALLY....WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE.....also the staff is very friendly office is nice and clean! I would and have recommend them to everyone I know or anyone who hates needles! Give them a try
