My kitty showed signs of having worm, so I called Avalon & asked if I could bring in a stool sample. They said that I needed to bring in the cat to get a shot. I explained that I had no way to transport the cat that day, but would like the poop checked. I was told by a very unfriendly person that I needed to bring in the cat. Today, my husband brought the cat in & told them that the cat had tapeworms. They did not examine the cat nor the poop nor did they even ask my husband why he thought that, but just gave the cat a shot. When I called later & asked why the poop wasnt examined, nor was the cat, nor were we even asked to explain why we thought the cat had worms, we were told that we said that the cat had worms, therefore the cat was treated for worms. I told them that I didnt understand why a vet would treat an animal after it was "diagnosed" by a lay person. I was told in again, a very unfriendly manner that thats how they do it. I tried to get her to explain why a vet would treat based only on the pet owners diagnosis, & was told rudely that thats just how it is. I prefer to deal with people who understand that as a pet owner, it is stressful to have an ailing animal. I had taken my kitties to Beach Park Animal Hospital in the past & always received kind & patient care from them. Though they are across town from me & Avalon is only a couple blocks away, I will choose to have them treated there.

I cannot stress enough to NEVER step foot in Avalon Animal Clinic on Florida Ave. Worst vet experience Ive ever had. For my boyfriend and I being first time dog owners it has been very stressful to find the perfect vet. Not only did the vet at Avalon not care to ask us any questions about our pup. He proceeded to give us multiple medications without explaining what they were for which resulted in him getting sick/blood in his stool. We brought Miles back in a week later to let the vet know that he had blood in his stool. He then proceeded to give us more medications AND on top of that give him his last set of vaccinations....WHILE HES SICK. Apparantly (being first time dog owners), Cameron and I had no clue how bad that was for our pup to be vaccinated while hes sick. It kills his immune system even more. After a week he got worse and Cameron and I did not know what to do. I am appalled to know that there are vets out there that could care less about the animals well being or their owners!

Serivce from rhe girls is good. This so called vet has no clue what he is doing. Dr G. Was great. However this Roy is not, Ihad to put my baby girl down a few years ago and it was the worst experience I havever haf.She was nervious he gave her the first shot and was still very upset then he gave her the shot and for whatever reason it wasnt working. If it is not bad enough to have to do this to have to see them suffer is just cruel. They finally made us leave the room IT WAS THE WORST EVER IT HAS BEEN YEARS NOW AND WE STIL HURT OVER THE WAY MY BABY WAS PUT DOWN! DONT TAKE YOUR PET HERE UNTIL THEY CHANGE DRS. THIS ROY IS TERRIBLE AND HE LOOKS THINGS UP IN BOOKS BECAUSE HE HAS NO CLUE WHAT HE IS DOING. NOT TO MENTION HIS BEDSIDE MANNER ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. DR G MADE A MISTAKE PUTTING THIS MORON OVER THE HOSPITAL I WONT EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THAT HE IS A DR DUE TO THE FACT HE IS NOT IN MY OPINION.

I had the worst experience at this doctor. I was seen by Dr. Roy, not the other doctor the reviews below rave about. I could hardly understand a thing Dr. Roy said, and he mis-diagnosed my dog. After paying $330.00, and being told my dog had something very rare, I was sent to a veterinarian surgeon. Before spending $150.00 for the surgeon to see me, I decided to get a second opinion. I took my dog to another vet and showed them the xrays Avalon had taken, they explained to me that the xrays showed nothing wrong, and that it was a totally separate issue he was having. My dog has a slipped disc in his back, Dr. Roy told me he had a displaced bowel! Two totally different things. Just to be sure, I even saw a third vet, who was in sync with the second, it is a slipped disc. Dr. Roy is awful, he didnt seem like he knew what he was doing from the beginning!!

We have been taking our dog to Avalon since we rescued her. She loves going there. Keith at the front desk always greats her with kisses and a treat. Dr. Roy is great with her. He recently had to remove a tumor from her rear leg and when I went to pick her up later that day, she was as happy as when I dropped her off. The operation went off without a hitch. Their fees are reasonable and the care Riley receives is exceptional. There was a negative review from about a month ago and I urge that person to give Avalon another try with an open mind. In 10 years I have never had a bad experience or more than a 10 minute wait, even in an emergency. I highly recommend this office if you live in the Seminole Heights area. The convenience factor of being able to walk to the office is great.

I give Avalon my highest recommendation!!! We just moved to the area and needed a Vet; I chose them because they are close to the house and was pleasantly surprised by the easy-going, quick, quality service! My dog received immediate attention, no waiting and what I liked the most was the doctor is a no-nonsense vet; he took care of my dog in a quick professional manor without trying to run-up the bill, he just did what I asked him to do. I was in and out in about 10 minutes with a rabies shot, a prescription for the dogs allergys and microscope analysis for whip worms. You may not see a lot of cars in the parking lot or people in the waiting room because he checks them in and then out very quickly.

Doctor rude, not knowledgeable.Staff also very snotty and rude. The place reeked! The first visit I got no definative diagnosis. The bill was over $300.00 . I took my pet back to them yesterday for the same problem. Had to pry the diagnosis from the Dr assistant. Didnt speak with the doctor. The bill was over $300.00 again! So, I spent over $600.00 to find out my dog was only constipated. When I asked why the new set of Xrays the Doctor told me :If I dont want to pay for the second round of Xrays that I should take my puppy and leave! Go there if you wish, but please have more concern for the health of your pet and your wallet! Ill never go back

I have been taking my doggie, Shaggy to Avalon for about 14 years now, excellent care! I just got a new kitten, Lolly Pop, she is also getting excellent care! My daughter used to live in the area and took her dog, Winston, to Avalon, she loved them and they took good care of Winston! The staff and Doctor Roy are just great and very nice to me and my pets! They always make us feel welcome and are very caring for every animal I see them with and they greet the animals just as in a "peoples" doctors office! Thank you, Dr. Roy and staff for loving and excellent care! Darlene Smith, A Happy Customer!!!!
