I give 1 star ONLY because of everyone else I met there was kind, sweet, gentle and respectful. However, from the moment I walked into Dr. Nwokolos office it was obvious that he had no intention of listening to me and had a preset opinion/judgement-- based on what is a mystery since he had NO intention of even looking at the many files, Dr. reports, and medical history documents I had with me. I literally had binders of info for him as well as Drs names, etc. but he was uninterested. His holier than thou attitude was like something out of my worst nightmares. He would ask me a question and then either correct me or just blatantly interrupt me. He jumped to conclusions without bothering to actually hear the facts. He was very cold and asked me about very personal and traumatic things with the sensitivity of a cod fish-- sorry a fish would probably have had more empathy and class. When he would repeat something I supposedly said he had it completely twisted, I probably wouldnt recognize myself if I tried to read what he had written about me and my history. He even made fun of my memory issues as I scrambled through my files to answer his questions accurately. I went in with notes about medications I was hoping to discontinue now that I had moved across the country, been through a divorce and my entire life and environment was different. Id be surprised if he even knows I am divorced as I was not allowed to explain why I was in CA & looking for a dr. It was obvious the way he was interrogating me that he had some preconceived HALLUCINATION that I was just another doctor jumping druggy. If he had let me speak for a half a second, he would have heard how I am ACTUALLY trying to use as many holistic methods as possible to NOT need medications. So, I walk in with hopes of tapering off certain medications, maybe switching to something milder if absolutely necessary, proud that after 3 yrs of EMDR, medications and therapy, and finally accepting that disability was appropriate at least for a time; finally stabilizing and beginning to feel grounded and at peace with the confidence that I could create healthy routines and self-care. I walked out in shock, feeling more unsettled than I have in years. This man violated me and abused me in the way he approached me and treated me. He is rude, cold, disrespectful, unempathetic, and a danger to anyone who is in serious need of psychiatric care. Im blessed that it was me in my current health that walked in there or he would probably have just committed murder via suicide. It would be interesting to know how many of his patients end up dead. I still may be a part of that statistic as he did not provide me with a SINGLE refill! Apparently all of the warnings from multiple doctors and pharmacists about the risks of abruptly discontinuing the medications I am on was misinformation. Apparently risk of heart arrhythmia, seizures, blood clots, and potential death are ok in his book. I guess he must the smartest Doctor within the USA! He has to be for so many other doctors to be so off base that all I really need is to take is Benadryl. Oh, and when I ask about if it is a prescription dosage, he acts like I just asked the most absurd question and told me to go the dollar store!! He then told me he wanted to see me back in a month, in my dumbfounded state, I made the appointment and realized on the way home how rediculous it was to make an appointment!!! I dont need refills for Benadryl! Unless he has some inside connection with the dollar store that I am unaware of!!! Truly the WORST Doctor experience I have EVER had or even heard about! The man is dangerous and a liability. He should be disbarred and investigated for potential deaths caused at his hands. I called family to tell them about this actual potential health risk and my father was so concerned he called to put them on legal notice. If werent that I am still in need of the disability benefits, I would be getting legal counsel on how to bring legal action against him and anyone that thinks he is NOT a danger to patients.

From my experience I would have to say you get what you pay for. I would imagine resources for the centers are scarce seeing that most of it patients are socioeconomically disadvantaged forcing them to get help at a place seriously underfunded due to having to rely on a broken Medicare, Medicaid, and an overall healthcare system. That being said, the counselor I spoke with was friendly and professional. On the other hand, the administrative arm of the Centers needs work. On several occasions I have had problems with scheduling as well as necessary paperwork needed for my continued care. Healthcare workers can only do so much with limited resources and I have come to expect this. I cant blame them for trying. Maybe if our political leaders got serious about caring for the people and took their hands outta the deep pockets of the special interests from the healthcare industry and let common sense guide decision making when it came to creating a real healthcare system!

This place is horrible they arent helping anyone there.Ive had very bad metal problems since I was a child. All that they did was force me to take risperdol by injection with now has caused worse mental and physical problems.they also helped get my social security check taken the only way I have to survive so for the last five years Ive been living on food stamps homeless . Its not bad enough to suffer mentally and need help they want to make you suffer. So far in the five years Ive been going there they had me see a which doctor named heather McLeod a native American shaman and a voodoo priest named nofwacolo Im actually a lot worse for having gone there. And not just mentally also physically and quality of life. But I suggest you go see for yourself so you can also wonder how they get away with this abuse of people.

Will force you to pay for their mistakes. They scheduled my appointment wrong, wrote the wrong dates and wanted me to pay for the "missed" appointment". The appointment was never scheduled and even worse the therapist called and argued with me for 10 minutes while I was working to saying "perhaps you just saw the dates wrong" as opposed to perhaps she wrote them down wrong. Unbelievable, but to them its all dollar signs . You are forced to pay for the missed appointments even if they are scheduled WRONG. If you have a choice, do not come here, if youre being forced to come here I am so sorry for you and the pain that you face at the hands of these businesses. Please, seek real help for yourself and know that this is a business and there are people out there that can and want to help you.- Erica Michelle Almeida

I went here twice as a teen and both times the doctors were VERY rude and disrespectful. The place is a little unorganized and it seemed that the front counter staff talked among each other more than being concerned with questions and usually joked about clients after theyve left. However, I really enjoyed both my therapists. They made me feel so much better and relaxed. These ladies are the reason behind my 3 star rating. They genuinely cared for me and wanted to help me.
