I am a client of Dr. Duggan and my two kitties have been patients of his for the past five years. He has been so wonderful and knowledgeable in treating my cats, that I would recommend no other vet. I had previously gone to Banfield and Alton Road Animal Hospital; I was not very happy with them. Their lack of expertise and "money driven" practices led me to Dr. Duggans office. I was very happy to find that he was more of a small town type of veterinarian; he has been practicing for over twenty years and the clinic is one of the oldest in South Beach. His expertise in treating animals is very practical and knowledgeable, while still remaining economically feasible. I have never felt like I was being "ripped off". I also love the fact that he has always let me be in the room with my kitties when they are in treatment. Other practices usually just take your pet and treat them while you are not in the room; Dr. Duggan has never done that because he seems to understand the security that the owner provides to his/her pet. I am surprised to hear that he is "rude"; his staff is very polite and so is he, but there should never be a reason why anyone would question his expertise. He graduated from UF and has been practicing longer than most clinics on the beach. I have complete trust in his ability to treat animals in the appropriate manner and recommend him to anyone interested in encountering a knowledgeable and HONEST vet once and for all! Dr. Duggan is the best on the beach!

I went to get my puppys cough checked @ South Beach Animal Hospital. The vet didnt even care about the cold, instead proceeded to tell me the 2 MONTH OLD PUPPY had laterally luxating patellas(bad kneecaps) on both knees requiring surgeries within the year costing $1000 or more.Convincing me this was evidence of bad breeding they encouraged me to return the faulty puppy while I still could by Florida law. My boyfriend & I were heartbroken and spent our last night with our beloved little boy.The next day we gathered our courage and brought the puppy back to the store & explained the problem. Store owner was horrified & took him to her vet which upon exam concluded there was NO problem. We picked him back up & took him for another opinion and thank god we went to BAY ROAD ANIMAL CLINIC! Dr Duggan is a true vet, tells it to you straight w/o trying to cheat you. And guess what, there was NOTHING wrong with the puppy! thinking about the amount of heartache South Beach Animal Hospital put us through makes me cringe at the fact that they have tons of clients who are being/have been ripped off or emotionally distraught due to their incompetence. GO TO BAY ROAD CLINIC! ITS DOWN THE STREET! HONEST & RELIABLE

In May of 2012 my wonderful cat of 13 years developed a cancerous tumor in his jaw. Dr. Duggan and his staff were so kind and sympathetic, but also straight forward and frank about Cohibas prognosis. He let me know what to expect as my cat became more ill which made me MUCH more comfortable and certain about the decisions I was going to have to make. When it was time to make that last decision, I was at least prepared mentally for it. Since I am also a "starving artist", he always tried to work with me (when he could) to help lessen the financial strain on me as well. Dr. Duggan never sugar coated Cohibas condition and never tried to create a costly, complicated care plan which ultimately would have done nothing to keep my little guy alive. Ill always be grateful for the care my cat received at the end of his life as well as the care given to me during that difficult time. Now i have a rescued Chihuahua named Yoyo and I, of course, have put my trust in Dr. Duggan for all her medical needs as well. I highly recommend Dr. Duggan and his staff at The Bay Road Animal Clinic.

Great choice! Let me start by stating, "I dont write reviews". That has now changed. What started out as a routine visit, ended with a new friendship. I am a pet lunatic. My dog is like my kid. Sounds strange, but most dog owners feel this way. I did my homework on vets in the area. All the vets were the same. A lot of good reviews, some bad. From the moment I walked in, I knew I made the right choice. I met Lucy, who was not only courteous, but knowledgeable. She wasnt some inexperienced eye candy. She had worked for vets in the past, and had a true passion for her job. She understands the business. After a 3 minute wait I met Dr. Duggan. Great guy. He is all about passion. He has a passion for pets, for cars, and for life. He lives in the building where his practice is, so he is very reachable. He gave my dog a shot for worms three days ago. The dog is now perfect! I didnt have to give pills to her. It was easy and inexpensive. Overall, a great experience.

Due to my current economic situation, Ive had to recently use a discount vet service which comes through a local pet store once a month for my dogs shots ( rabies, etc...). This service, however, is not permitted to sell the rabies tags, so I went by Bay Road Animal Clinic today to purchase the tags, hoping to get a glance at a possible future vet to use. When I walked in, a man who appeared to be the vet, slid open the little window to the office and stared at me....no hello, just stared at me. I explained to him what I needed and he told me no. He then told me to take my business back to where I had gotten the shots. I said that i would take my business elsewhere, to which he smirked and said "Someone else will get your business? Yeah, thats why you go to PetCo for your shots. Youre not a client here!" Wow......I was shocked. I then went to Alton Road Animal Hospital where I was treated very well by friendly staff.

Dr. Dugan is very attentive and is a great listener. My only wish is that he could be open 24 hours because I never want to go to animal hospital for a misdiagnosis again. He looks at the dog and can tell exactly what is wrong. He listens attentively to my history that lead to my dogs health issues and does his best not to over charge. Over paying when a small is dog is an easy thing to do and he is reasonable and helpful. He also has a calming effect on both me and my Coton de Tulear, which neither of us tends to be calm in moments of health issues. Thanks DR for your commitment to your practice and the good things you do for Angel whenever she is sick and at her annual visit.

I guess the best way to start is that my dog loves to go see Dr Duggan! This is a very homey and pet centered practice. We have dogs and cats and over the years have gone for routine care as well as emergencies. In each case, I have been very pleased with the care our pets have received at Bay Road Animal Hospital. We went to other area vets a few times when Dr Duggan was out of town, and never will again. Your pet gets personal service by Dr Duggan and his assitant Gabby and isnt just a number. If you are looking for warm, compasionate , knowledable care by real animal lovers, Bay Road Animal Hospital is the best choice on the beach.
