I canceled two appointments in what I was told was less than 24 hours, at Lake Park Dental for a cleaning, x-rays and exam with Dr. Sarah Jockin. The first time I cancelled, I was not told there was a cancellation fee. The second time I cancelled, I was told there was a $25 cancellation fee. I cancelled these appointments because guess, what…people get sick, things happen and you’re unable to keep an appointment. I made a third appointment and received an appointment reminder call. The young lady said, "By the way, you have a $300 balance on your account from cancellation fees". I was informed the dental hygienist cancellation fee is $50 and the doctors $100, so it is $150 per cancelled appointment…not sure where they get these values from. I spoke with the office manager, Nyla. She informed me of their cancellation fee policy (which is not listed on their site). I explained that I was told it was $25, and only when I cancelled the 2nd time. Had I known, I would not keep making appointments and then cancelling them. I asked if they send any notifications to patients to make them aware when they have a balance, such as this. And I was told they don’t. The only way you know you have a balance for a cancelled appointment is when they call to remind you of your appointment. Hmmm… Nyla said she would speak with Dr. Jockin. She did and said that Dr. Jockin will “help out” the $300 cancellation fee by giving me the "courtesy" of only charging $100. Hmmmm….If shes referring to a "one-time courtesy", that’s not how it works. When you offer to waive a fee, you are waiving the entire fee and not “discounting” the fee from one amount to another. A fee that I was unaware of when I made the initial appointment. A fee that was not mentioned to me the first time I cancelled the initial appointment. A fee I was told was $25 when I cancelled the 2nd appoint. Of course I cancelled the 3rd and final appointment at Lake Park Dental. Oh, and they don’t collect on the cancellation fees unless you actually make it to your appointment…this policy is certainly not transparent from the time you make or decide to cancel an appointment. The office manager will tell you that you were advised there was a cancellation fee, but she can’t tell you the amount you were told of the cancellation fee, only that "all the girls in the office are aware of this fee." Hummm…Even when you cancel within 24 hours of an appointment to a cardiologist, neurologist or any other specialty doctor, the most they charge is $25 to $30, yet Lake Park Dental charges $100 for the doctor and $50 for the hygienist…again, not sure why their cancellation price-point is that high. It’s a shame…they will not be paid the $100 fee, they lost a patient and they’re getting a poor review. All because they just didn’t want to waive a fee that was never addressed in the first place. In the long run as a business and a dentistry practice, they’re losing a lot more money than $100. Beware…if you cancel your appointment at Lake Park Dental within 24 hrs of your appointment date and your scheduled for x-rays, exam and cleaning, you’ll be charged $150…you just won’t know it.

William R Burks Jr
My name is William Ronald Burks Jr and I live in Tampa, Florida. Back in July/August I got Mini Dental Denture Implants. I lost my job and had to go bankrupt. So I also had to bankrupt on the Dentist who did my Implant. She was paid about 8,000.00 by a Dental finance Co. and at that time I owed her 3000. Well she threw away my new upper Dentures and even called me after my bankruptcy wanting the 3000. I did get my bottom dentures and they still needed adjusted/fixed and my upper Denture at that time was my regular dentures modified until I paid to get my upper implant denture. In the mean time my dentures were somewhat loose and did not fit right. There was nothing I could do because I had no money and was just getting SSI disability of 731.00 per month. Well I wore what she made for me and not even 4 months later they broke in half..I asked a couple other dentists I went to see about getting them replaced and they stated since the did not fit right and were loose, that is why they broke. Now I have no teeth and a total of 10 extruding fittings in my mouth. I cannot find help and I was quoted by those other dentists of 3800, 3850 and 5000 to get teeth. I do not have the money. I can barely make it on what money I do get from SSI. I am tired of eating soups, soft foods and baby food...Is there any way that Donated Dental Services can help me? Ive always done for other people and never for myself an my ex-wife now gives me a hard time for it and tells me no one is gonna help me. I have always paid it forward but now I really need help...I dont know where else to go..I have been on my computer off and on for about 6 weeks now and I still cannot find anyone or Businesses that can help..I finally found this site and I do have hope and thats about all I have left. Please contact me and let me know either way please so at least I will have an answer and I can keep searching or just call it quits.....I am getting depressed now after so many dead ends, no answers or there is a cost or hidden fees that I cannot afford..Thank you for taking your time to read this.

********UPDATE 7-3-2017************** DONT BE FOOLED BY THEIR DECEPTIVE WAYS!!!!! ITS ALL ABOUT MONEY AND THEY WILL BILL YOU ANY WAY THEY CAN. INCOMPETENT BILLING STAFF. THEY WILL SAY WHATEVER THEY HAVE TO AND COLLECT YOUR MONEY. APPARENTLY THEY WILL EVEN TRY TO COLLECT AN ERRONEOUS AMOUNT IF A PATIENT CANCELS. SEE REVIEW BELOW. SUCH A SCAM. I WILL PAY MY CREDIT CARD WHAT I OWE BUT I WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW AND WORK WITH ABOUT THEIR DECEPTIVE BILLING. I CONTACTED THE BBB BOTH INSURANCE COMPANIES I HAD THROUGH MY EMPLOYERS AND THE CARECREIDT COMPANY TO LET THEM KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THIS OFFICE IS DOING. DEVILS IN DISGUISE. I HOPE PEOPLE WILL REALIZE THAT ALL THE FANCY SPA LIKE TREATMENTS ARE COSTING THEM (AS PATIENTS) BIG TIME. THE WORK I HAD DONE WAS MORE THAN $500 HIGHER THAN 2 OTHER OFFICES I CONTACTED. WHAT GOES AROUND WILL COME BACK AROUND. I JUST HOPE OTHER PATIENTS DONT GET FOOLED BY LAKE PARK DENTAL. The billing dept is THE WORST. Possibly the most unprofessional rude women I have ever dealt with. Office staff plays a huge role since patients have to deal with them more often. Tina and Nyla do not know how to do their job properly and have made it a complete nightmare for me. Of course I paid up front and now its "the patients responsibility" that they billed my insurances wrong and are having a hard time getting reimbursed what they quoted me 3 different times. None of this would have been a problem if they listened when I explained my work and new insurance information. I had already spoken to one insurance company ahead of time to make sure what would be covered. But 22 years of it being filed one way and apparently insurance company rules havent changed so I as the patient gets screwed out of a large amount of money because the billing queens assumed they knew it all. I guess in actuality they got their money from me up front so the one who screwed up was me for thinking that these incompetent professionals could do their job properly. BE AWARE that when you are made to pay up front and told that you will be reimbursed once your claim goes through YOU WILL NOT BE REIMBURSED because billing is not done properly. Its all lies!!!!!!!
