Worst dentist ever. I would not recommend this experience to anyone. After sitting in a room for 2 hours, that was outdated and had dental equipment that looks as if it had not been maintained in years, I decided this is not how a trip to the dentist should work. I was there for 2 hours and the only thing that was accomplished was that I was told I needed a $1,300 procedure done, with a cleaning that was a few hundred dollars, oh and X-rays. I took the X-rays I thought were preventive, thus covered by my insurance plan that is pretty great. Later to find out that I received "treatment plans" after my services were complete that I would be owing money and blah blah. I ran screaming away and found an amazing dentist in brandon that had the perfect treatment plan for me and in a clean and friendly office environment. I should have listened to reviews like mine, but went with something somewhat near my office. Never again! To top it off I called the office to dispute the charge (because I did not know prior to having the X-rays taken that they were not covered) and the office rep told me NOTHING! She was of no use and did not have good customer service skills. I would not recommend my worst enemy to Coast Dental. BTW- I later found out they were making up codes in their invoices...so check those carefully, you may walk out with a toothbrush for $300.00- HA!

My experiences at Coast Dental have been exceptional! I am a single mother with two boys and on a limited budget. I needed a lot of dental work and I was embarrassed by my smile. I received treatement plans from other dentists in the area and the cost was prohibitive. However, Dr. Byers at Coast Dental proposed a treatment plan that saved me almost 50% than those proposed by other dental practices in the area and he gave me a beautiful smile. Dr. Byers is caring, compassionate, and very talented. He has performed root canals, fillings, and cosmetic work, and I could not be happier with the pricing and quality of work. I also have an autistic son who was traumatized by other dentists. Dr. Byers was very gentle and patient with him my son is no longer anxious about going to the dentist. The entire staff at Coast Dental are also friendly, professional, and the dental assistants and hygenist are also exceptional. On one occassion, Dr. Byers stayed well past regular working hours to handle my dental treatment rather than making me come back for another appointment which would have required me to take time off work. I highly recommend Dr. Byers and this office.

I originally had an appt with South Tampa office and had such a long wait that I left. I rescheduled at Hyde Park office out of convenience. Arriving early for my appt I was expecting to be seen right on time give or take a few minutes. After waiting past my appt time & already being a little moody from my last experience, the receptionist could see my frustration & immediately brought me into a room to be taken care of. Never once did she give me back the attitude I was giving off and that calmed me down a lot. I ended up being in the office for 3hrs & could have stayed all day (I only went in for cleaning). Everyone was sooo patient with me from the time I sat in the chair until i walked out (explaining what they were doing and what&why I needed what they recommended). I highly recommend this office as I felt comfortable with my treatment and the care from all the staff (as I came in contact with at least 4 of them during my visit lol). I see the reviews about the extra fees and they did explain what was necessary and what was not. This made me appreciate their honesty. I will be going back :-)

Heed everyone elses warning. Ive gone to them a few times and had a decent experience except for them rescheduling my appointments at the last minute a few times. They always try to up-sell their services but I always declined so it wasnt an issue. My wife went to them on my recommendation and I forgot to tell her to decline all the other services they offer and she left with a $733.99 cleaning. She was sold everything including the rustproofing. By the shes never had a cavity... She wasnt told what the costs would be upfront and they explain the services as though they are mandatory. I called the office and asked them (as a long time patient) and asked if they would be willing to wave some of the fees and they stated they would rather lose my familys business than do what was right. This same thing happened to a coworker in my office where he was charged around a thousand dollars in extra services for one appointment. They would rather gouge you once then retain you as a long term customer. They are a corporation. Support a local dentist and small business and dont use them. Please.

Horrible experience. Everything started fine and seemed normal. Get X-rays. Get my gum line examined and teeth checked for cavities. This is when things took a turn. Dr. returns to let me know I have bacteria build up and a minor infection in some locations and I would need a "deep" cleaning. I explained I only wanted a basic cleaning and the Dr. said they could not do that for me. Then proceeds to hand me a sheet of paper with the cost of materials and services totaling over $1000 (over $350 out of pocket after insurance). After reviewing the billing statement, half of the items were "extra" things that were not "required" such as a tooth brush and special creams etc...after 15 minutes or so of "negotiating" they agreed I didnt need half of the items and I would pay $150 out of pocket just for a cleaning. Finally, I think I am going to get a cleaning, only to find out the Dr. is going to lunch and it cant be done for another 2 hours!!! I ended up getting nothing done for 2 hours and looking for another dentist. DONT GO HERE!!!

Avoid this place at all cost! I just left in tears and have never been treated with such disrespect :( To their credit, the tech was very nice, and the doctor was lovely. The hygienist however, was mean, cruel and went out of her way to be disrespectful. It was clearly her goal to scare me into unneeded procedures in the least professional way possible. I have always had healthy teeth, and was even told so by the doctor, minutes before the hygienist came in to poke around and tell me I needed an additional $1000 worth of procedures due to my poor dental hygiene. When I told her she was scaring me, she became very rude and aggressive in order to drill in her point. After sitting alone for another 30 minutes crying in the chair waiting for the doctor to come back, the nice tech came in and when I tried to explain why I was so upset she overheard and came swarming in the room. I left in tears, over two hours after my arrival, without a cleaning and without a full exam. I am disgusted! This doctor should be ashamed!

I was a patient for a few years. With the exception of the sweet older lady in back (her name escapes me, maybe George?) and the soft-spoken male dentist that quit a few years back...this place is junk. Each time I would go in for a cleaning, they would always find some pressing issue and would refuse to clean until they performed an expensive other procedure first. Thousands of dollars later and a couple years later, I still had never gotten my teeth cleaned by them. The final straw was just before the guy quit...I was getting a root canal and the over-weight assistant lady was arguing with my dentist and not doing as he asked. He was visibly angry and frustrated but was too much of a gentleman to stoop to her level of unprofessionalism. She had no bedside manner, no filter (o n the inappropriate things she said) and it resulted in me gagging on my saliva multiple times and my gums getting cut by the dentists drill a few times in the same sitting because she didnt move her tool out of the way when asked.
