I am highly dissatisfied with some members of the dental staff. On May 12, 2015, I arrived ten minutes before my scheduled appointment (8AM). I had some insurance issues, however, they were quickly resolved. Everyone was kind to me except a technician (person who took me back and did my x-rays). Her name was Courtney. I was skeptical that insurance wouldnt cover my x-rays and asked her if it was required. She rudely stated " You have to have x-rays. You havent cleaned your teeth in five years (my last dentist appointment was in 2010). All I wanted to know was if it was covered, not if I needed the x-rays. I requested to go to the office to ask about insurance coverage and she rudely told me how I definitely needed to get them done. She eventually took me to the front desk and loudly asked the receptionist to "PLEASE explain to Mr. Bowling here why patients need x-rays." She told me to go sit back down so I awaited for the dentist/hygienist. When I was getting my x-rays done, she stated that I have wisdom teeth that dont look good and I would probably need to get them pulled immediately. She also told me that they do cosmetics because of my overbite. I told her that my mom and grandpa never had to have their wisdom teeth pulled and that I didnt feel any discomfort. She said "you probably wont follow in their footsteps." After the hygienist left, I sat up in the chair because I had discomfort in my back. Courtney came by and told me rudely to "lay down." She then left. I never laid down. When she came back, she handed me a cup and said "the fluoride is over there (pointing to a squirt bottle of solution)." While I was swishing the fluoride in my mouth she said "sign this." She pointed to some paperwork and I pointed to my mouth (because I was distracted with the fluoride in my mouth). She looked at me and said "so what, youre just not gonna sign?! [smurking]." I pointed to my mouth again and she said "whatever." I told her after I spit it out I didnt want to do it with fluoride in my mouth. On top of it all, I had to ask her to repeat instructions over and over because she would mumble and slur her words. She barley spoke English and she was born in this country as an American. She only did a ten week program and is extremely unprofessional. As for the rest of the staff, they were awesome. Dr. Lee was very nice. However, because of Courtney, I will never come back. She made going to the dentist miserable. I wish they had a ten week customer service course she could take.

Ever since we moved to the area we have tried several dentists but never felt comfortable till we came here. It was important for us to find a good dentist. To sum up in just a few words this office is the best one I have ever been to. They are very friendly, efficient and Dr Lee is very knowledgeable. He took the time to explain my dental health and all my options for some elective work that I had been considering. I felt no pressure or up-sale of products that were not necessary. My cleaning with Leah was very thorough. Ive noticed that a good dental office will always take gum disease seriously and they do. I have been at offices that dont even take any measurements and it showed in their cleanings. My wife also had a great experience with the office and she would know because she used to be a dental assistant. My son had wisdom teeth removed and it literally took Dr Lee 20 minutes from start to finish for all four. My son felt no pain the next day and had no swelling (very different than when I had it done years ago). Finally, I find it very convenient to have a dentist that does it all instead of referring everything out. And if Dr Lee cant do it there are specialist on site as well. They are the best!!!

Today was the worst experience ever. Ive only been here twice and I will never go back. The first time they charged me a $25 fee for my son not behaving while cleaning his teeth. At the time my some just turned 2, i dont think it is fair. My second time was horrible. I checked in 15 minutes early at 3:15, no one was at the front desk. Someone came and took my check in sticker, but I waited until 4, which is 30 minutes past my appointment time to ask when I would be seen. They didnt even know I had checked in, the manager told me it was not clear if I had checked in or not. I waited until 4:30 with my 2.5 year old son, 1.5 year old daughter and 2 month son. I left because they still did not have a room ready for us. For 30 minutes they kept telling me 5 more minutes, but yet they let 4 other kids go before me whos appointments were at 4 pm. I was so infuriated, no one acknowledged me until I said something. Im usually pretty patient, I do not mind waiting, but that was the worst experience ever. I wasted an entire day off work, unpaid and now I have to miss another simply because they did not know if I was checked in or not.

I went to the same dentist for over 30 years, thinking I was receiving excellent dental care. After an accident I had to have a facial CT scan which showed periodontal disease, which that dentist did not treat, and I lost a permanent tooth. I began searching for a new dentist. It was then that I found Dr. Lee and his wonderful staff. Luis, Amber Ferguson, Nivea Strozier, and all of the staff work as a team to make my visits as painless as possible. From periodontal cleanings, root canals, crowns, and bridges, everyone has worked to make sure that all are of the highest professional quality. Two years ago when my brother-in-law was visiting from Wisconsin, he lost a filling, and was certain the tooth would have to be pulled. Dr. Lee worked him into his schedule, on the day before a holiday, and saved the tooth. Debbie was even able to help him save money through an insurance program. When he returned home, his own dentist praised the work of Dr. Lee! Thank you to Dr. Lee and the entire staff at Hickory Flat Dental for being the professionals you are and caring about your patients!

Public service announcement. If you choose to go to hickory flat dentist beware! They tried to get me to cap a tooth, have a root canal and would not clean my teeth. They said I had gum disease and needed to have my gums pulled back and cleaned. I left so upset and wondering how this could happen in such a short period of time from my last cleaning. I went to one of my clients office and had him give me a second opinion. My gums are fine and Healthy, I have a cavity that isnt a root canal and my filling is not leaking and doesnt need to be capped. He cleaned my teeth. Removed plaque (which Dr. Lee told me my teeth were eroding in all actuality it was just plaque and is gone now) took another set of x-rays and sent me on my way! After speaking with others in our area and finding out they had the same experience. I wanted to pass the information on!!! PLEASE GET A SECOND OPINION!!! Dont listen to them!! I HAVE POST FROM OTHER PEOPLE IN MY NHOOD THAT ALSO HAD THE SAME EXPERIENCE! WE ARE ALL REPORTING TO THE BBB!!!
