I was told I had spots on my retina that resembled or appeared to be macular degeneration and when I told this to the lasik company I was about to get lasik done by they recommended I see a retina specialist first to make sure I would be a good candidate for the procedure. I called Florida Eye Institute of Vero Beach and explained exactly what I needed to be done and wanted to make sure it fell under my specialist copay. They said they confirmed with United Health Care it would be, so I made the appointment and went in for my exam. After my exam I was sent downstairs to pay my bill where I found out there was an additional refraction fee that was not mentioned over the phone even though I was very adamant about only wanting to go if it would be just my copay. Well I didnt want to make a big scene over this fee and was frustrated already for this appointment already taking 3 hrs so I paid and left. A month later I get another bill for over $300. Well apparently they lied to me saying it was only going to be my copay because now a routine eye exam is going to cost me $400! They claim they had to do additional stuff but after 30 years of eye exams I know first hand nothing was done differently from any old eye exam except this one was done by a scamming specialist. How can companies get away with telling you its only going to be a $50 copay and then charge another $330. How is this legal. When calling to speak with the billing they were extremely rude and treated me like I was an idiot. I even spoke to the billing manager and she was as rude or worse. So now I have to pay $400 for a basic eye exam (by a specialist) even though I was told it would only be $50 or I get sent to collections. Save yourself the 3 hrs, the lies and expensive exam and go anywhere else!

The wait to be seen is horrendous. Both visits were 2.5 hours. Just to get tear ducts plugs. The waiting room for that long a wait is uncomfortable. No books, magazines. Everyone was complaining. And this was a 11am appointment! They need to reexamine their booking.i will never return!

Beautiful office and super friendly staff. I had to be worked in on short notice and brought my infant with me. Everyone was so nice to us and Dr. Baudo took great care of me. It was a very pleasant experience.
