My experience with the staff and Physician Assistant was positive. The PA did my full body scan and looked at an area that I was concerned about. Following a biopsy the diagnosis was early stage Melanoma on my upper right thigh and a removal was scheduled with Dr. Tabas - who I had not met before and was not scheduled to meet with prior to surgery. The day of surgery was a major disappointment. Dr. Tabas stormed into the room, very obviously in a hurry, and hardly looked at me or acknowledged me except for a limp handshake. She proceeded to instruct the nurse on numbing and came and went from the room a time or two more. When she returned, she brought over the table with tools, crashing it into the bed causing several tools to fall to the ground. It was a complete mess. My nerves were already shot so this only served to upset me further. Then, just prior to cutting she asked if I wanted sutures or staples. In total shock and not having any idea I would need staples I asked for the pros and cons and for her opinion on what she thought. Her response was staples so I went with them....all 20. Needless to say my scar looks AWFUL. I came back into the office a few days after surgery to express concern over the staples in the center of the incision and how I thought they were spreading and wanted to see a plastic surgeon. She assured me it would be fine. The incision is not fine and the scar is awful. I realize she isnt a plastic surgeon but her dismissiveness to my concerns over the scars appearance infuriates me. I am young, have a young family and this scar is very visible and will require followup in 6-12 months with a plastic surgeon. ALL of this frustration could have been resolved had Dr. Tabas taken her time on the day of surgery and addressed my concerns when I posed them. I would NOT recommend her. Apparently her specialty with Mohs and on faces is good but beware of the hack job shell do anywhere else on your body.

Dr Tabas without a doubt is a very very good doctor, took out the cancer, sewed me up on my face and the scar is barely noticable 8 weeks later. I am impressed. On the other hand, when I first went to her office I was scared to death, even was more frightened by some of the other patients skin cancer issues and I felt overall the personal in this office could do with overall empathy training and customer service with more concern for patient issues. Secondly when the surgery was completed the "office manager" never advised what I would owe or what my insurance would cover before or after the process was completed. She in fact REFUNDED ME $465.00 of which was suppose to be paid to the doctor. Four days after I received her REFUND CHECK FOR INSURANCE OVERPAYMENT the office manager wanted it to be paid back along with the 10% of my portion of my insurance 90/10. Sending me a Certified Letter demand for payment and I still dont know what I or my insurance is actualy paying for. I asked this office manager how she ever came up any figures and she had no response, she did not have a clue but she could write me a letter outlining her methods of accounting madness and send it Certified Mail. She still has yet to process my insurance claims properly, the insurance co stated they have never seen such billing codes in their lives and wrote to the office manager for an explanation of services. In response she wrote me a letter outlining the procedures and advise that Dr. Tabas would not longer be my doctor! Sent this Certified Mail - as if that makes a difference in todays world - and unfortunately ONLY BECAUSE of this persons inability to follow normal insurance billing practices, office billing procedures and total lack of regard for me as a patient I will never go back.

A+++ All Around. I could not possibly be more pleased. I was worried when, while making the appointment, I was told Advanced is part of Leavitt Medical Assoc., whose reviews online are/were pretty poor. (Both Leavitt and Advanced are listed as in-network providers for my Medicaid plan, so I was surprised when the person making the appointment offered me both Leavitt and Advanced locations. Surprised and disappointed, because my experience with healthcare provider chains is, like Leavitts ratings, poor.) But everyone at Advanceds Lee Road location was top notch. Dr. Kathrotiya was excellent, very patient and informative, gentle and kind, answered all my questions and made sure I understood everything she told me. Her nurse, whose name I dont recall (Im so sorry) was equally wonderful. And the receptionist? Also wonderful. My wait time was very reasonable, only a few minutes. I was in the exam room maybe five minutes after I finished in the new-patient forms. I waited in the exam room twice—after the nurse finished the preliminaries and went for the doctor, and again when the doctor went to get the nurse to assist her with a brief procedure. Each wait was just a couple of minutes. Dr. K and the nurse talked me through the procedure, which was quick, efficient, and as pain-free as possible. I hope not to need a dermatologist on a regular basis—fingers crossed about the biopsy, and Im going to have to do better at using sunscreen and wearing sleeves—but if I do, I have an excellent one. Well done, and thank you!

After waiting for ever my wife was thrown out by the rude nurse for wearing perfume???? I was told I better wash off my cologne before the rude Dr. came in. No one ever told us that you cant where cologne or perfume really?? Steve extremely rude all around. Dr scared me to death telling me it would take all day and I would need to come back next morning for a simple Mohs surgery on back of my head. She already had pathology from a previous surgery that just missed a margin. This was not brain surgery. I was so upset my blood pressure went up to 180/92 they said. Its normally hide end of normal. Found another surgeon on Sand Lake Dr Crotty. Amazing staff office and Dr. Surgery took less than 2 hours from removing looking at slide and stitches. A month later these fools threatened me that I owed 30.00 after I paid my copay at time of appointment. They should be closed down!!!

In my 59 years of life, I have had skin cancer of several types and have been to 3 different skin cancer surgeons over my life so far. I have been terrorized and I have been comforted. It was a refreshing experience at Dr. Tabas office with plenty of space for tranquil relaxation between procedures and completion. She removed a piece of the tip of my nose and I didnt even need to have a skin graft. With the help of the competent and compassionate assistants, I was given the ins and outs of wound care and healing principles. When I found a problem on my eye-brow, I was very comforted to hear that Dr. Tabas would handle this issue as well. Im very happy and would tell anyone to relax and let it be taken care of by some of the best most efficient professionals in the business. Si, habla englace! You know what I mean :)
