1 month ago my dog/very special family member became sick. He began to experience some vomiting and lethargy. Being that he had always been healthy and very active I became quickly concerned and decided to bring him to be examined. He had an exam blood work and xrays.. the xray was negative but his blood work was very off. They expressed to me that it would be best to hydrate him over night and treat him with an antibiotic. Next day I pick him up and I notice he is in the same state but I was told to continue meds at home and give him a few days to bounce back to normal. During the next 24 hours I communicated with one of the employees(which I happen to know personally) continuously expressing that he didnt want to eat or drink. She told me to force feed the food liquids and medications. So trusting in God and the people i expected wouldnt steer me wrong, I waited sleepless and worry full I waited and prayed he would be ok. My Blacky passed away a day later on my sons lap. All within 4 days. I looked over all of his results and report trying to find an answer or reason as to what happened and discovered that not only did his blood work indicate more than dehydration but my baby had received the wrong medication. A medication that not only had deadly side effects but was for skin infections and other indications non of which blacky had. I went the following day asking to please speak to the owner Dr. Balough but they indicated that he was not available and was there only on certain days. So I asked if a message could be related and they said yes. Several days later I called again leaving yet another message just to be told he was out of town. Again 1 week later called and left a message for the office manager and was told I would get a call back in a little while but the call never came. I just wanted the main doctor to examine the report and help me understand with his professional and expert opinion what he thought happened so that I might at least have some closer. I have been completely ignored and treated like garbage. The worst professionalism and insensitive people ive ever encountered. I will add that the doctor that treated my dog did take a moment the day after he passed to give me his "best" these things just happen sometimes" explaination, but i still had questions. And being that i work in the medical field as well i felt there was more to it and felt the desire to understand better. I couldnt just tell the mom of a child that passed away in the care of my job these things just happen sometimes. Im heart broken and angry at the carelessness of this facility. Before I continue I want to share that I didnt look or feel towards my dog as a dog. My feelings for him were like mother to child. He meant the world to me and till this moment I am still mourning and devastated at his sudden loss. My family will not be the same. My children are hurting. And I understand that loss is a part of life but the way we were treated has made the process so much worse. I hope this doesnt happened to anyone else but unfortunately the employee made a mistake and told me this happened to someone else that same week. I do intend to proceed to find some closer, but in the mean time wanted to make you all aware of the risk you take when bringing your companion to this place. To you your pet is a loving family member to them just another customer. This is written in memory of my dear blacky whom I brought to Mayfair to save. I miss you immensely my heart is broken.

I took my 1 and a half year old female to this clinic, she was acting unlike herself. Apon arrival the people at the front were rude and did not even welcome me nor my pet into the facility, than came the examination and without any tests I was told she was diagnosed with Prometra and it would be $753 to preform the surgery or that she would die, obvisously loving my pet as much as i did I agreed to do this. When it came time to pay it was $823 and i was told in a sharp and rude tone my dog would be ready at 6 pm like she was an order and not my family member. I arrived at 6 pm only to have my dog still completely out of it (which I half expected) but my dog could barely stand up... like she was just taken off the medication and handed to me. It took 20 minutes after that to get the cone collar and was sent with instructions on caring for her. I did exactly what was told to me. Than Sunday the day of my heartache happened. 6 Days after her surgery after I checked me stomach that morning and found a slight lump (thinking to myself I need to call the Vet this does not look right) I walked my baby girl only to have her as she was squatting to open up and everything inside was on the outside. I called and was redirected to an emeergency vet who neglected to tell me they werent the same facility. I was covered in my dogs blood and urine, my brand new car covered as well to make it to the vets an hour after this happened. From this point on it was a blur, I was told it would be $3200 to fix her and that i should put her to sleep. Not having that type of money to spend with odds as low as they gave me, I reluctently (after several hours of holding my hurt baby, agreed. I held my dog until they killed her. I sat in my car for over an hour crying because she was like my child. The next day I phoned the vet to inform him of what happened. The tech who answered told me that it should have never happened that they "fix" those with ease and my dog should still be alive only if it happened Monday instead of Sunday. When the vet got on the phone he told in direct quotes "I have never had stitches open after 4 days there should have been no reason for this" I was lied to, over priced, and now I am one family member less. I am currently battling getting refunded for this mishap and will be seeking legal action if the Vet does not take responsibility for this. I could have handled the bad service and rude atmosphere, but my baby girl suffered the brunt of what a shameful association this is.

I agree with everyone else here saying theyre money hungry. They seem very caring and loving in the beginning to get your money. Just a couple of weeks ago, my senior dog was diagnosed with heart disease. I took her there for the first time and she was given medication and was doing just fine. After a few weeks, she ran out of medication and I called to ask to buy just a few because I had just moved to Florida from out of state but had not found a job yet so money was very tight at the time. They sold me a couple on enapril 10mg, which the dose was wrong to begin with because my dog was on 5mg but i cut the pill in half. Then they told me they could not sell me just a few of the vetmedin but they could give me a few expired pills to last me about 5 days. I had no choice than to take the offer praying that it did no harm to my dog because it was that or watch my poor dog have difficulty breathing again which had already happened when I ran out for a few days. I started searching the Web for both enapril and vetmedin and found them at a price that would save me over $60. All this company needed was her vet to approve of it and they would ship it to me right away. When the company I ordered the medicine from called Mayfair Animal Clinic to get the approval, they rejected the medication saying that my dog needs blood work before they can approve the medication. Meanwhile, they never had a problem giving me the medication when they were charging me almost $150 just for the medication that didnt even last 30 days. I called Mayfair back and asked for more time to get her blood work done because i didnt have the money at the time but they didnt care. They didnt care if my dog died in the process of me trying to find another doctor that would approve the medication. All they were interested in was to make some money off of me being that they knew i wasnt going to be buying the medication from them anymore because i found it much cheaper somewhere else. These people act nice in the beginning so then they can milk you for your money afterwards, this is how they fool you. I would not take my dogs there ever again and I suggest to anyone who really loves their pet not to take them there where money is more important than anything else.
