My 14 year old son has been struggling with acne since he was 12. We started out with buying every over-the-counter acne product available. They over-dried and irritated his skin, causing more break-outs. At one point we consulted a dermatologist, and my son was prescribed a course of antibiotics along with a topical medication. He skipped more doses than he actually took, and he went to bed without properly cleansing his face and applying his cream more often than I’d like to admit. Consistent skincare was a foreign concept to him. And I did not exactly win a mom of the year award, when it comes to staying on top of my son’s daily skincare routine. I blame my overwhelmingly chaotic schedule. We finally made an appointment at Juno Dermatology to see Brittany Zimmerman. I was looking for a small practice, hoping to find the right solution in our situation. When I first called the office to inquire about scheduling an appointment, the receptionist took her time to answer all my questions and spoke highly of Brittany and her passion to help people with acne, which made me feel comfortable right away. We had a great visit with Brittany: she took our concerns seriously and came up with a solution, taking into consideration our struggles with following acne treatment regimens in the past. She recommended a VI Peel Purify for my son. Brittany explained to us that it is a medical grade chemical peel that is specially formulated for individuals with active break-outs looking to achieve clearer skin quickly, reduce redness and inflammation, and also diminish the appearance of acne scars. We decided to give it a go. The peel was done by Jennifer, who is an aesthetician at Juno Dermatology. My son and I liked her right away. She explained the procedure to both of us in great detail. We were instructed on what to expect and she went over the post-peel care with us. It was going to be “our” first chemical peel, and Jennifer made us feel at ease, reassuring that it is a painless procedure with a minimal downtown. My son enjoyed his treatment! She called me the next day to check on him. The fact that she genuinely cared meant a lot to me. After a week my son was done “peeling” and for the first time in a long while he saw himself with a clearer skin! We were very impressed with the results. We followed up with both Brittany and Jennifer, and they both agreed that my son would benefit from a so-called “acne surgery” done every month to maintain the health of his skin. Turns out an acne surgery is a deep pore cleansing facial, and our insurance covers it! Brittany and Jennifer also recommended a few professional grade skincare products to use at home to compliment his monthly treatments with Jennifer. SkinCeuticals Clay Mask and Phyto Corrective Mask are awesome. The whole family enjoys our “mask nights” twice a week now. This experience taught my son that, when it comes to skincare, great results are achieved through dedication and consistency. The improved appearance of his skin motivates him to take a good care of it every day. We are looking forward to repeating the VI Peel experience in the next three months as well. I am very grateful to the staff of Juno Dermatology for their care and for showing us how enjoyable, rewarding and fun skincare can be.

Beauty may only be skin deep, but it may only be true when you have a beautiful skin. Those of us familiar with a day-to-day struggle with rosacea know that the emotional distress and social implications associated with the looks of our skin extend way beyond its depth. My skin would flare up with agonizing redness in the middle of an important meeting at work, at a dinner date with that cute guy who would never ask me out again, at a store, at the gym… Normally witty, I always failed to make light of these situations, hating my skin for its betrayal. I do not recall a single day without having to reassure a random good Samaritan that “no, I am not having a heart attack” or without being unintentionally insulted by an innocent child. I had days when the responsibility to show up for work was the only thing that kept me from the grip of agoraphobia. But I was going to get in control of it – I was going to get help. I did my bit of reading and research and decided to look into laser treatments for my rosacea. As a side note, I wanted to clarify that I did have other treatments in the past and I found topical medications and oral antibiotics effective to some degree before I hit the treatment plateau. As excited as I was about trying a new approach, I was not about to entrust my hyperactive and unpredictable skin to anyone. I came across the mentioning of Juno Dermatology and Brittany Zimmerman in some of the on-line reviews with regards to her success in managing rosacea with laser treatments. Very similar cases to mine. Upon further research, I found out that Brittany is a virtuoso in the world of aesthetic lasers. And that’s how she became my dermatologist. Brittany told me I had an erythematotelangiectatic rosacea – unpronounceable, but not untreatable. She was very honest with me – she told me I wasn’t in for an overnight miracle or a cure, but a series of laser treatments and a proper skincare at home would help me to manage my condition and improve the appearance of my skin. I committed to a package of three treatments, done a month apart. Brittany worked with me beyond what my purchase entitled. Even though the very first treatment session gave me the results I was excited about, she spent extra time at each appointment that followed fine-tuning my settings to deliver the results she was satisfied with as well and to ensure a long term improvement for me. Brittany’s intelligence, experience and progressive approach make her an outstanding provider in her field, but on top of that I am humbled by her dedication to my personal success story. Transforming my skin has transformed my life in more ways than putting that extra spring in my step.

I was seen at Juno Dermatology over Thanksgiving, but due to my hectic travel schedule I only now found some time to post a review. Dr. Krishtul is the MOST thorough and genuine Dermatologist I have seen. Her bed-side manner is impeccable. The staff is professional, courteous and the office has a peaceful, serene atmosphere. I appreciated the fact that I was able to be seen so quickly, as usually I cannot get an appointment with a Dermatologist for weeks! I was given lots of free samples post-appointment and was given the opportunity to ask many questions. If you are looking for professional, caring, and competent service look no further.
