My cats are my children so like any pet parent I want my kitties to have the best health care; I finally found it at Four Paws. Dr. Tyson and her wonderful staff deliver that care and so much more. They love their clients pets as much as their own and are compassionate when the news is bad. When faced with an unusual illness in a pet, they do not just give up and say, “Well, I don’t know what it is”; they go that extra mile. Simply put, they are the best in the business, paws down! In a recent conversation with my husband about moving he asked what was keeping me here and I told him it was my vet.; THAT is how much I appreciate her and her staff. It took me four years to find them and I dont want to lose them now. I first met Dr. Tyson and her wonderful staff in October 2010. I had two sick kitties; Rebel and Sunny. I took Rebel, a loving black kitty, in because of a growth on her cheek that one vet misdiagnosed and another said to me, and I quote, "Well, I dont know what it is". Sadly, it turned out to be bone cancer and when Dr. Tyson told me, my knees buckled and I started sobbing. She immediately hugged me as did her vet tech and it made all the difference in the world. At that point, Rebel went on hospice and I took care of her at home. She was diagnosed in October 2010 and finally had to be euthanized in February 2011. Dr. Tyson and one of her vet techs LaDonna came to my house and euthanized Rebel on her favorite spot on the couch as I wanted her to go comfortably and with dignity. Once she was gone, they carefully wrapped up her little body, hugged and comforted us, then left. We received Rebels ashes about a week later in a little black cat statue. Sunny, a ginger tabby cat, was diagnosed with kidney failure at the tender age of eight and after doing blood work on her, Dr. Tyson prescribed two herbs to sustain her kidney health. According to one vet, the same one that didn’t know what the growth was on Rebel’s cheek and couldn’t be bothered to find out what it was, Sunny should have died in August of this year but she is still going strong thanks to Dr. Tyson. More recently, Chewie, a tabby cat, started limping a few months ago so I took her in and there was nothing immediate that Dr. Tyson could find that was causing the limping. There were no injuries and her blood work was fine. Since Dr. Tyson is not one to give up and always goes that extra mile, as all great vets who love animals will do, she sent Chewie to a specialist and was properly diagnosed with a rare condition. Now, she does not limp anymore thanks to Dr. Tysons’ refusal to give up. Chewie is on steroids for the time being but hopefully, Dr. Tyson will eventually be able to perform acupuncture and get her off the steroids. I have no doubts that if any of my kitties get sick, be it a common illness, rare condition, or terminal disease, Dr. Tyson and her staff will provide the best health care with love and compassion.

Bottom line, make sure you ask questions about what they will be doing and get prices! After my recent experience I feel very taken advantage of, disappointed, and still shocked. I brought my dog in (second visit) because he was having some bladder issues. He never messes in the house and over a few days did it multiple times. Plus he was chugging water like crazy so we figured, lets go get him looked at. They got me in same day which is great! Quick vitals check and then on to a pee test. The vet was nice but was throwing all kinds of terms out there that I have not idea on what she was saying, ESPECIALLY related to the tests. After the vitals check and pee test it did not seem like anything serious was going on and I thought, "okay maybe they will just say "lets keep an eye on him the next few days to monitor progress"." On to blood testing, which took a long time. It got to the point where we were asked to move out into the lobby so they could use the room still. After about 30 min, I got the feeling we were on the back burner. Testing finally done, results all came back good, time to head out. What makes me nervous at this place, they do not give you any indication of what you are being billed for until it is time to pay. "Today it is going to be $370.00+." I cannot fully blame the staff because I should have apparently asked more questions and MADE SURE I knew what tests were being done because until I saw the breakdown, I had little idea what was going on. Just figured they had our best interest at heart. Alone one of the tests was $137. To sum up, I still do not like that a lot of "well it could bes" translated to multiple tests being done, that I just assumed were routine. Do yourself a favor if you go here, ASK A LOT OF QUESTIONS AND GET A PRICE BREAKDOWN. I will be searching elsewhere next time our guys are due for a vet visit.

I dont write many reviews. But after calling Dr. Tyson our vet for a number of years now, I thought it was time to spread the word on just how awesome she and her staff are. I have been seeing her for about 6 years now and she has seen our family through good and bad financial situations along with a frequent flyer Pug with many issues and our potato spud lab with spindly legs and bad knees. Oh and a cat that cant bring herself to pee in the appropriate places. Dr. Tyson clearly knows her medicine and shows a great love for our pets. She also does what she can for different rescues in the area. We have all our confidence and faith in her suggestions for our pets best health. This week we made the decision to put our pug to sleep due to her many health issues. It was such a difficult decision for me to make. She was my baby before my husband and daughter came into our lives. And anyone who has ever owned a pug knows how childlike they are all the way to their last days. Dr. Tyson and her tech along with their front staff were so kind to our baby and to us. Our pug showed very little nervousness. She couldnt have been treated with more gentle and calming hands. I cant tell you how much that means to me and my husband. We live in Valrico now but as long as she is within driving distance we will go no where else with our pets. We are so grateful to her and her wonderful team!

So we had a sticky situation. Weve had 2 male guinea pigs and we got a new friend for them from a pet store. Supposedly SHE was another male guinea pig....yall know where im going from here. Two months and four babies later, we were in dire need of an exotic vet to neutor our boys, and at a reasonable cost. I was not impressed with other vets in the area that Ive been to. So, I looked for places to perform the procedures. You would be surprised at some of the ridiculous quotes Ive gotten. Luckily, at Dr Tysons clinic they have Dr Rubinstein who handles exotics. He was able to fix my boys for a very fair price, and he is amazing. I could tell that Dr Rubinstein truly cares for our pets, even though he is also allergic to them. He is very knowledgeable and showed concern for pet care and diet. He reasured us that we are caring for them correctly and gave us advice on better ways to keep them healthy. I feel that taking our guineas to Dr Rubinstein was the best decision we could have made. We are very happy with Dr Rubinstein and the staff at Four Paws. Super excited we found him!!! Thanks Dr Tyson!
