On 12.4.15, It was a blessing to find Dr. Randell! Hes such a superbly skilled, awesome doctor! For almost 10 yrs, I had to contend with various types of fibroids taking over my uterus; however, in the last 4-5 yrs, I suffered greatly. As in, flooding periods, horrible PMS, low iron (so low, my hair came out horribly), excruciating pain during my periods, etc. All these things made my life hard, but the most challenging of all occurred when Id get this horrific pain in the left side of my stomach from the pedunculated fibroids. I started searching online for surgical alternatives to a hysterectomy and serendipitously, I found Dr. Randell! I stayed up for 3.5 hours looking at his videos, reading about his work and his patient reviews, which were overwhelming stellar. I could hardly wait until Monday morning to call to make an appt. The staff got me in to see Dr. Randell on 12.11 and to my amazement, he was able to perform my myomectomy on 12.19. He removed 48 fibroids ranging in various sizes ranging from med size grapefruits to plums, grapes, and peas. When he showed me the fibroid photo, never would I have thought crap like that was actually living inside of me. Dr. Randell took all of those horrid fibroids out of my body, and whats even more astounding is that I only have a thin scar in my pubic area that is about the width and length of a medium size tooth pick!!! This man is absolutely brilliant in his craft! We are lucky to have someone of his caliber right here in our backyard (i.e. Atlanta). Dr. Randell listened to all of my concerns (even about my vain groaning of having a scar), answered all of my questions, and personally called me back when I needed to speak with him. And unlike many drs, he will take the time to get to know you as a person as opposed to relating to you as a chart or an object needing to be rushed through an assembly line. As an African American, I sometimes have concerns about how I might be treated medically due to past experiences. However, Dr. Randell treated me with the utmost respect and its quite clear that regardless of a persons race, creed, ethnicity, etc. his top priority is to treat everyone with respect and to give all patients high quality care. I did see another doctor for a consult, but after meeting Dr. Randell and being drawn in by his down-to-earth affable personality, his thoroughness in testing for things none of the other drs even mentioned to me, his high level of skill to perform myomectomies on a person in my condition (i.e. 48 various kinds of fibroids), and his heart felt caring nature, I didnt have to look any further because intuitively I felt Id found the one. Two months later, Im glad about my decision to go with Dr. Randell. I know I made the right choice. In all honesty, the insurance companies cant pay Dr. Randell enough for his invaluable experience and extraordinary level of skill to perform this type of surgery. Thax so much Dr. Randell for saving my uterus restoring my reproductive health. Youre amazing! And in the words of the great Tina Turner — Youre simply the BEST!

Dr. Randell himself is very knowledgeable, and appears to know what he does. Its the account department I have an issue with. The charged me for stuff that neither myself or the insurance company could trace and were never able to give me an explanation of benefits for those charges. The insurance company called them to try to resolve the issue and they were so rude to them telling the insurance guy that they cannot talk about my account and the only correspondence was via email. Meanwhile I had just spoken to them about my about about 20 minutes ago before contacting the insurance to try to understand where my bill was coming from. Basically the account office charged me for $60 that they cant account for. The billed the insurance company twice on seperate days for a visit made on the same day which involved a wellness exam and a ultrasound! The insurance company adviced me to report it as insurance fraud which I am about to do. I have sent numerous emails and no one has responded since I got the insurance company involved. When I call the response I get is someone will call me back and they never do yet they have the nerves to send me bills they cannot explain to myself or the insurance company. I dont care how good Dr. Randell is but he has definitely lost a client and I will make sure I let all of the people I know what goes on in that office. Whatever dubious activity going on in the account department will be brought to the attention of the insurance fraud departments.

After seeing a Physician who told me I would have to get a total hysterectomy, I was delighted to learn from Dr. Randell that this was NOT necessary. Dr. Randell thoroughly examined me (Pap, Ultrasound, MRI), we then sat in his office and reviewed the MRI. It revealed that I had at least 23 fibroids, not 6 as the first Physician initially told me. Dr. Randell explained that he would need to do an abdominal myomectomy to remove the tumors and assured me again that a hysterectomy would NOT be needed. He came across very confident and experienced so I decided to move forward with the surgery. I just knew I had found the "right" Physician/Surgeon! The surgery went well! During the surgery, Dr. Randell discovered and removed 46 tumors instead of 23, so my surgery was 3 hours instead of 2 as we had initially planned. Unbelievable, I know! I would post a pic but its pretty gross. Just glad to have those suckers gone! Anyway, I had my follow up appointment today and I hugged him and gave him a high five for changing my life! No more pain, bulges etc...My incision has healed nicely. My stomach is flat, I feel great and Im ready to get on with the next chapter of my life. Listen, Ive heard horror stories from some women who went through with this procedure with other Physicians and I am so thankful to have had Dr. Randell as my Physician/Surgeon. He is amazingly skilled and gifted to do what he does!

Dr. Randell did a GREAT job with my surgery. If you have a difficult case, want a minimally invasive approach, and/or cant afford to wait months for your surgery, hes your guy. My regular OBGYN told me shed likely have do a large cut down the center of my abdomen to remove multiple fibroids, including one very high in my torso that was 13-15cm large. She also was booked months ahead. Dr. Randells team was friendly and professional and always got me scheduled quickly for needed appointments. He was able to remove all of the fibroids in one 5 hour daVinci/laproscopic surgery through a few small incisions that are healing nicely. I think they will be barely noticeable in a few months. I was 100% back to myself about 2.5 weeks after the surgery - much faster than the 6+ week recovery time predicted for an open myomectomy. Id put 4.5 stars if that was an option simply because the office seems to always be running behind schedule, yielding long wait times (like most obgyn offices), so dont schedule anything closely after your appt time. His vibe is also less warm and fuzzy that what you might be used to in the south - hes very direct. Not a bad thing, but perhaps not for everyone so its worth noting.
