I just moved to Key West, FL last Friday. My dog ended up having a serious intestinal issue where she couldnt control her bowel movements and wouldnt sleep and had to go out every 15 minutes. The stool wasnt looking normal and I began to seriously worry about her when it got really bloody. Since I was new to the area, we had not gone to see a vet yet - and I was ready and willing to drive 45 minutes to Marathon to go see a vet. The person I spoke with on the phone was so kind got an extensive history over the phone of my dog and the issue... She then wanted to get the DR so I could speak with him myself. We ended up getting disconnected and no more than 5 minutes later I received a call back from Dr. Raj Joshi who was on that night and he took time to talk to me and tell me how to check to make sure my dog wasnt dehydrated and went out of his way to give me as much guidance he could over the phone. Since the emergency visit would be costly, and then whatever they did after the visit would be extra he didnt want me to drive to spend an excessive amount of money if it could wait the 6 hours until morning when I could go into a vet closer to me. Not only the fact that I not only got a call back after being disconnected and got to speak with a doctor on the phone who didnt rush me or my questions, but that they werent just trying to take my money and get me into their hospital made me write this review! I didnt even go there and I know this hospital is superb! Thank you so much to the kind staff for their dedication and patience with a very frantic dog mom. If I am ever in the Marathon area, or know anyone in the area, I would refer them to this hospital without any hesitation!

I live in Key Largo and make the drive to Marathon for my pup. Shes like one of my kids and after some research I took her there as a 2 month old because it seemed like the best place. The other vets I took her to in Miami were horrible and wanted to give her really strong mange treatments after she was just starting to recover from a bad case of double pneumonia! She was a rescue and got off to rough start. Mange is a weak immune system issue and believe it or not there are natural cures that really work (like Ted from Bangkoks). Anyway, Dr Gerry has always been open to alternative therapy and is so compationate. The place is clean, staff is efficient, and I have never waited with an appointment. When Maggie has been ill the call back time is great and I have nothing but great things to say about the place. Go see Dr. Gerry!

Dont waste your time or your money. The vets are going to tell you to go homeopathic after making you wait at least 1 hour. I was thoroughly unimpressed with the majority female staff. The old hens/Drs flutter about and order the younger chicks around. None of them actually seems to know what theyre doing. Also, I got charged $500 for "Pre-dental" blood work on two little Yorkies. Major waste of time and money. Go to the nature food store and ask them what you should give your pet. Thatll save you $500 and a couple hours. Last of all, I would thoroughly question them before letting them do surgery on your pet. They wanted to put our Yorkies under, even though they are 10 years old. That would have been a $4000 bill.#miserable!!!

The doctors and staff at MVH are AMAZING! My dog and I came to Key West 5 years ago and everyone told me that this was the best Vet in the Keys. I am so glad I listened to them! I now have two dogs who not only see the doctors there, but also board there when I have to be out of town. My dogs strain and pull at their leashes when we pull into the lot. They cant wait to get into the building! It is wonderful to have peace of mind, knowing that there is someone in the building all of the time to play with them and love them. Even the receptionists greet them by name and are interested in how they have been. I honestly could not recommend an animal hospital or boarding facility more highly! They are the best!!!!

We were staying in Key West when my dog suddenly became very ill. At 2 am in the morning, Marathon Vet Hospital was our only option, and even though it was 50 miles away, we took him and were glad we did. He was bleeding internally and needed emergency surgery. I was so impressed with all the docs that helped him- Dr. Carloni as the emergency vet, Dr. Mader as his surgeon and Dr. Gerry, who has been working with us on keeping him healthy and his immune system strengthened through Chinese medicine. The entire team was wonderful, and we feel so lucky to have found them. Its not often you can find a vet with a traditional medical and holistic approach. I wish I could take my dog there year round.

OMG DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE!!! They love to run tests and collect fees for visits, but they dont actually want to prescribe your dog anything that will make them better. My dogs got diarrhea from drinking muddy stagnant water. Should have been in and out, but noooo. Dr. Quin the medicine woman had to make me and my husband wait for like an hour and a half. Then she was like, "just feed him pumpkin." My husband would not let her off the hook. He told he wanted the pills and guess what, she prescribed them. So I ask you, the people, if my husband hadnt gotten the meds, what would have been the result? They would have told me to come back and pay for ANOTHER visit. #hatethisplace!!!

Dog poisoning is alive and well in the lower keys. No suspicion and no cause of death. Just put him down cause hes older and pay your bill. I went back a week later to ask, what did Buzzy die from. Dr. Raj stated," I cant rule out rat poison, but not the kind we are used to seeing down here. So be aware, the rat poison proffesional is still at it on little torch key. How many dogs have been dropping and the vets say, you need to ask for testing for cause of death. I went back and pulled the 4page blood test, and yup, commercial rat poison. The kind you cant treat. Sherrif wang stated, we dont do dog crimes. So is the keys dog friendly?

Took my dog in for allergy problems. Everyone seemed nice at first, seemed like they really wanted to help. Ran one test without permission and charged me for it. Given meds and a shot and sent home. These did not help her and had to call and get different meds, which were just a temporary fix for the problem. Called back again to see if they would help after the second meds wore off, said I would have to make another appointment even though its the same problem and would have to pay the fee to be seen again. Now out a few hundred dollars with nothing to say of it.
